Just done this operation for the daughter. The garage supplied a broken spare key and gave her a new case. Unfortunately, when I inspected the circuit board, one of the micro switches was missing, so it's back to square one. Your video was very informative and helpful.

I've just fixed the key for my Insignia using one of these kits - really easy. Totally recommended. I got the Vauxhall logo off my old key by heating up a small flathead screwdriver on the hob.

Saw the video and bought your kit. Took a bit of filing but all done and fitted together. I had bought one from amazon that didnt have a screw and didnt come with the punch. The screw felt reassuring and the punch, if you dont have one already was really helpful. I was able to get the badge off with a stanley knife, no melting required. Many thanks for supplying these kits as you do.

Same here it broke a pair of my pliers 😂
good instruction video easy to follow, my problem was with my existing key, my 62 plate astra key did not just separate vauxhall decided to fuse the 2 halves together making it impossible to separate it took a small metal saw and pliers to separate the 2 halves being very caustious not to damage the electrical board inside took about an hour to do .
Hi Robert, yes they glue the original keys. For future reference, external circlip pliers open these easily, we use them every day . Well done for getting it open with using pliers!
@@TheCarKeyMan I'm afraid that was not the case with my old key the 2 parts were not easily separated i used long nosed pliers to try, not one part separated hence having to use a junior hacksaw to cut through the joint between the 2 halves of the key the key case would rather break some where else than separate

When I first started the job I removed the badge looking for it 🙄

Mine won’t come apart must be glued what is the best way to take it off i tried screw driver and long nose pliers and still does not budge.

Perfect, replaced my old mums vauxhall key following your directions. The hardest bit was winding the tension back into the spring, a bit fiddley but got there in the end. All working well. Thanks

Like all the rest of the comments, this video was absolutely spot on. The buttons plastic fell off so needed a new shell. I was quoted £130 to do this and £7 and 20 minutes later, all done. Thank you so much!

Used this guide, out of all the ones online, this is the only one which address the holding pin. Huge help, now have my reserve key back up and running, tip of the hat and firm handshakes all around!

Just done mine. I have to be honest, the thought of taking a hammer to my key fob was a bit alarming, but the old one had lost a button and was getting flimsy. Cheapest price from a locksmith was £120. I can't express how delighted I am with it, once I got going. The blade switches in and out with ease. The lock and unlock buttons operate perfectly, and the engine starts. What more could you want?The instruction video was a God send. I will definitely recommend.

I didn't have the full kit and unfortunately couldn't get the pin out of the new fob. Thanks for explaining why we can't use the original, I decided I can live with it! I care more about working buttons!

You said it almost as an after-thought right at the end of the clip, but yiu have NO idea how much that has been my rescue !!!!!!!!! THANK YOU 👍🏽

Thanks for the video. I ordered the astra j model before I saw this or I would have supported you. When mine came there was no punch so I used a bit of stainless welding rod.
My original didn't come apart quite as easily as the one in you video, it seemed to be very well glued so I had to cut all around the outer with a junior hacksaw but thanks to your detailed video I got there in the end.

Just repaired my Insignia ignition key bit fiddly used a long nosed tweezer to hold the pin before tapping home. Great video and it all went fine really pleased. Was quoted over £100 pounds at the Vauxhall main dealer. Many thanks for the great video

Thanks for the comprehensive instructions. The only hard bit was getting the old key apart without circlip pliers. Managed in the end but it wasn't pretty. On the upside, in the struggle the Vauxhall logo fell out, so easy to transfer it to the new one. Thanks again.

The Car Key Man hi! Great video. P purchased replacement for from ebay dealer. The case and components look exactly the same as yours. Minor differences. No instructions or explanation of minor differences in your package rear of the case has no battery compartment. There a logical path to re assembling the case so noticed minor differences in the ket shaft to my originlmy but it looked and felt close to the original key. Finally checked the site i purchase it from and there a 10 minute video of finger going through the assembly of the new case with minor references the original blade to replacing the battery, fiddling finger filling the battery an circuit board contacts. And closing the case Your. After a few attempts trying to analyse the difference the difference key heads discovered the differences. Finally found your site. I still have to fit the battery contacts circuit board every time open the case open the case So i just want to say how good your video is

Ordered on Amazon yesterday...arrived today and job done in under 10 minutes. Flip out of the key was slow and not very forceful after I'd finished so watched the video and found out I needed to wind it a couple of times...Brilliant video and product, saved £££'s

Thanks a lot. I just changed key shell for my Astra J GTC. Unlock button on original one was held by tape, it literally fell out. Everything works great now!

Ordered the kit and arrived within a few days, watched the video before commencing and then whilst installing and took me an hour as I had to file the pin a bit more than was expected but got there and then getting case to click in place. To get the old Vauxhall logo off the old key, I just heated up an old sharp knife and melted the plastic and prised it off and stuck it onto the new key fob. Overall, with the help of the video it was straight forward job, just take your time. Many thanks to the The Car Key Man, you saved me a few bob 🙂
