Awesome video, now I finally understand more about the acceleration pump. I'm working on a Yamaha XT350 '85 bike with 2 different carburators for 1 cilinder. A strange combination to me, but now I've seen your video I understand a lot more about it. Thanks for sharing all your vids/information.

Got the same carbs on my W650, felt like such a forgotten art to maintain a carb these days
That's what these carbs are off of!
if you have to go deeper on the seat to repair it just shave the top so the spring doesn't hit.
Nice RVDM. That would make sense. I try to not alter it to a point the the future tech would pull their hair out trying to figure out why one float tang would be so different than the other. Funny thing is you may have just answered some carbs over the years that had just that! If one comes in and we decide to ever do that deep, we will share just for you!

It is used to re condition the end of torch heads. They come in various sizes, has an outer ring to keep it centered. Just turn the knurled end and can cut off by the .001"

Check ball missing in Accelerator pump feed passage? 20 plus pulses is extreme for that circuit and resulting fountain in bowl makes no sense. Aeration makes no sense as a result of acceleration demand. Anti return, one way valves in dedicated pump passages make sense to keep volume close to exits but the back flow into bowl doesn't. Even stuck anti returns in each passage should result in pump stiffness, not back flow, as repeatedly demonstrated. Best wishes
We grabbed Shane quick and asked his thoughts. He is currently in Japan training techs. He said "Nice thought. Has me thinking for sure. What I know is I've seen this behavior on many carbs over the years and this carb "seemed" to not have been touched in a manner where there was evidence of a pick scratch from attempted removal.
That being said, it makes me wonder if the seat loses its seal from vibration over the years and egg shapes? I will make a test of this in a future video. Stay connected.

Please tell me at 24:46 when you set floats from 17 to 18mm did you swing the angle on that carb bracket holding the carbs ? Like from the horizontal plain you had been working on all along? Couldn't tell as you had a split screen for a mo. I ask because I need to set my float on my 94 XT 350 to 27mm but don't know what angle carb must be at while making this setting

What would cause a 4 cylinder carb bike idle revs to momentarily drop when lifted off the side stand to vertical (as though you're sat on the bike) then pick back up to idle speed?
I'm thinking it's an issue with the fuel level but I've checked and double checked and the thing still does it (Yamaha R6). Bike rides fine etc apart from this and it's annoying. Throttle cable not tight either as it does it when the handle bars are kept straight.

looks like a fuel drain overflow? So instead of leaking through valve seat it'll leak through that?

What the heck is "hyperlocking"? The word is "hydrolocking"!
My float height is not right, and it's not adjustable. I did the clear tube test and the fill level is over the gasket. Do you have any idea. My idea is that the 1985 float is different from the all the rest.

My bike will idle on full choke, then if I twist throttle it will stumble, then if blast past that it will run fine.. on choke of course. But it's next to impossible to get past the stumble. The fuel level is definitely over the gasket height because it's leaking even with a new float bowl gasket on it.
