- Do you have some leftover 2 1/2" squares? I seem to have lots! Here is a suggestion of how you could use some of them for a small drawstring bag. Shown here using 24 x 2 1/2" squares plus lining (6 1/2" x 16 1/2") plus 4 x 2 1/2" x 6" strips for casings and 1 yard of ribbon. There are so many ways that this bag could be used - for gifts, to hold a hairbrush & comb, for a small take along project, a jar of jam and did I mention chocolate...... Have fun!

What a great little gift bag.
thank you
What a great little bag and wonderful tutorial. The fact that the bag can be made any size just by increasing the number of squares makes it so adaptable for many uses. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas.
Absolutely love this little bag. I have many children in my life I would love to make one for and love using up my scraps. I love everything you do!!!
What a fun idea! Easy, cute, and so many possibilities for use. Thanks again!
Brilliant ideas, much better than throw away wrapping paper.
So true!
Thank you for all your ideas and projects ... Usually I scroll forward most of the tutorials,... But yours I love to watch all and listen to your so lovely performance ... Greetings from Austria
Yet another lovely idea, thank you.
thank you
Just found this lovely simple little bag. Don't know how I missed it. You always give such easy to follow instructions which I really appreciate. I am amazed at how tidy your workplace is, I seem to have stuff everywhere when I'm sewing even though I've been sewing since forever (I'm now 71) loving your channel, thank you for sharing your no nonsense ideas. I just made a lovely Linus quilt using your sash as you go idea, really pleased with it. Thank you from Yorkshire, England. ♥️
Wow! Thank you so much for this video…💕👵🏻
you're welcome
A really clever idea. I know I’ll be making quite a few. And perhaps making them a little larger using 5” squares, which I have a ton of. Thanks so much for the tutorial.
Cute!
Wow, great idea. Who doesn’t have 2.5” squares hanging around. I have several Christmas ones and my mind was running wild watching you. Great job Susan, thank you for sharing. 🧵🧵🇨🇦
Oh good, look forward to seeing what you make
Great with valentine fabric and chocolate gift inside. Also my niece said she needs a bag to put her curling iron in for travel so you can adapt the length and width for that. I would also put an applique initial on one side.
A lovely idea!
Thank you! 😊
Hmm, how did you know I love little drawstring bags? Great idea!
thank you
These would make fabulous gift bags when made with Christmas fabric. Or just about any other holiday or giftgiving event.
Yes! Wonderful idea for gift bags. Even the bag itself is a reusable item.
Excellent, as always 😊👍
thank you
What a great idea! Thank you!
thank you
Would be great for Christmas gift bags.
Oh yes, good thinking!
I love this! Thank you so much.

I love that idea with the squares that is so cute
thank you
Lovely idea. Might make Christmas scrappy bags for giving presents this year. Thanks 😊
Great idea!
Very nice, thank you for the Inspiration.
Thanks for watching!
Such a good idea. Your way of making the casings was brilliant. I love almost all your ideas of smaller projects.
I like to work small and leftovers are abundant . A string block, scrap block or crumb block would work fine also. My head is bobling :-)
great idea
Nice idea, I like it and I am going to make many of them.
Great!
That little draw string bag is so adorable! Another fun chat to listen to while I hand quilt! Thank you so much for all that you do!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful
I love the idea of using left over squares. If you made it bigger from the same squares as the quilt you could make a bag to fit the quilt to give as a gift bag or store it in. I can’t wait to make one. Great idea. I love how you made the casing. So easy and quick. Thank you!
Great idea! Yes, I have also made bags like this for bed sheet sets
It was a clever idea
Thank you, Susan - what a great little bag! I'll have to pull out my bags of scraps and see what I can do. :)
thank you
If you wanted to you could quilt the bag before sewing it together. I will be making some of these bags to give as gifts.
How nice-all enclosed and finished! I will definitely try this. Thanks
thank you
Thank-you, such a lovely idea. Is it big enough to put a mug in, you could add some fancy tea, coffee, chai or hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows, choccy bikkies (tim tams), shortbread or a mix according to the recipient's tastes? I'd be putting lemon butter, lime butter, orange butter, or any of those with added passionfruit in it first. My oncologist said "chocolate is essential," after a lot of people said you have to give up choccy after you get cancer. They also said put your flowers outside and get rid of your cat. I didn't listen, I thoroughly enjoyed the flowers, i'm "catted" now, 8 years later, he'll stay as long as he likes on my lap, and he doesn't interfere with my chocolate.
I like your thinking! sooo delicous!
Very nice thanks
Most welcome
Loving all your scrappy videos! I'm also loving the little bird pincushions that seem to have multiplied from one video to the next!
Thank you, yes, the birds multiply and can get very noisy!
I just love your scrap ideas!!!
Leftovers are sooo delicious!
Such a cute quick project!
and even useful!
Great idea! I am so inspired by your videos. I love them and thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Love this idea! Lost your website for awhile and am so glad I found you again. Cute bag. My almost 3 year old granddaughter would love this! She loves carrying small objects and hiding them. A quick question. Where the casing and bag meet, are the edges not finished? The little area on each side of the casing, about a 1/4”. Thanks for this tutorial, and all your creative ideas. So glad I found you again.
Lovely tutorial! May I ask where did you get that nifty iron that raises itself when you put it down?
Dear Susan
I have a question about another quilt you made but not a tutorial. It’s called Abundance made from a dream big holiday panel by Hoffman! I have one of his dream big panels, and was wondering whether your quilt pattern for abundance will work for any of them? Thanks Louise
You had a great idea of hiding the knots with 3inch squares I lost your instructions could you please give me those instructions thank you
