  • This is Part 2 of 3 of my Handle Mod video. I go through how I build up my handles. I do think many of you can do a much better job than me, but this is how I do it and it works really well. Please look at the Theory part first to get a better grip of what the ideas are.

    Hello majdq8, I know it’s been a while since this vid was up but I came back to review it again. And ever since I watched it for the first time, I still can’t seem to wrap my head around your memory locking procedure (your use of line level to be exact). I understand your concept, but what’s the exact purpose of the line level here? Can you explain in detail if possible? TIA (your content is gold btw!)

    im about to do this mod but without the carbon fiber part :) but i’m curious when the epoxy putty does get damaged, how do i fix that? if i want to redo the whole epoxy handle, how can i reset (or take it off)? using a dremel or metal file?

    Thanks for this clip, i decided to make a right handle for my arbalete...it is a ergal cressi with 110 band stretch and 1100gr only gun ( no shaft no bands) Do you think is too much with 7.5mm shaft and double 15mm bands? Thanks ciao

    What Grit of Silicon Carbide powder do you recommend for the friction layer? I don't want something that will rip my gloves up fast, just enough to give a bit of friction to the handle. Thank you!

      @majdq8  Před 7 lety

      It all depends how grippy you want your grip. I personally like 80 grit, but of course you can go much coarser like I have in the video. When I did the video I only had very coarse silicone carbide, and I mixed it with black sand.

    Hi majdq8, Your work is truly impressive! Could you help me with something? I have Pathos Laser Open Pro 90 with 6.5mm shaft (original) and I recently ordered new bands Sigalsub Band 14.5 mm Coestruso Sigal Extreme. Could you please help me on what length I should cut them? I have in plan modding the handle by your video and upgrading the trigger with the Ermessub upgrade kit. Thank you very much ;)

    Hi majd looking to do this to my pathos. Is there any issues with stopping just at the expoxy potty part. I'm not concerned about looks and I don't have the skills to do the carbon fibre part. Was hoping it's ok just to leave the putty as is or will it fall apart with use ??

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 6 lety +3

      Yes sure, I do that all the time when travelling and I get a gun that needs a handle mod. Take a look at my 3rd video and you will see a Pathos gun that I used for catching 3 fish with such a mod. Quality of epoxy putty varies in quality, but I find that the Milliput stuff is really good. Remember to also add a sand friction coating. Also make sure you sand and clean the surface of the handle before putting the epoxy putty. Alternatively you can also use the plastic pellets that melt at around 60c like Polymorph or Instamorph.

    hello majdq8 ! to the end, can you say me who's grit do you used for the grip handle ? it is a carbure sicilium ? thank you so mutch !!

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 6 lety +1

      I think this was 20 or 40 grit. Probably best is grit around 60 or 80. This sand was silicone carbide (similar to what is used for sandpaper).

    really amazing series of videos came in time really Thanks a lot
    just could you point me where did you get the material especially the carbon fiber wrap??

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 7 lety +1

      They are available at almost any shop that sells composites such as easycomposites.co.uk or sollercomposites.com
      I recommend you try first with epoxy putty. The CF is a lot of work and in many cases not necessary for the handle to be functional ... although it does make it look nice and is much more durable.

      Hi Majd,
      Many thanks for your amazing videos and information. I learnt a lot from you. I tried to buy some carbon clothes but felt lost with the types of carbon . Can you please advise what should i buy and from where? If you know a store in UAE or gulf countries will be much easier

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 7 lety

      Hala ... I don't think you can get CF tape in UAE or q8 ... you can easily order it from sollercomposites or easycomposites.co.uk or fibermaxcomposites You only need 1m or 1.5m per handle. If you can't get it there, pm me and I can send you some from q8.

      @amjedalattas Před 7 lety

      majdq8 hi I tried to order from the websites you mentioned but sadly due to some regulations it can't be shipped to Saudi Arabia if you have any excess I'll buy it from you

    the trigger on the abellan is plastic?If so being plastic doesnt affect the durability of the gun ?Also for the pin holding the line on the mech is it possible to be swapped and from right side to be placed left ?

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 6 lety

      Only the trigger sear is plastic. This can actually be better than Stainless Steel if the SS will scratch. Best is to find a very hard SS but that is very expensive. Another way to prevent sears scratching is to use a double roller trigger. The new Abellan made in the US will be using these triggers. And switching left to right is very easy with most triggers as you simply unscrew the line release screw and switch over.

      majdq8 thanks you help a lot I am surely going to buy one but shall I wait for the new ones with the ss trigger? Do you have any other info on what is going to change in the gun and when is it going to hit the markets?

  • @juanpedrohernandezperez8608

    Hi majdq8,
    First of all, very nice video. I have a question. What trigger is the one that appears at minute 58:48 put on the speargun pathos?
    Bests regards.

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 6 lety

      That was a custom Ermessub trigger that I was testing. It has side line release on top. The side line release option is very useful when using a float line.

    Hey could you do a review on a rob Allen tuna ?

    • @majdq8
      @majdq8  Před 7 lety +1

      RA guns are low handle guns ... thus they cannot be pushed hard otherwise things get out of control. Best is to use them in their default setup. You might get some improvement in left shift by customizing the handle, but to be honest I have never tried modding a RA pipe gun.

    • @dalonfrench789

      majdq8 do you have a rob allen ? i just wanted to see if you could do a review on one because i was thinking about getting one

    • @Yesik07
      @Yesik07 Před 7 lety

      Hey there pal, that looks very interesting, I have a RA 130 Tuna with 7.5mm shaft and 2 16mm bands, its a new gun so in its default set-up, I was thinking of implementing this grip technique to it but just read your comment. Maybe i am still getting used to is but out of about 20 shots I fired I only landed 1 fish ... They are not big sized fish at all most are really small but they just seem to swim away before the shaft gets to them, may you suggest what is the issue here?
