      As customers we are consumers and fans of the product we’re engaged with. But when we’re treated from the door with unfairness and disrespect in any form, we as customers simply step away.
      Restaurants or public businesses should have proper safety and basic hygiene etiquette/standards already in order before preparing for customers.

    I was born and raised in Atlanta and let me just say...I'm a new fan of Keith Lee. I'm so glad that somebody is finally EXPOSING these Atlanta restaurants because we are sick and tired of them. Years ago one of my co-workers had a birthday dinner at Old Lady Gang. I decided to get there early because it's almost impossible to find parking in downtown Atlanta. First of all, why would you put a restaurant on a street where street parking is banned? OLG sits on a two way street called Peters Street and there is a cop walking by each car putting a ticket on your window if you are parked on either end. Anyway, there is a small parking lot behind the plaza where patrons can park (Kandi charges $10 for you to park there on the weekends). I was driving around there for about an hour trying to find a parking space so I can go inside the restaurant. I decided to drive in the parking lot (for a 2nd time) to find a parking space and the parking lot attendant stopped me and told me to leave because they needed to reserve parking spaces for Todd's people (Kandi's husband). I put my car in reverse and told my co-worker BYE I'm not about to support a business that just denied me parking!!!! Some of these black owned businesses here in Atlanta feel as if they have the RIGHT to treat other black people any kind of way and if you criticize them, they get defensive and claim that you're trying to tear a black business down or that you still go to other businesses that have poor customer service. The lack of accountability and responsibility in the black community will be our downfall.

      So his complaint was they didn’t tell him the same wait time as his family member. But don’t most “important ppl” go right in & don’t wait . Don’t he have like 14 million followers. • @quxnjay
      @quxnjay Před 9 měsíci +99

      @chanm.6192 His point is that he doesn't want to be treated like that. He's said it on numerous occasions. "I'm a regular person, I want to be treated like a regular person, I pay just like everybody else." He just wants to give honest, fair reviews for every day people because the majority of his following is every day people, the majority of customers that will keep these places in business are every day people. They can't rely on notoriety and celebrity clientele all the time while also giving their more frequent, every day customers crappy food and/or crappy service too.
      Realistically, nobody with a decent moral standing is gonna eat at establishments that they KNOW will treat certain people better than their friends and family. Why should somebody get to sit before others who have been waiting hours to eat just because they have millions of followers? Unless your business is packed, no tables available whatsoever, then nobody should be waiting an hour to an hour and a half just to be seated.
      It was an issue at multiple places in ATL. He has the right to be upset about HIS experience. Despite not liking it, he was still polite and calm about it. Y'all are the ones being weird trying to make it seem like he's wrong for calling it out when it's for the benefit of you, for every day people

      The issue many times in the black community is an ungodly “ownership” claim on one another. As soon as you have your own opinion about something that is not the ingrained “group think” you are vilified, devoured, cursed, and accused of not being “black” enough. It is a true mental illness. There is rarely any space to be an individual created by God. There is a strong, witchcraft like ownership claim on everyone. Which is why ppl can’t advanced. It’s not normal. It is abnormal. If you ever want to come into who you are destined to be as an individual… good luck because that is usually punished. It is demonic.

    He didn't do anything wrong. As a community, we tend to be averse to criticism because we perceive it as an attack on our efforts, even when people are genuinely trying to offer their perspective. We need to do better as a community because it’s not even just the food industry, its the hair industry, nail industry etc. People are generally unprofessional and prioritize a look, a lifestyle over having good customer service. Quality over quantity.
    I understand that some individuals may feel upset by my previous statement where I used the term "we." However, it is important to recognize that when I say "we," I am referring to the collective black community. Because “we” need to say that “we” aren’t going to accept this behavior from restaurants, salons, etc. and the issue at hand pertains to our community specifically, (in this moment since this is a common experience in ATL) and it is crucial for us, as black individuals, to hold ourselves accountable. This does not mean that those who are not directly involved in the issue are responsible, but rather emphasizes the significance of internal accountability within our community.

We'll stan black business, but if your customer service isn't on-point or just even "good", we're not going back. It's hella weird how some black folks have a problem with words like, "thank you", "have a nice day", "you're welcome" and/or just extending common courtesy for patronizing your business. This shit has to end....

    I visit the Atlanta area a lot because most of my family live there but I have to mentally prepare myself for the interactions with customer service. It’s insane. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when I needed a wig ASAP for an unplanned thing when I was in town. My sister and I stopped at a black owned hair shop in the Alpharetta area. The owner and also the only one working was not civil from the beginning. However, we walked through the store and found a no fuss wig (hairy hat as I call them). I asked if I could try it on and she said no because of covid restrictions. Fair enough even though we are over a year into not wearing masks anymore but if she wants to use that as an excuse, I either have to purchase or go someone else. I decided I’ll take the chance and hope it fits. So I tell her that we will take it. She takes it off my hand and turns into a back area. I tell my sister that I’m not comfortable with her taking the display wig back there so we both stick our head back there and just as we suspected, she was packing up the wig that was on display for us to purchase. When she came back out I told her that I saw her put the disheveled wig she refused for me to try on back in the package. How do you sell a wig that looks like it’s been sitting out of months, touched by everyone, and according to you could not be tried on because you’re so health conscious. So it’s not really about health, it’s just about you getting over on someone over a $200 wig. I walked out and we drove to an Asian place up the road that gave us the option to try 3 wigs before we make a choice. I thought about leaving a review but I decided to let it go. Fact is it does not matter if you patronize black owned as a black person. In fact, thinking that we will come no matter what is why they act with such impunity.

    Keith Lee didnt lie. Its all true. Many of the Black owned restaurants are charging astronomical prices and they have too many rules and expectations when they don't provide great customer service. Most of the time the food is mediocre and they nickle and dime for everything. Even parking at some of these establishments require payment. I really wish Black people would stop patronizing these places, take there money elsewhere, and stop making excuses for Black businesses.

It's sad that businesses that truly cared about their communities suffered, while these folks get to treat their customers like they are doing them a favor, and stay in business. Her restaurants are mostly fine dining and because she's a celebrity. She gets wealthy people going there all the time.
      So of course she and any business will cater to their regular crowd and give them a safe haven. Poor people should spend their money on their Mom&Pop shops and stop projecting so much like they got it and got nothing!
      She's not a regular restaurant. Regular restaurants should have take out etc. That's what keeps them busy.
      But celebrity and fine dining restaurants already have the creme of la creme going to their restaurants on the regular and I'm pretty sure they cater to them if they need to do take outs. They have enough with that load as wealthy people tend to order for more than one or two people ok.

    He's telling his truth. I don't see why he's getting so much push back? I see why professional reviewers stay private and you won't know who they are. These Atlanta restaurants just need to do better. I went to the Milk and Honey for Sunday brunch, by myself, and the wait was long ,but I didn't mind. I sat at the bar and the bartender served everyone but me, while talking to her friends. She had either lost her phone of misplaced it, she was looking for it and still severing everyone but didn't acknowledge me. I asked for a manager and received another server, who was on point and did a great job. I'm a server and I know if you sit at the bar, the bartender is your server, but she didn't acknowledge me and I hate that.
