    For the ice bath, you can get neoprene toe socks to help insulate your toes. It should help with the pain in your feet!

      Or just do it the Wim Hof way actually. He knows him, so he should try it out maybe. With the breathing exercises you actually don’t feel pain anymore. It’s fascinating.

    Literally have the same goals as you! Did my first Ironman in Chattanooga this September and afterwards decided I want to work to qualify for Boston. We have very similar running times. Good luck!

    I have one tip, don’t do all your miles on the treadmill, mix it up with dirt and pavement because when you go to Houston and your bodies not used to the pounding on the pavement your gonna get tired quicker.
    So just do some running on pavement

    I'm and Ultra runner, cold water therapy is *AMAZING* , luckily though live in Helsinki Finland, and I can go in the winter and dip in the frozen ocean or river :))))))) Think I have a few videos on it actually

    I love the videos! Future tip...the hole in the caulking gun by the trigger is there to cut the plastic tip off the caulking tube. No need for a knife or scissors. Insert the end of the tip in the hole and pull the trigger back. I only learned this a year ago :)

    Nick , make sure you plug it in to GFI receptacle in case water becomes in contact with a power source. This freezer is not made to fill with water. Safety first.

    A little FYI, on the handle of the caulk gun there’s a hole that’s made for the tip of the calk tube. You put it in there and squeeze the handle and it trims it off

    Hey Nick great stuff! There are actually little feet "socks" you can get for when you're in the ice chest so your toes aren't in as much pain! Good luck on your training and I can't wait to follow the journey!

    Hey Nick see the hole in the side of your calk gun.. stick the tip of your calk tube in there as deep as you need and squeeze the handle that will cut the tip off of the tube and hold it on a slight angle!!! DIY tip of the day

    Hey Nick. Go buy a wall plug timer. That’ll regulate your water temp for you based off time the unit is supplied power. It’ll keep you from freezing the water and your power bill down 🤙🏼

    IT band issues are a lot common when the volume is high, but good foam rolling and ice baths helps a lot! You video made my day, loads of love from INDIA 🇮🇳

    This is awesome! I’m lucky to have a full recovery set up at work with hot and cold tank, compression boots, massage and rollers. Never underestimate the power of recovery! A lesson learned the hard way lol

    I'm glad you're going with more of a coach/program with support for your marathon plan than a print out you can get online. I think you'll have better results similar to the Ironman.

    I have tight IT bands every so often and those are great stretches. Another one that kills is the box stretch. While standing, put your leg on a 24in box at a right angle and try to touch your knee to the box.

    Have the local fire department training cadre come by and get those pallets. We use them up here in our burn building to train the new cadets.

    They make neoprene booties to put on your toes to prevent frost bite. Helps a lot with the pain. Athletic trainers told us to ice bath for 8 minutes after rowing workouts. Usually you're numb by then, which is when you know to get out. Good luck with the prep!

    As a runner who has had IT band issues I would recommend that when you are rolling out, you can use a tennis ball to find those tender spots, and just sit on that for about ten seconds and then move it

    Hey nick great idea with the ice bath for recovery. Did you consider buying a ice machine and just using a stainless steel tub? Then you wouldn’t have to run the safety risk of using the freezer. Also I’d recommend some ice bath socks that you can find buy googling.

    At my college for our ice baths we use these little sock things you put on your feet to decrease the pain in your feet from the cold! You should look into it!

    Yeah, I went down stairs backwards for a month back in ‘07 after that sub4 hr marathon I just had to run senior year of high school. I probably should have done ice baths and pushed myself to run even if slowly and for a short distance.

    Hey. A really good and easy way to improve your pace is by increasing your step cadence. Up to at least 175-180. Like this so he can qualify for the Boston Marathon!

    I trained for a 50k this summer and used the ice bath after every run plus I put on Compression socks after the bath. Both of those things kept my legs and feet from feeling the mileage I put on. I had only ever done a 10 k before this summer.

    Hey just a thought, Learn how to do pails/rails and CAR’s for each joint and joint movement especially for hips and ankles. It’ll help you so much more than foam rolling. It’s a method from Kinstretch. It’s extremely effective. Even if you don’t want to do it at least research it a little bit. I don’t want u to get injured with all that mileage

    NIck, in the ice chest freezer sit on the other end. That way your butt sinks down and the water submerges all the way to your neck for a full body freeze! i do that all the time and it feels awesome

      I also have an ice bath. I shower before I get in every time to help keep the water clean and I change the water every 3 weeks.

    It is s seal unit water should only get out the plug .been using one for last 2 year it's a great and handy way they to recover. I don't use it as much moved to having a very cold shower for a 1min after every hot shower. Good luck in your training.

    You can buy footies for your feet so that you can protect your toes from hypothermia/lack of blood flow. Not too expensive either!

    For the future, that little whole in the caulk gun is for you to put the tip of the sealant in there and squeezing the trigger cut the tip off. Just a heads up. Save the knife!

    Ice bath tip: use a distraction (I watch 10 min of Netflix) and sip a hot drink during! Makes it so much more easier

    They made us do it full body for 15 minutes after every soccer practice in high school haha, you just pray that you go numb quickly
