My uncle ends up in an ice freezer every morning but y'all just call him an alcoholic.
Jameson Tade 😂
55-70 miles a week? You're an inspiration, I need to get 5 in today, and I am not looking forward to it. Going to go knock it out now.
Keen to see a “ what I eat in day” marathon prep version too.
That's a good idea too 👍
It’s so cool to see Nick go from aesthetics focused body builder to athlete.
“18 miles Sunday” yeah same lol
Pleease do a before and after form video!!! It’d be really interesting!
For the ice bath, you can get neoprene toe socks to help insulate your toes. It should help with the pain in your feet!
Or just do it the Wim Hof way actually. He knows him, so he should try it out maybe. With the breathing exercises you actually don’t feel pain anymore. It’s fascinating.
Literally have the same goals as you! Did my first Ironman in Chattanooga this September and afterwards decided I want to work to qualify for Boston. We have very similar running times. Good luck!
I have one tip, don’t do all your miles on the treadmill, mix it up with dirt and pavement because when you go to Houston and your bodies not used to the pounding on the pavement your gonna get tired quicker.
So just do some running on pavement
This is straight out of Josh Bridges video
I would like to see more stretching for running/ recovery
LifeisaGamble why? It is boring and besides that it is incredibly easy. Just watch any yoga video and you have it.
Me too
No one could fault your enthusiasm or commitment for this endeavour. Its certainly a hefty challenge so soon after your Ironman. Good Hunting!
I'm and Ultra runner, cold water therapy is *AMAZING* , luckily though live in Helsinki Finland, and I can go in the winter and dip in the frozen ocean or river :))))))) Think I have a few videos on it actually
Man this man is true inspiration. Hes always pushing hard for the next challenge. I love how he loves the process
Man bare performance has grown into a family.. been here since the beginning Nick.. awesome to see how far you've come
I was waiting for this video, uploaded just in time
If you pay attention to the way he says "on" you'll never unhear it
awn
I love the videos! Future tip...the hole in the caulking gun by the trigger is there to cut the plastic tip off the caulking tube. No need for a knife or scissors. Insert the end of the tip in the hole and pull the trigger back. I only learned this a year ago :)
Nick , make sure you plug it in to GFI receptacle in case water becomes in contact with a power source. This freezer is not made to fill with water. Safety first.
He does have it in a GFI, you can see it in the vid when he plugs it in :)
A little FYI, on the handle of the caulk gun there’s a hole that’s made for the tip of the calk tube. You put it in there and squeeze the handle and it trims it off
Ethan Lutz exactly!
Like nails on a chalkboard right there..
Beat me to it
I was just about to comment on that
Highly recommend the Precor stretch trainer for your IT band.
Enjoy following your training videos. I am also struggling with some IT band discomfort, so this was helpful! I am training for my first marathon in January!
I need more videos per week!!!! Also, strong greens for life!!
Please show us more stretching and recovery! That's something I really need to get better at for my upcoming marathon!
Looking forward to this series !
The Nick Bare series . Best TV show on CZcams 😂. Keep at it man your killing it
Hey Nick great stuff! There are actually little feet "socks" you can get for when you're in the ice chest so your toes aren't in as much pain! Good luck on your training and I can't wait to follow the journey!
Yes man keep it up!! Love your vids!💪🏼
Wim Hof! You gotta get all the way in! If you start the wim hof program and do your prep you’ll see a difference my man! Wim changed my life/training life!
SIgned up for a half marathon on Feb 1st. I know its not much but been wanting to do one for a while and just decided to do it! Day 2 of my ten week training plan today. My weekly mileage is less than a single day of yours hahaha.
Hey Nick see the hole in the side of your calk gun.. stick the tip of your calk tube in there as deep as you need and squeeze the handle that will cut the tip off of the tube and hold it on a slight angle!!! DIY tip of the day
This is like a TV show
bmxracer117 Yes, it really is. I wish he posted everyday
But better
Hey Nick. Go buy a wall plug timer. That’ll regulate your water temp for you based off time the unit is supplied power. It’ll keep you from freezing the water and your power bill down 🤙🏼
I’m training for The Woodlands Marathon which is a Boston Qualifier. It’s great seeing people training like me putting these miles in too averaging right now 60 miles per week. Good luck!
Laughed my ass off this whole vid. Thanks for helping my day go by!
👌🤟💪 grin. had to giggle on that last seconds. big headsup from austria! 🙏🏻
IT band issues are a lot common when the volume is high, but good foam rolling and ice baths helps a lot! You video made my day, loads of love from INDIA 🇮🇳
This is awesome! I’m lucky to have a full recovery set up at work with hot and cold tank, compression boots, massage and rollers. Never underestimate the power of recovery! A lesson learned the hard way lol
I'm glad you're going with more of a coach/program with support for your marathon plan than a print out you can get online. I think you'll have better results similar to the Ironman.
I have tight IT bands every so often and those are great stretches. Another one that kills is the box stretch. While standing, put your leg on a 24in box at a right angle and try to touch your knee to the box.
This was fun to watch! I'll definitely need to try the cold bath one time!
Damn you got shredded from all that Iron Man training. Impressive keeping up strength, and strength training with so much endurance training.
The videos are getting better!
You are running for time ! That's very commendable and a few non professional people do that. That's very commendable . Good luck !!
I’m looking forward to Black Friday (Thursday). Gonna get me some good stuff
hit the ice bath almost every day of my college running career, It is the true secret sauce to avoiding injuries.
Have the local fire department training cadre come by and get those pallets. We use them up here in our burn building to train the new cadets.
I am learning a lot.........i have been lifting weight .......now i have started to run 10 kilo meters.......twice a week.......
They make neoprene booties to put on your toes to prevent frost bite. Helps a lot with the pain. Athletic trainers told us to ice bath for 8 minutes after rowing workouts. Usually you're numb by then, which is when you know to get out. Good luck with the prep!
I find it great that Steph got all up in there when Nick got in the ice bath 😂
please make a video on foam rolling and stretching
Loved hearing you listen to Manchester Orchestra!!
The editing in this video is insane 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video Nick as always.
One question, do you train your legs in a normal workout ? Or are you saveing them for running and so?
Every time im running on a treathmill it feels like im going faster than the machine says im going.. am i going crazy? Or are you using the stats on your watch?
As a runner who has had IT band issues I would recommend that when you are rolling out, you can use a tennis ball to find those tender spots, and just sit on that for about ten seconds and then move it
I m so glad that you unplug that thing before use 😲
(Gotta have to give the ice bath a try too👍)
I like these videos for some reason
Great videos....keep them coming. I did IMFL also, had you on the swim and bike, you killed me on the run. How do you like the Nordictrack x22i treadmill. Thinking of getting one.
Hey nick great idea with the ice bath for recovery. Did you consider buying a ice machine and just using a stainless steel tub? Then you wouldn’t have to run the safety risk of using the freezer. Also I’d recommend some ice bath socks that you can find buy googling.
Im loving this new intro. Fuckin awesome!
At my college for our ice baths we use these little sock things you put on your feet to decrease the pain in your feet from the cold! You should look into it!
Yeah, I went down stairs backwards for a month back in ‘07 after that sub4 hr marathon I just had to run senior year of high school. I probably should have done ice baths and pushed myself to run even if slowly and for a short distance.
Hey. A really good and easy way to improve your pace is by increasing your step cadence. Up to at least 175-180. Like this so he can qualify for the Boston Marathon!
I havent been this early in a while, as always, idk about anyone else but nick I appreciate your sweet edits and transitions 👍👍👍
I trained for a 50k this summer and used the ice bath after every run plus I put on Compression socks after the bath. Both of those things kept my legs and feet from feeling the mileage I put on. I had only ever done a 10 k before this summer.
Hey just a thought, Learn how to do pails/rails and CAR’s for each joint and joint movement especially for hips and ankles. It’ll help you so much more than foam rolling. It’s a method from Kinstretch. It’s extremely effective. Even if you don’t want to do it at least research it a little bit. I don’t want u to get injured with all that mileage
😂 Ice bath in the fall and winter. Cold. Nick. You’re so cold. 😂
Yo Nick didn’t know you listened to Manchester Orchestra, I really started to believe I was the only one. Pretty cool
it bothers me that you cut the tip off that caulk with a knife instead of the built in cutter on the caulk gun
Viral Videos he’s got a big caulk, requires a big knife, come on now
Was scrolling to see if anyone was bothered by that too😂
Right after he did it I saw this
NIck, in the ice chest freezer sit on the other end. That way your butt sinks down and the water submerges all the way to your neck for a full body freeze! i do that all the time and it feels awesome
Extremely motivation as always.
I really want to support you buy buying supplements from your site, but I realise that you don't ship outside the US. Do you have any plans of expanding your shipping to Europe?
Living in Northern Canada and still running outside. See you on the tredmill in Texas. No excuse, get outside!
Nick, the only question I have with your ice bath is how are you going to drain it when you need to change out the water?
Good recovery dude
Strong reds was life changing. Strong greens does things to my gut that requires exorcists.
Love the Chest Freezer cold tub..... My only question is how often to change the water out?
Lonnie Newbury wondering the same thing too...
Or is he conserving water by keeping the ice water in all the time?
I also have an ice bath. I shower before I get in every time to help keep the water clean and I change the water every 3 weeks.
I would put some chlorine in to help sanitize... much like a hot tub or pool
Food grade hydrogen peroxide is optimal. Look up Ben Greenfield and his ice bath hack
Do you have a specific Ultra you have in mind? Good luck in training for the Boston Marathon. Impressed by your lifestyle change to serious running.
Kevin hart season 3 episode 2
COLD AS BALLS
Road to the Boston Marathon, pretty bold title for someone who barely has broken 4 hours in the marathon, good luck!
minionstomper this guy is gonna make it... watch. He has the right mindset.
@@carlosmitchell6543 lol not at Austin in February... maybe down the road
John Bergeron Goggins did it with horrible stress fractures within two weeks of running his first 100 miler, nothing but mindset and I believe this dude has the right mindset... but we’ll see.
@@carlosmitchell6543 like I said, good luck!
@@carlosmitchell6543 yo what happened with nick and all the "Road to Boston" video series? lol reality must have set in... Austin marathon in one month..
Gotta go all the way in Nicholas! More health benefits and actually easier
It is s seal unit water should only get out the plug .been using one for last 2 year it's a great and handy way they to recover. I don't use it as much moved to having a very cold shower for a 1min after every hot shower. Good luck in your training.
That place is good. Went there when I visited Austin.
You can buy footies for your feet so that you can protect your toes from hypothermia/lack of blood flow. Not too expensive either!
For the future, that little whole in the caulk gun is for you to put the tip of the sealant in there and squeezing the trigger cut the tip off. Just a heads up. Save the knife!
They make neoprene toe covers that help. My toes hurt like crazy, everything else was tolerable.
My man... that caulk gun has an opening on the side that will cut the tip off the tube.
Ice bath tip: use a distraction (I watch 10 min of Netflix) and sip a hot drink during! Makes it so much more easier
Nick, make sure your moving your legs around slightly when in the ice Bath.
As a fellow marathon runner seat in the ice bath for a minamum of 15 mins after a run it works better
Hey mate. What are you doing for your nutrition wholefoods-wise for your marathon prep. Is it different to you body building regime?
When he pulled out the flex seal I knew it was going to get serious.
Nick, have you consider remove the chest freezer lid? That way is more accessible going in and out.
rileypart1 the freezer wouldn’t get very cold without a lid now would it lol.
Look at videos from Wim Hof, the iceman. You really can learn from him.
you can add an external temp controller.
Hey Nick, have you considered a plant based diet to benefit your running journey? Rich Roll is an amazing inspiration.
I’ve been looking at the Nordictrac incline treadmill for a while. Is it worth the high pricing?
Hi Nick, I am curious how you keep your body size and stay lean when you do such large number of cardio workouts, like marathon.
They made us do it full body for 15 minutes after every soccer practice in high school haha, you just pray that you go numb quickly
New Guy: Hook em
Nick (a massive Penn State fan): We don't do that here
