      This statement is wrong on so many levels! Sh!t, I'm a father of three young children, the primary carer, plus I operate my own business. I can run a sub-3H. I'd like to see Nick try that with the limited time I have. All he does is train all day and the best he can do is a 3:24:00?

    My first marathon I did 3:36, my second marathon I did 3:16, my third marathon I did 3:06, my fourth marathon I did 2:57. (3 year progression) You will progress. Just stay injury free. (It doesn’t get easier, you just get faster.) Good luck.

    • @MarkZanker
      @MarkZanker Před 4 lety +2

      Rimiki Dkhar depends what type of injury. Slow build up in running mileage, combined with stretching of the hips, quads, calfs, feet. Buy some good shoes and do 80-90% of your running at easy pace. All of these things combined will give you the best chance of staying injury free. Good luck!

    Nick, I watched this video twice already. And here’s what I like about you, you’re not afraid to share your failures. There are so many athletes/CZcamsrs/entrepreneurs that only want to show people the “sexy” stuff. They only want to show their highlights and never the times where they were down in the dump. But you aren’t afraid to share your failures and you mentioned that you’re not going to let it beat you up. You’re going to bounce back. This is definitely a trait that I plan to have as I progress as a junior officer and as an athlete. Thank you BPN team for pushing Nick and shoutout to all of the athletes that came down to support! Much love all the way from North Pole, Alaska.

    I really appreciate this video and your results actually encourage me even more than if you had ran sub 3. I have had a very similar journey. I started endurance sports in 2010 at 30 years old. Worked my way up to an Ironman in 2014, and chasing sub 3 with plans to do a 100 in the future. My first marathon was Nashville 2012 and ran a 4:54, was not expecting the hills and was way under trained. Fast forward to 2017, and I ran my current PR of 3:31. This has been a long challenging journey, but I’m not giving up hope. I’ve had to take breaks along the way due to life, but I’m back in the game and hunting down that sub 3! Thanks for sharing!

    As your mate said you already have won. Building a positive community is what life is all about. Running wise I reckon you need to get leaner for marathons. You are still running better times than probably 70% of the worlds marathon runners elite and recreational but with a leaner frame you will do it easy.

    Thank you very much for this video. You are one of the few who encourage and teach other people the Spartan dream, those men with great aerobic endurance like Philipides and great physical strength in their muscles to hold a sword and a shield in combat, a paradox in today's world ... if you run a marathon you are thin and without muscles, and if you do bodybuilding you are strong but not resistant to run a marathon. you are achieving both in many people in the world, a strong and resistant body and mind, as well as healthy. Congratulations from a Cuban Doctor from Qatar.👍. Good luck!!!

    Loved the video footage and you are such an inspiration to so many. That is more impressive than running a sub 3hr marathon. Although I don't quite understand the rush/reasoning behind doing another marathon so soon (8 weeks), I wish you well. I'm sure there are many people giving you advice, so hopefully you take it with the best of intentions to help you reach your goal. I just want to restate what you have said many times in your videos. The goal is to run 6:50 pace! You Never mentioned holding 6:41 or 6:29 's. Find the 3hr pacer group in Eugene and stay right behind them no matter how great you feel. This is your journey, not ours, so do what you feel is necessary and enjoy the adventure. Life is good!

    Just from an outside perspective and only from watching your videos, it seems like you did “new” things on race day that you didn’t during training. Personally I wouldn’t be hitting the electrolytes that hard if you didn’t do it before every long run. Yes, electrolytes are very important, but you’re putting additional sodium into your body that you aren’t used to before a long activity. You also ran in a shirt vs. running shirtless. That can absolutely be detrimental in overheating. Again, just an outside perspective based on what I’ve seen in your videos; just trying to give some advice. Keep it up! Can’t wait to see you qualify!

      Jordan Privette I’d disagree with you. I don’t think having a shirt on and having electrolytes would make that much of a difference. Trying a new thing that would make a difference is changing up running form, new shoes, trying a different warmup, and going out a different pace. Those are things that can affect you.

    Good luck in Indy! Flatter course should definitely help. In live in Atlanta and I believe our marathon is the hilliest of any major marathon. I finished my 1st marathon ever on that course in 2019 and it was brutal!
