I Went Hunting Naked in the Amazon Jungle With Waorani Tribe

  • The Waorani people who live deep in the Amazon jungle of remote eastern Ecuador are one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in the world and they get most of what they eat by catching it from the jungle, with handmade blowguns and curare poison that they make themselves. My friends and I had the pleasure of accompanying them on one of their hunts recently and I wanted to try doing it like they do, which is to say completely naked head-to-toe. Hands down one of the craziest things I’ve ever done!
HUGE thanks to Wareka for guiding us into the jungle, you can check out his IG here: / amazonwaoraniexpeditions

Major respect to the Waorani people. They need more love and respect in the world. Thanks Ari for giving us just a sliver of insight into what their lives are like.

These last two videos have been really cool to watch. It’s amazing how language lets you drop into a culture so much more fluidly. How receptive they are to having you there and teaching you just because that language barrier is gone so quickly. Very very cool videos .

I must admit that I did not expect the level of care and courage to exceed all expectations from Ari, the crew, and the tribe. You're going above and beyond in taking the meaning of polyglot to the next level.

I'm so amazed by the kindness, hospitality, respect shown by Indigenous people. I wish so much Westerners could have such a spirit. Respect for Creator, humanity.

Learning well-known and widespread languages is not an easy task, but learning a language from one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes is amazing! I believe that this attitude of not only learning their language, but hunting with them, demonstrated a great respect for their culture and way of life. Make more videos like this if you can. Congratulations on your curiosity and perseverance in making this short documentary.
