Well done! If you keep practicing, you will soon exceed 100 Joule. More importantly, you will be able to hit from longer distances even when using powerful bands. Anyway, thanks for the mega shoutout! I enjoyed our email exchange and I hope that you will be a slingshot fan forever (that stuff is addictive).

Slingshots have been used for centuries for a reason.
I once heard of this guy who could tell you which small rock he'd hit, far away, and he did. His accuracy was phenomenal.
He also could hit extremely well with a sling, using stones as ammo. He often hunted birds using that, hitting them in the head. This was back in the 80s in a country where such things were legal, but that may have changed since.
hey just a small tip about penetration. In the common ballistics industry, getting past armor or tough materials isn't about size or weight of the round and bigger does not always mean better. Armor piercing rounds are simply faster than the normal variation of that ammo caliber. If you do want something that can crack bone or penetrate as deep as possible, try using the smaller ammo with the larger bands or adding more bands. Larger ammo will only make the cavity caused by impact to be larger.
you have a "small tip about penetration"?
Yeah, and use lube.
Wouldn't be led balls with same weight but smaller diameter as large steel be better penetrators?
@@augustlandmesser1520smaller and heavier(but balance enough weight that it can be thrown fast rounds might make a better penetrator
Not exactly how penetration works with firearms. Speed, with nothing more, does not equate to armor penetration. You want three things. A pointed projectile,. This is to insure that, on contact with armor, the force is focused on the smallest possible surface area. A fast round. This, as I'm sure you are aware, is to ensure the round passes through with enough force. Lastly, you want the round to have a hardened core. Usually, but not always, this is a hardened steel core. In more exotic rounds this could be tungsten or even depleted uranium.

Pro tip for when you're new to organic grinding. Draw on your part, the sections you want to remove. And start small. First cut, 5 mm line on the two faces where you have to remove material. Exactly like topography lines. And then you follow those two lines to take out the corner. Once you're done with that around the track, you draw the next ones, and repeat until you have the shape you want. It's... grind by numbers (like paint by numbers).

I think that David's slingshot wasn't rubber based, it probably was that round n round overhead with ropes instead of the rubbers. Those things have serious potential, I compared it with AK-47s when I was younger, and it gave it serious competition, it easily achieved 240 yards with lethal sizes, but obviously we were doing it just for fun as an afternoon activity, if one were to take it this seriously, I think we would have some serious slingpower.
@TabeshKhan I am aware he didn't use this kind of sling shot, but I said it for comedic purposes because both used sling shots
hence the joke "We are slayin Goliath with this one"
@@shomu_og2841 I liked your joke before commenting 🤣, my contribution wasn't intended as a counter to yours, just something I wanted to share. I appreciate your humor 😊
It's genuinely surprising how dangerous a tool like a slingshot can become when built to this extent.
is it though?
Blowguns are even more deceptively lethal as while much less brute force then this slingshot so can they beat it in penetration.
I would be impressed to see any performance of a blowgun that would be able to kill a medium sized mammal without the aid of poison.
Also the amount of training needed to perform even somewhat effective with a blowgun is far behind what you need to operate a slingshot.
@@Diogenes2077 Having used both, blowguns require much less training - they are very easy to aim with minimal practice, but are less powerful as you say.
@@Krullfath ikr, slings are one of the most ancient weapons of mankind. Yeah a slingshot works a bit differently, but one should expect that similar lethality can be achieved given the projectiles are similar and the main limitation is human muscle power.

Har HAr HAR! Hello thar. and welcome to slingshot channel!
He was great i loved it aswell. but then he got mentally ill with his reichsbürger bs.
Something I know from archery that probably works on this is pointing the slingshot to the sky, pulling the band back and then releasing it when you drop down towards the target. It allows you to use your back muscles to pull back the band easier. (DISCLAIMER: Don't do this if the area you're aiming at has people or someone's property on it.)
Interesting! Wursthunter (the guy I showed in the intro) uses that technique. I should try it
@@MikeShake you don't need to point up to the sky, its actually discouraged in archery due to the safety issues. You can start with both your hands just above your head, then bring them down to shoulder level. When you do it this way, naturally you'll be using your shoulder muscles.
Alternatively, if you want to maintain your current method, the only thing you really need to change is thinking of the pulling action as a rotation instead of a pull. When you pull, you naturally use your triceps. Instead focus on the position of your elbow, and rotate it to be in alignment with your shoulders. Your body will then engage the back muscles instead.
@@MikeShake I think the traditional Japanese archers use the technique @darylphuah is referring to
@@MikeShake Another archery related thing is to make sure you are using your back muscles and not just your arm muscles to pull the bands back. You can try some exercises where you lock your arm in a fixed position and just pull the band/push the grip by pulling back your shoulders.
pretty sure the general consensus is you shouldnt add unneccesary strain to your back. your back is kinda important. kinda stupid to pull your back for an imaginary target. especially on anything above 50 pound draw.

Usope is a Stubid Asshole
Try the 8mm in a lead ball instead of a steel ball and use three large bands with it. This will fly straight through the skull recreation.
Maybe try putting a slight forward-facing angle on the front end post to which you tie your bands. This way, if you ever did have a front post strike, it would rebound off at a different angle than just coming straight back at you. Just my opinion.
I'm here for the slingshot part, and the fun part. Keep this up, this is becoming gold. It's "just" enough fun to it to not make the video cheesy.

You seem incredibly good at learning skills. And you like makeshift weapons. So try making a blow gus operated with foot bellows and darts from the hardened steel spokes of bicycle tires.
Its powerful the darts pentrate metal refrigerator doors.
Mike is just a genuinely good and hilarious youtuber with interesting stuff. Can't believe he isn't at 10 million subscribers yet. Great video!
GIVE IT TO USOPP PLEASE

If you ever decide to make a new slingshot, I would use layers of Baltic birch plywood and some kind of fabric with resin (either woven polyester or carbon fiber, or even paper would work really. Mycarta is popular for knife scales) to layer between. Also stabilized wood like desert ironwood is extremely durable. I used to use a slingshot to hunt/play paintball with, and you could get even more dangerous with cast lead alloy shot of a smaller diameter. Lead alloy is extremely dense and heavy and doesn’t deform when penetrating.
Also, consider making the arm brace portion of your slingshot out of a lightweight folding rifle stock. The slingshot doesn’t need to be straight because it’s aimed from your eye to the yoke and drawn from the yoke towards your eye(ish). Allowing the slingshot to fold down would make it much more comfortable to transport and use.
If you ever up the power, I recommend changing the core of your laminates to metal. Metal has the benefit of deforming rather than snapping. This way, even if you reach the failure point, you should still be safe.
Also, don't bother with those rubber washers in the future. Your metal bracket will form a great joint when bolted to the wood laminate, crushing a it a little to stay even. This will distribute forces more evenly than being held on three standoffs.
I noticed the scars on your hand at 7:00 this shows how much dedication you've put into shooting a slingshot and I appreciate that. in my own personal experience I've hit my hand numerous times before you get the hang of it. Keep up the good work 😁👍
also he's using all that protective gear (is that a bulletproof vest?) and no gloves! This looked scary to me, pulling that sling with bare fingers, had it suddenly detached from fork (or if fork suddenly broke) while stretched, it could make quite a mess. I understand the instinct to protect eyes, head and internal organs first, but hands are actually quite useful too, and I think by far more likely to get accidentally damaged.
20:12 not a surprise. You pull the bands off-center with your draw instead of going straight back.
“A slingshot capable of fending anything in front of it and behind of it” 😂😂😂😂
That slingshot is wild. I need one immediately.
Milk-e-shake, you are a great man, dont let the U.S military find you.
I actually watched an in video ad? Dude this guy made some thing we need and advertised something we want. Awesome channel i just subbed
I can think of several ways to add a sliding track for perfectly straight, controlled draws. I think I'd also maybe up the band pull so that you wouldn't pull back further than the end?
i feel like that would add unnecessary friction to the slingshot. as for a longer draw mike could do a butterfly draw where its basically his entire wingspan
