As a Reds fan, the Mike Moustakas contract was really really bad. He hardly ever played, was atrocious when he did, and we had to pay him 22 mil this year not to play for us. Castellanos was good tho
as a Red Sox fan id do that David Price contract twice. He helped us win a WS and ill forever be grateful for that.

Many of the teams did bigger contracts but they were extensions and not free agent contracts. The Stanton contract with the Marlins, Trout with the Angels, and Mookie Betts with the Dodgers are probably the best examples of this but there are many others.
Castellanos deserved the contract he got with the Reds but Moustakas preformed poorly with the Reds he could not stay healthy and even when he was on the field he didn't preform well at all. This is coming from a Reds Fan

What made the Heywood contract double bad is everyone was scratching their head before he ever played a game. Oh well. He was a good guy and played a great right field.
Right Field dWAR isn't worth that much money. I watched him come up with his minor league roommate Freddie Freeman and Heyward took free agency and I said I think all a pitcher had to do was pitch him inside after getting his jaw broke in 5 or 6 places and he hit scared and poorly. I was attacked by Braves' fan base writers who were such Homers they couldn't see the obvious. What surprised me were the Cubs' scouts who were fooled by that dWAR as well, but word got out, pitch him inside he can't hit there.
Didnt know the details of the Correa deal before now but thats such a steal for the Twins. 4 separate team options at the end with decreasing salaries each year is something you cant even get away with in OOTP
Also can't speak for Nats fans since I'm not one, but considering the big storyline of that offseason was whether or not they'd keep Rendon or Strasburg, it probably doesn't sting as much for them knowing the Rendon contract turned out just as awful in LA

1 thing I’ll say about the Stephen Strasberg signing is he at least got a WS ring 💍 with the Nats but it sucks we didn’t get to see him play that much
Heyward may have gotten a WS for the Cubs but it also crippled the spending for every year after the WS win. Double edged sword right there.

When you put into perspective that Kris Bryant got 182 for 7 and Marcus Semien got 175 for 7, it makes that contract even worse. One guy was a below average player and the other was an MVP finalist who lead his team to a WS title.

For all the people who think Theo Epstein is God there's the Jason Heyward contract. I was stunned when they gave him that contract. He's the number one reason the Cubs couldn't repeat. They were stuck with one of the worst hitting right fielders in baseball for seven years (a position that is supposed to be an offensive position).
Angels have historically signed terrible free agents other than utility players/pitchers. Any big name is a bust.....
