Crazy to think Freddie Freeman isn't on here. That's probably the biggest miss of the article.
Freeman just turned 34 last September. The writer probably thought that he would slow down a bit. It is still a miss imo.
Nah Yordan Alvarez was a bigger miss
@@kaimiller5956 How would he know Yordan will be the next big thing when at the beginning of 2019 year he was just rank 44 prospect?
@@kaimiller5956 nobody knew who yordan, jrod, etc. were at the time. Of course theyre incredible present day but in 2019? no.
@BlueBlobfishGaming323
Freeman never gave signs of slowing down, it's just everybody liked to hype up guys like Harper and Trout who are on the list. I would argue that Freeman is better than both of them as well, maybe not then, but now.
“And that’s why Lucas Duda was predicted to be the best player in baseball.”
I think the Ohtani projection is actually fairly good. You have to remember that we had very little to go on in 2019. So i think 25 is the good “this guy could he good or a complete flame-out.” Which if we are being honest, is where we were with Ohtani in 2019.
And whether Ohtani will continue to be a two way player long term is still very much up in the air.
I remember around 2020, there was a large segment of the baseball card collecting community was selling Ohtani. His cards took a huge dip from where they were in 2018, and people were concerned that he was a bust, relative to the hype. Your assessment is right on. And their ranking is fair given the feeling in 2019.
@@snerdterguson exactly. Ohtani was like this Unicorn that could possibly be insane, but, was just a likely a bust. It feels like trying to project him in 2019 is just a no win proposition. If you put him top 5 and he busts you look like an idiot, and same if you put him under 10 given just how much he popped off.
@@snerdtergusonBust, relative to hype. That is accurate in the card value community.
I love how he says in the Syndergaard segment that he's "projecting good health for everyone" yet still puts Judge at 30 when at that point the only time he missed games was because a pitch broke his hand
100%. People act as if he is just brittle and keeps getting injuries. The last non contact injury he had was his oblique, and that was like half a decade ago. His injuries are all flukes. HBP, crashing into wall twice, diving catch, sliding into third.
Worst prediction on this list is that he thought John Fisher would pay Matt Chapman
holy shit did anybody think that 5 years ago was 2017 lol
2015 was 5 years ago😂
@@andrewf94232010 was 5 years ago
I’m still surprised that the Padres couldn’t make at least a World Series appearance with Soto, Machado, Tatis Jr. and Snell
I’m a padres fan and I was incredibly shocked when they couldn’t even make the postseason
All in all, the writer did a pretty good job imo. He definitely took some risks with the prospects but go big or go home. I'm impressed
This writer was predicting the "Darkest Timeline"; where the Yankees were a super team. Fortunately, that future never came to pass.
As a long time fantasy player ive been waiting for Jo Adell to pop off for what feels like a decade 😂
Would love to see you do a video like this!
was surprised to not see him predict freeman or rendon in the top 50… Rendon is definitely a top 5 player now!
so sad man, rendon killed it in that nats world series run and then just lost it
This was pre 2019. At this point Judge had injured his shoulder but played through it at the end of his rookie year, and gotten a broken bone in his wrist from a hit by pitch. Nobody was thinking he was a huge risk to lose time to injuries back then. Nobody should feel that way at all. What human being doesn't at least tear some ligaments in their toe when they run full out and smash it into a block of concrete? His injuries, outside the oblique like 4 or 5 years ago, was a fluke contact injury. Twice crashing into the wall, once on a diving catch and once sliding into third.
Off-season content I can get excited for - your yearly predictions and, eventually, reactions to previous predictions. Every year for as long as you do baseball stuff? Decade or two at least? Huh?
Surprised Marc wasn’t upset about the Bret baty snub. Truly a big miss
this is a cool idea to do and track for sure
GiraffeNeckMarc with another banger video!!!
Pretty cool idea 💡
Another nice job, Marc. Thanks for posting: entertaining and informative. Next year Bellinger will be in your top 30!
Honestly this dude's predictions are really good. Only a few bad picks on a 5 year prediction, with ALOT of spot on picks as well
On the Ohtani prediction, he said that come 2023 he would not be being pitching and hitting at the same time but look where we are now.
For the last 4.5 seasons (Age 25-29, noting the short COVID season) Matt Olson’s been pretty decent….
643 hits, 177 HRs, .886 OPS, 140 OPS+, 22.6 WAR
I was/am a big Urias fan but that is booooollllddd as he was still in SD and we hadn't seen anything
Sick idea for a video. Do it!
Devers so underrated
i dont even mind some of these predictions. Amed Rosario was a solid hits guy, and its not outrageous to assume he'd be a key shortstop to whatever mid team he is on, and Jo Adell mashes in AAA but just cant put it together in the majors (could get a full season with the state of the Angels now)
Aaaaaand totally missed Julio Rodriguez. But...so did a lot of people back in 2019. :)
thank you for not talking about him, a lot of rays fans get a ton of shit from fans that shit on us cuz of it
hype for you to make that 2028 video
At the time of this article there was 0 health concerns surrounding Aaron Judge
Degrom missing this list is insane, maybe right today given injuries, but illogical to say in 2019
His age is what really kept him off this list imo
Why no Josh Hader video?
I think my Giants have a great example of how pitchers are nearly impossible to predict. Logan Webb. I don't think he ever made a Top 100 list. Now he's a top 20 pitcher in MLB. He will almost always give up 3 or fewer runs in 6 or more innings. Hes a "quality start" machine.
He is not a top 20 player in MLB, lol.
@@greatnessdelton1381 hes s top 20 pitcher in just about every measurable way. Obviously I didn't mean overall player. There's like 2 pitchers who might make that list.
@@greatnessdelton1381 there, I fixed it so no one else thinks the same silly crap you did, LOL.
@@brentwalker5726 Fair, Fair. He backed up what Mookie said a couple days with Jomboy. Better step his game up whenever we face other, jus saying.....

I'm impressed with this guy's list. Not bad at all.
most times saying “royce lewis” in 1 minute
If you get up one more time than you fall, you will make it through.
That is so cool!
As a Blue Jays fan that Vladdy ranking hurts me deeply.
Yo Marc
Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.
Blake snell to the giants is right on the money 💴
The fact that Freddie isn’t on there is crazy
Im surprised he didnt have rendon in there. I guess he correctly predicted his crash and burn
Love this
Where the hell was Rafael devers 😂
Do it
JARED BIRMAN POSTED THIS BEFORE TIK TOK
No Freddie freeman on that list. That one is puzzling
Yeah but what if they tried to predict the top 5 MLB players 50 years ago?
No Acuna or Austin Riley lol wild
wdym acuna was top 10
riley really wasn’t that good then
How did he not have Freeman or Yordan in his top 50 when both were top 50 players in 2019 and showed no signs of stopping?
This was at the start of '19. Alvarez hadn't even debuted and was just the #44 prospect in all of baseball. Freeman will be 35 this year, the smart money would be on expecting a decline that thankfully hasn't happened.
Xander Bogearts is a fringe top 50 player? Hes ranked top 25 for several years now.
He had a down 2023, keep up, gramps
How does Logan Webb keep missing these lists. Giant or not, he's still a top pitcher at 26
Logan Webb was a solid AA pitcher in 2018. I don’t think anyone could have reasonably predicted him to be a Cy Young candidate in 2023.
Except he said Ozzie would be the every day shortstop, which would never work
Too bad the Yankees thought Stanton would be on the list.
Why has no one signed Bauer
🔥
Marc just hates Bichette he’s lived up to the hype totally
we cannot keep pretending that bauer would be a good pitcher in MLB rn lmaooooo
Bauer was literally 3rd in early CYA polls halfway through 2021, we need to stop pretending he fell off.
@@greatnessdelton1381 IT IS 2024 MY GUY
@@kaegerator He's 33, little bro. 90% of the top pitchers in the league are at least that old.
@@greatnessdelton1381 I'm not your little bro, and Bauer wasn't even a top pitcher in Nippon last year, it's not surprising that abuser doesn't have a contact
@@kaegerator You're "little bro" until further notice. Do something about it, little bro.
Bauer had a 2.59 ERA in 156 IP and 160 K's, so like many things in your life, this was a lie too.Was a better pitcher than Shota Imanaga last season, lol.
"Abuser"-abusing your feelings doesn't count as a form of abuse, little bro. But Blake Snell, Matt Chapman, and Cody Bellinger must be putting up Chamberlain numbers by that logic then, because they don't have contracts either.
Judge 5,6,7 ?? He’s top 3
Freddie freeman not being here is insane, Mr Consistent not being in a top 10 is criminal
Expecting the soon to be 35 year old 1B to still be a top 10 player in the league is a huge reach. You wouldn't have put him top 10 without the hindsight we have today and you know it.
Here a buy or sell for your video Bello blows out this year with 11-11 , 180Ks , 2.10 era , WHIP 1,000 and 180 innings
i am number one
Alright Marc, I forgive you for everything for properly predicting the NL MVP next season.
why do you have Bregman at 30 but J-Ram at top 10? i dont disagree but looking at their numbers, they are very similar still other than stolen base numbers
Since 2020: Jose Ramirez leads Bergman in WAR (20.8 vs 12.6), HR (106 vs 66) RBI (355 vs 268), SB (85 vs 5), Batting average (.278 vs .261), SLG (.519 vs .442), OPS (.878 vs .803), OPS+ (143 vs 123) and more. The only stat Bregman leads in is OBP, but that’s mute when JRam has a way higher ops
@@JramLisztfan. i dont really care much for the counting stats, as Bregman had two seasons since 2020 where he was injured. you are also leaving out both of their primes in 2018-2019. you either need to include 2018 and 2019 and talk prime of their careers or just include current years with 22 and 23. i looked at their 2023 seasons and aside from stolen bases, it was quite similar. J-Ram took the OPS and Batting Average by a slight margin, but they had similar WAR, similar power numbers and run production. and J-Ram also gets a lot of help from the fact that he leads the league in intentional walks every year because he has no one else in the lineup pitchers are scared to pitch to. Bregman hits behind Yordan and has Tucker hitting behind him
The Ohtani obsession has a little annoying. Obviously I know he is great and deserves to be near the top of any ranking but for people to keep saying he is clearly better than Acuna Jr. that no other player comes close and act like it's a foregone conclusion because he also sometimes pitches is dumb and hypocritical. So he is one of the best hitters and he sometimes pitches? Ok well Acuna put up better numbers in many categories and he plays the field, something Ohtani obviously doesn't do. Are we to act like when healthy Ohtani taking the mount every 10 days or so contributes more to the team than Acuna playing the field and all that entails every one of those nights? Maybe there are stats he does better in and that makes sense, he's one of the top 2 hitters but to try and say he's the best player overall certainly isn't a given. Of course no player is worth 70 mil a year and though with the deferred money it won't hurt the Dodgers now but when they are paying an older retired player 68 mil a year for 10 years it most certainly will hamper them if not downright cripple them. They paid him as the best hitter and also the best pitcher (which he is not, sorry) when he only makes slightly more than half the starts of other aces which is crazy. Especially considering it's very likely he pitching days likely aren't long for this world. I guess the Dodgers should start squirreling away all that extra money Ohtani likely brings in.

The 2023 team predictions are so bad lol
rip freddie freeman
He said Judge is a 5,6,7 best player in the league more like top 3
Yelich not top 50 on your list is just wrong sorry
Wander Franco 😔😔 if he get back to the MLB he will be in the next list
Only list he’ll be on is the registrar
No Freeman?
Aaron Judge is a top 2 player in the league. Not 5,6-7.
Ohtani and Acuna Jr are better, so that automatically invalidates your claim.
@@greatnessdelton1381 how is Acuña better? Judge has been the better player every single year by a large margin. Judge absolutely wipes Acuña in career average numbers.
@@aerpx "Every single year", this isn't 2022, buddy. Acuna Jr was far better than Judge last year. Hell, even Seager was, lol. Also, at least Acuna Jr can stay healthy. Judge has missed significant time in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2023. Glass cannon.
"But but career stats are better", by this logic Max Scherzer is better than Gerrit Cole right now.
@@greatnessdelton1381 since when can Acuña stay healthy lmao? Scherzer and Cole are incomparable in that way. You act like Judge is old and washed up while he still was as good last year as he was 2022, he just had an unlucky injury.
@@greatnessdelton1381 you put every single year in quotes, and have no stats to turn down my statement. Probably because of the fact that my statement was factual so there is no arguing it. None of these players have had anything close to 2022 Judge, health is the only thing stopping him. He clears every player not named Shohei Ohtani.
