  • This was a 2-day 1-night winter backpacking trip to the summit of San Gorgonio, the highest peak in Southern California at 11,503 feet. Robert and I started at the Vivian Creek trailhead (6,100 ft) and set up our base camp in the snow at High Creek (9,300 ft). It was so windy that night we hardly slept. Fortunately we were still able to summit the next day! The date of this trip was Jan 27th and 28th, 2024. Also, check out Robert's video from this trip: • SURVIVING WINTER BACKP...

Great video. Thank you. I’ve only done San Jacinto a few times but this is on my list. Beautiful up there.

Bringing back memories of the last time I tried camping on san Gorgonio, I was set up at the summit and underestimated how cold and windy it would be, I ended up not being able to sleep because of the cold, had to hike back down the entire mountain from midnight to 4am haha

Really like your videos. Thanks for the good quality👌

Looks like a great (but tough) hike with all that snow. David- you must be part mountain goat. It didn't sound like you were even breathing hard on those ascents while narrating.

We climbed that peak, in summer, with the YMCA camp in that area. Early '60s. They called it Greyback. The staging are was called "Slushy Meadows". Thank you for the video.
