Wow how lovely that is. very special
I LOVED them in The Parent Trap! To discover that their ancestors lived 2 blocks from each other and the actresses becoming friends generations later is amazing. Ancestry sure knows how to get people emotional up here.
I thought that they would find out that they were actually related which would be AWESOME!!!!!
Neat 🙂 she played the role of the fortunate hunter in the remake of the parent trap didn’t she?
No, that role was played by Elaine Hendricks.
Can I just say that these two families should be so extremely proud that their great grandchildren’s paths crossed. It was absolutely fate. I’ve always had a lot of respect for both of these actresses
Finding out about your family is so awesome, my daughter did genealogy research and found through her father that she had an ancestor that was a slave from Africa and was brought here by a Dutchman in 1720, his son wrote down his father's history in a application for a pension as a veteran of the American revolution. The application is in the national archives, what I find so pointed is my daughter is blond and blue eyed, which proves how stupid racism is, we're bonded as Americans and shouldn't be divided over skin color.
Same!
Wow!!!!
I really wish people could just wake up. We’re being divided over nonsense.
My mom found out that both she and my dad have a connection to The Mayflower. John Alden Sr. is both my mom's and dad's Mayflower ancestor and also linked the Witch trials.
As well as by pure chance are also related to Chrisptor Meloni. He had an ancestor on his mother's side taken at 14 by Indians from Mattasutts , marched to what was then French Canada. The dates, names, locations and story line match what happened to an ancestor of mines brother who was taken.
It is amazing what you can find about who you are.
50 year old man here and I still think "Parent Trap " was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time. Get stuck watching every time they show it on TV and I can't finish what I was doing because of it. ....
"they won 'cause look at us" got me. those who came here to make a better life for themselves but also those whe come after and a lot dont get to see the results of their huge life decision. live your life knowing someone sacrificed everything to give it to you
Support new immigrants, they're our future pride
Omg chessy is a twin mom? That’s awesome. Edit: not only twins, identicals!
Born October 11th!
Lisa Ann, you brought me to tears! I haven't seen those videos in years. I'm Uncle Michael's daughter. Haven't seen you since we were kids. I'm so glad you got to have that experience with your sons.
You’re related to Lisa Anne?? That’s Awesome.
She's gorgeous and her kids are all adorable. I laughed when she described her gran. Lisa has on high platforms so you know she's tiny herself. Unless we are 100% Native American we are all immigrants from other faraway lands. Many forget this considering how immigrants are being shunned, they are doing the very things our ancestors did. They all want a better life for their families. Considering the shootings, political upheaval, and high cost of living in America we should be grateful that anyone wants to come here.
She’s about 5’4”
European immigrants mostly and some were not allowed in and returned. We had a war with Mexico so they werent allowed.
"Native Americans" ancestors came from Asia.
They came here legally.
Repeat: They came here legally….and in a controlled, orderly manner so as not to overwhelm existing resources or cause harm to American citizens already living here! Big difference!
She’s stunningly beautiful-but it’s not just external-it’s her personality combined with.
I love how wonderful her relationship is with her sweet sons
Oh my God, she came to United States on the same day as my widowed great great grandmother Olympia and her two kids Josephine and Mary… same boat, same day and year
Loved her in Parent Trap.
The direct ancestors of me and my best friend knew each other in 1787 in future Tennessee. And, Ancestry has the documents to prove it! Amazing ❤
A friendship that was destined to be 👏
This video made me cry 🥹
It’s beautiful ❤️
As a fan if Lisa for so many years, seeing her this happy and moved, with her kids, family, friends, it’s just a joy I can’t describe, loved it so much. 💗
Lisa's joy is so infectious 🙌
My grandma came over from Italy in 1910 16 all alone. Teens back then were entirely different than those of today.
Yes they were. There was no Teenager culture then. If you were lucky, you had a few years education for the basics then went to work as early as possible. Everyone in the family worked because they Had to.
Lisa Ann seems like such an absolute warm light of a human being. Theres so much genuine love in this video.
Thats beautiful, knowing your great grandparents lived down the block from each other on the same street. Also, to the brave 14 year old girl that came to this country. To search for a better life and looking up at Lady Liberty 🗽 as she sail in. That takes guts to travel alone, much love and props to her. Beautiful Beautiful story, take you for sharing. ❤️
It's like she's recreating her emotional scene from The Parent Trap, only for real this time:)
That is Wild! To have their kids meet generations later on a movie set and become besties In 6 hours...Wow
Loved it! You can really feel the love and respect those boys have for their mother. Also I hope we'll see those 2 actresses work together again, they're both great at their work.
Her Parent Trap character is my most favorite!
Oh, my God... This was such a lovely presentation! These 2 women were amazing on The Parent Trap, making it so memorable. It was wonderful and heartwarming to see them now and hear about this beautiful generational connection. Thank you!
Chessy and Meredith Blake forever!
Lisa reminds me of my mm
So beautiful, I adore Lisa Ann Walter and to see her so closely connected to her co-star through family.........So beautiful!!!!
Love this , l was adopted so every thing was unexpected! But my family growing up are my only real family , the DNA family seems so distant.
My real family’s story was shocking , that they were actually Jewish on my father’s side from Vienna. That many of them were murdered by the Natzi’s , most did get out and the most shocking was that my father had a half brother no one knew about until his grandson contacted me and my father’s cousin was a baron .
My DNA shocker was that there were 12 siblings from the mountains of NC and WV and my DNA father was a moonshiner . Two totally different worlds on both sides .
Lisa you are blessed to have such a good memory and pass the history onto your kids. The best lesson we can give our kids is to never forget where we came from.
Hi, through ancestry, I have found an older 1/2 sister I knew nothing about, twin 1/2 brothers younger than me, and contacted a cousin I didn’t know anything about. Mind blowing, all in about a year, I have seen photos of my family in uk I knew nothing about, it is just so amazing. I now know who I am. Thank you ancestry.I have also seen the place where my great great grandparents on my mums side. That I knew nothing about. Thank you ancestry, I am sometimes overwhelmed with what I have found.
What I forgot to say is I am 71 years old, and just found my eldest 1/2 sister and family. Amazing.
She has some very fine looking sons. I love the story. It’s truly the American story.
I love seeing these stories! Need more full length episodes!
PBS has it so you can binge if you want to

My grandfather was born in 1896 and lived at 10 Elizabeth St. I’m sure they all knew each other. ❤
This brought me to tears, I don’t know anything about my family and those that know our story don’t want to talk about the past.
These two are still beautiful women..amazing history..My grandparents came to America in 1900 with potatoes in his pocket and a grapevine which is still thriving today…
My great-grandmother came over from Sweden at 13 and alone. She worked on the ship to pay her passage. She was a maid in New York City until she married my great-grandfather and moved to rural New York state.
Parents having to put their children in an orphanage during hard times was fairly common, right through the Depression and right up through WWII. Fathers whose wife died leaving him with several children, widows or women whose husbands simply left them had to put their children into orphanages, usually being able to retrieve them when they were in better circumstances, often after remarrying. Some children were in and out of orphanages numerous times. My own half-brother and sister, my birth-father’s children from his second marriage (I was from his third) were in and out of the children’s home (aka orphanage) a number of times, all after WWII.
Our father, as much as we loved him, liked the idea of being a family man… he just didn’t like it in FACT. His upbringing was chaotic. His mother, my grandmother, died when he was 7, I think. His two sisters and he were shuffled back and forth to his grandparents’ house until his father hired a housekeeper. She had a number of children and she treated Dad like he was unwanted. Then she and my grandfather married. My aunts stayed at the farm while Dad continued to be shuffled back and forth. It’s little wonder that he had no idea what parenting, or even marriage should be like. Dad walked out on his first wife and their daughter when our sister was 3. He remarried just after WWII (he and his second wife were in the Army during the war). He walked out on his second wife when my sister was 3… pattern… In 1955, he married my Mom. I arrived in 1956… He left when I was almost 2.
I was lucky. Mom had been a teacher so went back to teaching.
He never really supported any of his children. Thankfully, while he married a 4th time, there were no more children.
Lisa watching the video and getting emotional made me tear up...my nonna from Sicily was my everything.
I love this!! I love this style of story telling too- so beautiful!
Loved the film and cast, and it was so cool seeing them reunite and talk about the experiences. Thanks so much for this video!!
Oh my god. The years have been so kind! She's so beautiful. ❤
Lisa is so adorable 🥺❤️
My great grandmother and her six siblings were placed in a orphanage by their father too during th3 depression when their mother died. When he remarried a year later he got my grandmother and and one sister out they were the oldest. He brought them home to take care of the new babies he was making 🤨 . She had an incredibly hard life. She worked as a house cleaner her entire life . She took buses to the different homes i never saw her wear anything but a dress even to work and she always wore dress shoes. She was a very hard women very unforgiving but she always made me sweet poppyseed rolls which were my favorite as a child
It's such a beautiful story, and it moved me to tears.
My great-great grandma (moms side) came from Scotland. Her daughter was born in Ireland. Her daughter was born in England- my GRANDMOM. GRANDMOM married a man from same town and came to America in 1911. My aunt was just 2 years old at the time. My mom was born in America in 1921. On my dad's side, my great grandfather was German, his wife was French. They came to America and their son Otto, my grandfather was born in America in 1900. His wife was from Ireland, also born in 1900. My dad was also born in 1921. Both my mom and dad's parents lived in Philadelphia, not too far from each other!!!
Always been a fan of Lisa Ann. Congratulations on the connection with your ancestors. And friends
My great grandmother came to America in the 1910s at 5 years old. She was from a Polish Jewish family, and her dad found work in Chicago, and sent for her, her mom and sister. Just imagine what could have been had they not left Poland. Then years later I find out that on my maternal grandfathers side, he had familial ties to a village in Lithuania, and there were distant relatives who were murdered by the Nazis who raided their village.
What a twist of fate! What is the most unexpected story you've discovered in your family history?
We have found so many great stories, but along the lines of this story, I discovered that someone I have known for over thirty years is also descended from Richard Warren. We are 8th cousins, 1x removed! My own personal revelation was about my name. I was named after my grandmother but I didn't know until I started developing the family tree that she had been named after her two grandmothers.
2 of my ancestors fought each other in the Civil War. One was with the 33rd Alabama, the other was with the 33rd Wisconsin and they both fought in the Battle of Nashville. Also, the Wisconsin man was severely wounded and almost died in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Spanish Fort is about an hour's drive from the Alabama man's hometown.
I have only two best friends in my life. At 27 I found out that both of their grandparents were my great aunt and great uncle. After using Ancestry I found out through matching relatives that my biological father lived only 10 minutes from me. And Pocahontas is my 15th great grandmother and I’m related to 42 of the US Presidents
My and my ex’s families have lived within blocks of each other in at least three different counties since the late 1800s (and still do). It’s crazy.
Wow, how touching to find out you're your family's namesake! @@martast.john-anders6448
THis was beautiful. I always liked this actress. She has this sassiness to her.
Makes me wonder...how connected we are, not just by chance but by spirit.
The human soul is amazing.
That was lovely. Thank you for sharing.
IM SOBBING
I loved the stories tell are amazing. Good story and brighter new generations. Beautiful.
This is what’s so cool about generations going forward. They will most likely have video recordings of ancestors going back several generations. Think about how far back they will eventually be able to see their ancestors. So cool!
I barely remember my great grandmother (in person) and only have photos of her. Nothing further back than that.
Lisa love your demeanor you are down to earth and real. Huge fan
Soooo...I work voraciously on my genealogy. One great-grandmother was here in the Jamestown Virginia area to meet the first settlers. My grandfather told us that when we were kids. We thought it was a tall tale...but nope, totally true...and several others arrived on the Mayflower.
I'm predominantly from Great Britain and Northwestern Europe...and I'm directly descended from royalty...several times over.
I have a Masters in History and my FAVORITE period of history is Medieval European History...and I descend from several prominent figures of that time.
Loved the show. Delighted by the connection.
awww it's so sweet that she want's to share with her children her familial heritage their familial heritage I think it's grate
I love this woman. And I love her family history.
Lisa has an amazing family and wonderful kids.
As an adult, I met someone who became my best friend. We are the same age, and discovered that as babies, we had lived in the same small town over 200 miles away...within two streets of each other.
Wow how about that!!!
Congratulations on finding more than what you already knew!!!
Oh how much I love this!
I love these videos!!! I wish I knew more about my roots. 😢❤
Jesse my favorite parent trap character next to the dad and Lindsay
Whst a sweet family and friendship 🥰
Love this so much
For a minute i thought you was gonna say you and Elaine were related, but that's pretty cool you guy's families lived not to far from each other
I'm going to tell you this is the completely legit; it works I found my father 46 years later. I now have 2 new younger brothers, one sister, a lot of cousins and, uncles and have my grandmother's face.
That's wonderful! We are happy to hear that you have found so many new family members. Have you had a chance to meet up with any of them?
@@AncestryUS yes we've met this past weekend for the first time since I was born; i reached out to a cousin who was in my matches, who reached out to my brothers, who connected me my father; who connect me to my aunt (looks more like me than my own mother) and I have to meet the rest his brothers. I thank ancestry for making this possible. Mother's family will be a lot more difficult.
Loved this show! Can't wait to see more.
Hi Sabrina, thank you for taking the time out of your day to engage with us! We are delighted to hear that you enjoy the show, stay tuned for more in the future, we're sure you won't be disappointed! We hope you have a wonderful day!
I love her character in Abbott Elementary❤❤
Sounds like my great grandma. She was 99 when she passed. Came from Italy to New York, married my great grandfather when she was 14. She was 4'11ish, had 10 kids (only ONE is still alive and that's my grandma).
My granny was 100 in 2003, then died in 2004.
Great stories ❤
Beautiful
Mamma and her sons❤
Watching this with a smile on my face 😊
How fun - much appreciation for strong women!! 🥰
Totally awesome
My favorite holiday has always been the 4th Of July/Independence Day. Now I know why. My 6x Great-grandpa on my mom's side (through her mom) was a private in the American Revolutionary War. On my dad's side my 6x Great-grandpa was a captain in George Washington's Army. It's no wonder it's my favorite holiday. It's literally in my blood.
Such a beautiful family ❤❤
Love this. I too have three sons. What a blessing to share these special moments with them.
I love this❤❤❤! I have Sicilian ancestry too! But the very cool part of your story is that there is a book called “Elizabeth Street” I can’t remember the author’s name but it is a second person account of Italian immigrants on the street where your family lived! It is so revealing, in many ways. I hope you get the chance to read it. This was great Lisa, much success to you.
Hi Tina, thank you for taking the time out of your day to engage with us! Omg Meredith and Chessy are together again after 25 years of making the parent trap together
Still not over how special this reunion is! 👏
Love Love Love!! 💜💜💜
Those two were incredible in The Parent Trap and will always be Chessy and Meredith Blake to me! I have 3x great-grandparents who immigrated in 1888 to NYC and lived at 81 Mulberry Street, NYC in the 1900 census. Their story and stories from that time have not been passed down to my generation which is unfortunate! Their names were Maria and Francesco (Frank) Mangini and later was changed to Mancini. Frank died in 1910 and Maria in 1929. I wish I had more pictures from that area of NY back then, perhaps I could see them among the crowds and learn what their life was like.
Souls find each other 💕
Past/last life besties 💫
Elaine and Lisa are both so gorgeous. I hope to age as gracefully as them.
My great grandmother was 12 years old when she traveled from eastern Prussia through Ellis Island shortly after World War I. All she had was a note that said Berlin Wisconsin. Different time and place for sure!
I just love her...
How cool!
Side note-Lisa Ann is epic smart on Jeopardy!!!
I love Lisa❤
LOVE LOVE LOVE FAMILY
This makes me so happy. Parent Trap is literally my favorite movie of all time. I've watched it every year on October 11th since I could remember 🥹
Such an epic moment for us Parent Trap fans!
Same!!! WITH my Oreos and peanut butter, of course 😉
@@AncestryUSI’m wondering if Lisa Anne who played Chessy on The Parent Trap and the Blonde who played Meredith would end up actually being related?????
Love the family!!
We are delighted you have enjoyed this episode, Susan! We hope you love the rest of the season just as much.
That was beautiful
Too dang cool!
My family also lived right nearby.
I’m gonna try Ancestry someday and learn more about my family
My grandfather came to Ellis Island from Monte Forte, Italy 🇮🇹 in 1901 by himself. Worked various jobs until he asked my future grandmother and great- grandmother to come to the US. They were married April 30 1911. Moved to Mechanicville NY where my grandfather worked in salt mines and for the railroad 🛤️
6 kids- 5 girls and 1 boy. One daughter is my mother at a young 98 years old.
** Sadly I only knew my grandmother for a short period of seven years. She died in 1972.
My dad’s parents came through Ellis Island from Giovinazzo Italy 🇮🇹 in 1915. 10 children.
Never met my grandparents.
That was sweet😊
The LDS church needs to release all of the information that they collect on people, not just what we pay for on their site.
I am adopted and I never enjoyed these stories but I really did
