One thing I only noticed when I watched a different Let's Play was that Saavedro's costume there was made up of the tapestry he tore down. He apparently decided to play dress up and pretend he was a wizard.
Edanna, Voltaic, and Amateria are specifically designed to not have any people, so that Sirrus and Achenar can learn how different forces effect an Age. Narayan has people because that was meant to be the Age that taught them how if the system is balanced, then civilization will arise; You never see any other people because they fled that specific Tree after Sirrus and Achenar convinced them to let it die.
It does seem strange that Saavedro didn't modify the last message. It would've been the perfect opportunity to tell Atrus to brace himself for the final showdown.
So, there's no linking book from Narayan back to J'nanin. Or there /was/, but Saavedro took it with him when he went to visit Atrus' study. I wonder how he got to the study in the first place, if he didn't link through J'nanin first, since that's where Atrus dropped his Tomahna book?
The subtitles for the words already written on the tapestries would make it easier for people who have trouble with serif or colored fonts (such as people with dyslexia or color blindness). Although considering the importance color and text are in this game, it is difficult to accept this as an accommodation.
I realize this would be completely unlike the nature of a Myst game, but, couldn't the stranger have tried to jump Saavedro and wrestle him here? Maybe lock him up, take the Raleeshan book, etc? Alternatively, Saavedro could've tried to smash in the stranger's skull with his hammer if he'd felt like it (presumably he didn't). It's not often you get face to face contact with antagonists without a barrier in the way (such as Gehn through the cage- who, of course, might shoot you if you handled things incorrectly).
That is a good question. The best answer I can think of is that Atrus found a way to arrest the growth of the trees, which isn't practical for the city-sized trees that need to be periodically expanded.
It is Amaterian ice, just like the ball you roll in for the final ride. If you notice the massive crystal at the top of the tree, it looks a lot like the crystals used in the vibration puzzle on Amateria.
The crystals generating the shields are the part that couldn't be damaged; the ice itself can be, but since Narayan is blanketed with mists, its shields can instantly regenerate, making them effectively impervious.
That was the point of the shield. Atrus didn't put it in as part of the lessons. He put it in to keep his sons from doing any further damage to this Age. Saavedro thinks Atrus didn't care about him, but Atrus was well aware of his sons' misdeeds. That was why he put the trap books in the library on Myst Island. That was why he reached out to the Stranger in the first place. The shield was meant to keep his sons out, not Saavedro. Saavedro just doesn't realize this in his delirium.
This may sound like an ignorant question, but why are there no people in the book worlds, even tho it sounds like there are/should be from journals you get in them?
No. The shield is to keep Sirrus and Achenar from doing any more damage to this Age. Atrus knew what his sons were up to, but feared them too much to confront them directly. He knew the Stranger could deal with them as they had no connection to the Stranger. Also, the Stranger was from a different world so would be able to think differently than Atrus. This is why Sirrus and Achenar are held in the trap books on Myst Island. Though, based on what we learn from Riven, you have to wonder why the trap books did not show us anything other than a dark void and the linking panel. After all, they may have been traps, but they were still Ages like any other.
I find it funny that you make fun of the game by saying that they subtitle things that are already labeled. THEN, you go on to vocalize each and every one! Look, I'm sure that you're a real nice guy, but do you think you could do maybe just a little LESS commentary? Thanks!
the subtitles are for different languages, they're not remaking the texture for every language
The robe made out of tapestries is such a nice touch...........we love saavedro in this house!!!!

He's very polite, because he did warn us.
I saw Brad Dourif’s performance in this game without knowing he was the voice of Chuckie from Childs Play till sometime later.
He was also the disjointed Bajoran on Voyager.

Thank you captain obvious.
Just in case we can neither read the text on the tapestry nor the subtitles, Sven reads it out loud for us. :D
Incidentally, Saveedro tells you right out here that you'd better not frickin' leave until you resolve things with him.
I was afraid of this now that he knows we are in so much trouble and Atrus is in danger
Or quite the opposite as he has no idea how a "nobody" got through that difficult obstacle course. This standoff can go both ways.
Man the whole day I knew this video was hear but didn't have the time to watch it. lol
It does seem strange that Saavedro didn't modify the last message. It would've been the perfect opportunity to tell Atrus to brace himself for the final showdown.
It was deliberate, to remind Atrus of the last words his sons heard before visiting, particularly the "see all that Narayan has to offer" part.
My guess is that they either died or fled to someplace else.
Nope. Saavedro just can't see them.

This episode gave me an idea for your next series. Sven reads the dictionary! :P

If the stranger could talk, then the game would turn into an rpg
Third symbol looks rather phallic.

Saavedro does use the hammer against the Stranger in one of the bad endings
I'm just a bit confused why only this specific Tree died but the one in the sphere did not and neither the small ones with the cable for the Gondula?
That is a good question. The best answer I can think of is that Atrus found a way to arrest the growth of the trees, which isn't practical for the city-sized trees that need to be periodically expanded.
I somehow doubt the Shield is made of ice, since Saavedro has said that it can't be damaged.
Nillie The shield is made of ice, but the ice has special properties, which makes it incredibly strong.

Question is how were sirrus and his brother both able to pass the shield together

Wouldn't it be very ironic if the last symbols u need was actually written on seveadro's wardrobe?
YAY, now I have something to do at work :D
This may sound like an ignorant question, but why are there no people in the book worlds, even tho it sounds like there are/should be from journals you get in them?
What has Saavedro been surviving off of anyway?
Probably squees...there is a trap made for them on Edenna.
@@jonnyfavors7585 What does anyone live off of on Myst games? How about those eternally trapped in prison books? The answer is there is no answer.
@@cactusjackNV yea, good point.

I like his commentary.
Not the only reason his whole let's play is like movie
