    Phil is the only dude who approaches things from a logical standpoint when it comes to the draft scenarios. LT/WR/WR/Rattler is the best way to build this offense day 1. If Rattler sucks you have 2 first round picks in 2025 and you can move around wirh draft capital the same way Minnesota is looking to do in 2024

    I think the pats roster not ready for a qb is the laziest take ever here is why
    1. Patriots have a elite defense with studs like Uche, Jennings, Dugger, Marcus Jones and Peppers in their primes as well as experienced stars like Judon and Jonathan still playing at high level. Gonzalez played at an All pro level as a rookie before getting injured and has exciting potential at just 22 years old in year 2. Bentley and takitaki and tavai are still solid players in their own rights and white and mapu flashed potential and could easily break out. An elite defense means a QB does not have to score 40 points per game
    2. Underrated offensive line Strange and Sow have high upside at the guard spots and with better coaching they could take the next step. Onwenu is a unit at RT. David Andrews is a QBs best friend LT can be taken on day 2 and we have a good offensive line with Scott peters as our o line coach.
    3. Brissett is a great teacher for the rookie and he could start while the rookie learns learn from and Van Pelt is a QB expert at OC
    4. Stevenson and Gibson complement each other nicely at RB
    Lastly the receiving corps do need some work, but Henry and Pop Douglas is a good security blanket and Osborn is an underrated signing and a rd 3 wr could be a massive steal as well for the QB

    I've been the lone Spencer Rattler guy in New England for a while now, good to see someone else mention him. He is similar to Baker Mayfield, same size and arm talent, same polarizing swagger and vocal competitor. Great anticipatory thrower and throws in the middle of the field more than anyone except Maye. Unlike every other prospect running the air raid offense that doesn't work in the NFL, the last 2 years Rattler ran a pro offense, under center with pro route concepts. With the exception of Penix, no other prospect has had to survive adversity like Rattler. He is the mentally toughest prospect in the draft. He can handle the ups and downs of being a rookie, the booing, the benchings. Coddled guys like Maye and Caleb there's a big question if they can. The value for Rattler is great at 68 (or a slight trade up into the 2nd). I'd trade back for an historic haul and take Rattler. Worst case if he doesn't work out, you still have a ton of picks. Far better than swinging and missing on a high pick QB

      I've been on Rattler for a while now myself. Trading down, getting a LT at 11, a WR at 23 and 34 and Rattler at 68 followed by a TE then some Defensive depth with the rest of the picks. Weaponize the offense in the 1st draft and build from there. You'll have 2 first round picks next year, one of them probably top 10 and the other most likely inside the top 15-18

  • @augustmoon0004
    @augustmoon0004 Před 29 dny +9

    It's amazing to me that these guys were around Brady for all that time and they're still fawning over players who can run around and throw! To be a great quarterback, you need five things: a ridiculous drive to win, intelligence, accuracy, arm strength, and pocket awareness.

    • @admiralprawn
      @admiralprawn Před 28 dny +4

      Because they watched the modern NFL evolve around Brady and realized that there are other, more tangible formulas to win football games (and titles) that don't rely on Byzantine route tree philosophy and a once-in-a-generation on the field QB/OC combo making a thousand consecutive 7-yard reads.
      Sure, it's never bad to have a stalwart pocket presence behind a stout offensive line. But moving Heaven and Earth to make an archaic football model successful in 2024 when there are literal cheat codes staring you in the face is the definition of stubborn insanity.
      Just remember that prioritizing athleticism and creativity in your signal caller doesn't mean you have to ignore the other fundamentals, both in their development as a player as well as team composition. You can have it all, but you can't teach physical talent.

In this case does it matter in your opinion that there are still valuable OTs on the free agent market, but WRs not so much anymore?

    Give me a hell yes on either pick at QB Phil. It all hinges on the trade, and i think the Patriots are going to ask for to much and miss out. I know qb is an important position, but 2 day one picks sure would be nice. Im wondering How could we get 3 first day one picks? Do you think someone would give up this yrs 1st round pick for both (25 season) draft picks. One from Minnesota and ours of course. Go back to 11,23, and see if Arizona is willing to do something like that. That would be sick to end up with the 4, 11, 23 pick in this yrs draft. I think whatever it cost it would be worth it

    Rattler failed at QB University. Yes he had Caleb behind him but Williams didn't take the job. Rattler lost it. He has a chance to succeed but anyone who takes him (in round three or wherever he ends up going) is getting an inconsistent player. Throwing from different arm slots is only impressive if it leads to consistent success. Rattler hasn't shown that. Legette is a big gamble at the top of round 2 too. He did nothing until the past year (42 receptions in 4 years prior).

    Trade with Vikings 11 & 23 & Pat's 34
    #11 whichever Tackle
    #23 whichever receiver
    #34 Penix or Rattler or Pratt, but, the team has $43M in cap space for Brady or a "veteran QB trade" like Dak Prescott or whomever is possible and Pats might have an "extra high rounder" from Vikings deal for this "blockbuster QB trade.".
    Other option at #34 the Edge guy who replaces Judon when he leaves after next season.

I think Rattler is as likely to work out at the next level as Maye or Daniels... which comes with the chance to bust as well, but I'd rather bust at 34 then 3. Get your team and take a chance on a kid who has been humbled and has an amazing work ethic with some real talent to boot. His floor is low, but his ceiling is definitely Mahomes.

    I don't think the patriots could make a worse pick. This guy is hot garbage. He makes bad decisions and wilts under pressure. HARD NO!
