The interview here was solid. This guy had some really fresh takes and a bunch of intriguing late day prospects to offer that I haven’t heard mentioned. Glad to deviate from the “what to do with 3” conversation.
And it's just another reason why Phil is my favorite NE/Boston sports media reporter.
@@mattesyl33. I agree w u. The Senator is must-listen to me
Another great Vid Phil! If they go QB in the 1st, NE SHOULD go OT 2ed. They can get a WR1 in trade, like a certain X from idk... DENVER after the draft. Plus there will be solid WRs later in the draft.
Next season is NOT the goal. The goal is being really good in 2 or 3 yrs. 😁 LGPats!
P.S. My 75yr old Dad who has always LOVED college football (seeing that he played for the Wisconsin Badgers as a young man), told me about T.O.'s son Tariq Owens coming out of college this year, earlier this week. So it's pretty damn funny that he was brought up on your show.😅
When was the last time somebody was drafted that Emory didn't know about? You're the best Emory.
Amazing video. You’re the best Phil, keep up the great work
no way Phil - give up 34 for Higgins and then pay 25 million per year and 50 million guarantee? use 34 or 68 and find your own guy!
wow Coleman rated over Harrison - that's worth a swing at 34 - take the tackle later
overall thats a top notch podcast Phil - you and Emory were a great combo
TO jr ! take a late round shot on that kid
Draft prospect: Bobby “Bone Crusher” Ellis is a 6’5” 255 pound linebacker from SW Mississippi Valley JC. Ran a 4.44 40. Ex Marine, 2 years of JC. 21 years old. Son of Freddy Ellis former Canadian League player. Diamond in the rough!
Tyler Guyton reminds me of Nate Solder. Both are in that 6-8 320lbs range, have similar analytics and are former basketball players turned tackle who are light on their feet. Having a left tackle with the mobility like Guyton might be the perfect pairing for a QB like Jayden Daniels who tends to leave the pocket and go.
Drake maye at 3 and Legette at 34. Would be great for the pats.
Corley is a beast. Love to get him. I’m from Kentucky. Pats need some strong WRs.
For pick 103, the "holy ---- he's still there?" guy... T'Vondre Sweat. Sprint to the podium
I'm hoping for the same thing! If Bill was still here he'd be all over that
There will be a massive run on both WRs and Tackles starting in the 20s. Trade up into the 20s to have access to guys like Guyton, Amarius Mims, AD Mitchell, Brian Thomas Jr
That run is gonna start well before the 20s my friend. We might get Mitchell but there's no way we get Brian Thomas. Better off grabbing a tackle
I don't think Thomas makes it out of the teens.
If Amarius Mims is still there late in 1st round, I would trade back to get him. IMO he has a bigger upside than that LT from U of Washington Fashtuada?( not sure if that is correct spelling). Mims is 6'8" 340 lbs. and has really quick feet and isn't a fat or chubby 340, he is a brick wall.
@@tjk9263he's a right tackle. Need a true LT and how things looking chuk will be staring LT
You’re not considering the value of the just how deep this WR class is. WR #16 this year could still be a legit playmaker at the #2 spot this year like what Jordan Addison did last year in Minnesota. Thanks to their being something like 20 guys that are GREAT in either value, talent, or both, I think GM’s will be saying to themselves “We can get one later, we need to get the Tackle now”
UTSA has some studs. Y’all slept on Tariq Woolen, don’t make that same mistake with Joshua Cephas
If pats can end up with Roman Wilson or Corley and one of Coleman, Leggette, Baker or Walker I think our future will be super bright on offense and Maye will have plenty of opportunity to show off
Swing for the fence Phil! Thats what its gping to take to make this tram competitive next season... I get it im a nobody but i smart enough to know it takes more than one guy to make a team run right...
KEON COLEMAN I REALLY LIKE IT AND WR JOHNNY WILSON! 6’7 HE CAN BE TIGHT END! AND BRIAN THOMAS. WE NEED A TALL WR.
I like the prospect of trading for a receiver *after* the draft, because we will be using next year's draft capital, but I'd be ecstatic with trading for Tee or AJ regardless of when. I think picking a rookie QB and a rookie WR is tough, but maybe the rookie WR beds in this year, ready to support out rookie QB after he sits a year.
Trade a future pick tee
@@user-cd1di8nq7g I feel it, man!
Drake Maye is a running weapon on his own 😊
Chiefs want to win the Super Bowl every year, and they had no problem dumping Sneed and Tyreek in their primes. Almost every 🔝 WR has been traded in recent years, so I wouldn't be surprised if Aiyuk, Higgins and AJ Brown are traded soon
Indeed, let's also not forget... no SB winning team has won one with a top 5 paid WR. You've got to draft well... strike at key positions early and have a balanced cap
While you're talking about Guyton, I'm watching Rouse on the other side. A guy who can be had multiple rounds later and has played left tackle for 3 years
This dude Emory is great, gonna look into his draft guide….
ESPN analytics draft simulator (along with all the rest of em) seems to think the Vikings would trade both of their first rounders for the #3 pick. Could potentially walk away with Bo Nix and Brian Thomas Jr. In the first and still get whatever OT they were lookin at in the second. I think thats a better move than Maye or Daniels in the first, ur OT in the secomd and having to wait till the 3rd to get him a weapon.
1 way: trade with Minnesota but instead of 3 1sts you trade for 11,23, future 3rd , and Darrisow . That solves your OL. Then you can draft 2 WR with 11 and 23 (or Pennix and AD Mitchell) then you can draft another Tackle with 34.
Two questions from a longtime patriots fan and lover of football. First, any chance Brady will come back to the Pats? Second, Aaron Rodgers is clearly crazy, are the Jets going to keep him?
Get Tez Walker for Drake Maye. The college stacks work in nfl
What if they take their future QB then move up for a wide receiver this year they have Owenu they could find someone to plug the line with and play Brissett. Next year we could go for a higher pick for the lineman we want and grab another receiver in the second. We need the QB first.
Wle need a bunch 6' 2" linemen as wide as they are tall like the old Broncos lines 😂. When Elway played his linemen were never tall dudes but absolute power houses.
I'm not giving up 34 for Higgins. AJ Brown, different story. Keep in mind, Phil, as much as we want to fill all these major needs in one year, its not likely. BTW, Johnny Wilson isn't going to be great. Big FSU fan so watched most of their games.
At this point we still looking for Thornton, juju, and boutee to be gone
Sorry Phil, OT Tyler Guyton is a late 20's 1st round pick. If the Patriots want Guyton, it will take picks 2/34 and Patriots early 4th round pick to get him.
Coleman Big X WR who returns punts. Wasn’t Nkeal Harry a Punt Returner in College?
We did nothing to develop nkeal. Bill always punished rookies for any little mistake destroying their confidence. Gotta give guys touches and get them going. Lots of injuries too. Coleman giving me Mike Evan’s type of energy when he was carrying Johnny
TRADE UP FOR BRIAN THOMAS JR 🙏
WR Malachi Corley would be a great 3/68 pick. Slot WR. Pop Douglas is small and has already missed time last season because of his size. Corley is THICK!
Morgan is not size and length. Thats not shrug. Thats blowing the draft by 34 out of position desperation
This guy is out here being a truther for every code red scenario
Please trade down from 3, Rome, Penix, Kingsley or Morgan
Why not trade up from the 68 to the mid 50s to draft a WR?? You guys act like there isn't the possibility of that happening.
Even Bill traded up a few times when there was someone he really wanted, like Gronk, Hightower, Uche... If a WR they really like falls to the 55th pick they should trade up and I think they will.
Shouldn’t you be drafting LT not RT?
Only one true left tackle in this draft; Joe Alt will be a top ten pick; Jets would grab him at ten without hesitation. Every other left tackle is probably going to switch to right tackle or guard in the NFL.
I like Blake Fisher in the 3rd. I think he can move back to LT and do well.
No phil we out on tez walker completely, not a route runner and he drop alot of balls
His drop rate was less than MHJ and Brian Thomas jr in 2023 lol
@jeffwheeler1893 not at all , it's johnny wilson , Javon baker , then tez walker if u being technical, at 8.5 % so try again
@@tonystarks7722 WTF you talking about. I didn't mention any of those guys. Just said he's got a better drop rate than 2 of the best WR in the draft but you go get yours boss man. And his drop rate is 6.8%
@jeffwheeler1893 again u lieing , I named the other guys that his drop rate was with , so... again senior bowl week he was terrible check your tape
@@jeffwheeler1893 mind you the he only played a few games lol
He said Keon over Marvin he bugging
I don’t want Coleman another Davante Parker no thanks
Simple, draft MHJ and draft a QB in later rounds!
Guyton sounds like trent brown.. id skip at 34.. maybe move down and if he's available, take him.
Facts
get rid of the owner, and bring back bill that would work.
you're not going to become what you once were by crapping on everything he did. you'll find that he was so far to the successful side that distancing yourself from that model will position you in the territory of mediocre and inconsistent and very soft. i expect this team to be so weak that they can't even compete. they may look like everyone else. but the elite teams don't look like everyone else. they have a very distinctive feature that makes them exotic and when you pay lip service to it and blame people for stuff they didn't do you create a culture of lies and inconsistencies that may give the owner an air of comfort. but when chasing rings you'll start to realize bill did very specific things for very specific reasons. he wasn't just "doing things"
and he knew that wide recievers and QB's were a 50/50 shot in the first RD. they just are. the numbers check out. the best picks to choose are tackles because they are in the physically demanding area of the team that demands they constantly perform a specific task or they can get hurt. Wide receivers are like a cosmetic nuisance. the patriots use to create their own or find diamonds later rounds because the further away they are the more they feel they have to prove. And so you tend to find more animal-like obsession with training from people that aren't simply gifted. And WR's have these diva issues and tend to e selfish. their unhinged demands can break the core principles of a team if they are entertained to the teams determent. if they can't fit within the structure of the team. they will break the team into scattered pieces.
How successful were Belichick's disciples trying to be and act like Bill Belichick?
There is only one Bill Belichick, and Jerod Mayo shouldn't try to be him.
Yeah elite teams have elite QB's. That's their distinctive feature lol
Bill would not take advantage of this offensive draft he would get 3 defensive players with the first few picks and reach for mid offense players with wannabe tupac criminal records later on who could have got in udfa
Why does Phil say yes to Hell? It's a real place I read about in the Bible.
lost all credibility when he said coleman over harrison
I like that he has his own takes based on research. If you want mindless group think where everyone agrees on the same players because they are scared of being embarrassed, watch more Curran, PFF, mina kimes
@@Daniel_Capitaldon’t tell me who to watch kid. people can have different takes but to put him over harrison jr is complete delusion.
Purchase a draft guide 😂
Pat's Fans:
1/3 QB Drake Maye
2/34 OT Kingsley Suamataia
3/68 S Kamren Kinchens
Or OT Blake Fisher
This is a 3 year rebuild.
Pats fans want Marvin Harrison Jr. at pick three.
@@dchenkin02not all of us
@@dchenkin02 NOT very intelligent Pat's fans.
The eff no body cares about QB we went the best player and that’s Harrison jr
So, Phil, you talk about 3 Hall of Fame sone being in the draft, & this guy says you’re kind of a POS to mention it. Lol! 😂
