      Phil is way more involved in the x's and o's than a typical beat reporter i'd say.
      I appreciate his work to internalize all that stuff plus analytics and even the way he goes about making comps.

      One thing I haven't seen talked about with drafting Maye and sitting him is that we can essentially tank for another season. Having another year with top picks combined with an aggressive offseason in free agency as Maye enters season 2 could be what it takes to make a real step forward as a franchise.

    I like how JD and DM can put air under the ball on downfield passes with touch as opposed to JJ and MP throw more fast balls. This gives receiver time to adjust to the ball. Russell Wison was great at doing this.

      McCarthy might be a perfect pick for a more established team that needs a leadership more than elite QB play. Think the 49ers style situation. I can't see someone like McCarthy having success with a franchise like the Patriots that needs an elite QB to lift us out of the gutter.

    These guys.....SMH if Michael enix is throwing to nothing but 3rd round talent then he is clearly the guy. and they are saying, well, he's not a high 1st round talent but he'll go by the end of the first part. wha?
    if he's doing all that with smoke and mirrors and he's taking all that damage. my god man, if that kid turns into a gamer and JJ mccarthy wilts because he's not playing behind "fort Knox" any longer and has to actually thrive in adversity and Drake maye takes 4 years to be turned into Mac Jones..... I'm going to be pissed. because it seems to me that they have their minds made up on who they want and lets face it the who'll Irish thing plays big in this area. but the last QB ya had who was Irish was dogs*t. forget about the whole Irish lineage crap and just pick the best player available. whether that's penix or Harrison. stop making excuses for dudes that have all the breaks and excluding guys who had to battle from adversity.

    3rd pick overall is too high to not draft a day 1 starter. Just my opinion. Draft a WR and put weapons around JB. You can Draft a qb a later round.

  • @scaps2200
    @scaps2200 Před měsícem

    So, most of these QB's will be a bust. Either wrong situation, not that good, or injuries. It is just a gamble. Trade back. Get a WR and OT. Pick up Penix or Rattler later in draft.

  • @nunyabusiness8527
    @nunyabusiness8527 Před měsícem +1

    Better to trade down.Get Bo Nix and some extra picks. Reload that offensive line and the wide receiver core.And you're instantly competitive again. If you go with Drake, maye you're getting your offensive tackle at the second round and then you're not looking for a weapon for him until the third, it's stupid. If you trade down and can pick up a couple of extra second and/or third round draft picks, That way you can actually give your new quarterback some weapons. If you get drake maye this year, he fails, and that's all there is to it. He"'ll have a good left tackle, and his best weapons will be a couple of thirty year old tight ends and a third round wide receiver. You draft down, get Nix or Penix grab and extra pick or two in the second, all of a sudden a "stepping stone" draft becomes a game changer draft amd theyre at the least competitive next year.

      I guess the argument is that the QB has more value in the game than WR or OT. It's not impossible to hit on a QB further down the draft, but you're more likely to have a game changer near the top. Also, depending how far you trade down, you might not get that game changing OT or WR, just a "very good" one. All the elites (Nabers, MHJ, Odunze, Alt) are going in the top ten.

    • @bennyvanlit8136
      @bennyvanlit8136 Před měsícem +2

      So, in the end, you might get a WR2, a OT1/2 and then a QB that is okay. And then you are in that rotational hell where you compete but aren't bad enough to draft an elite QB. Unless you find a Dak or a Wilson or, dare I say it, a Brady. But there's not more than a handful in 20 years.

    • @nunyabusiness8527
      @nunyabusiness8527 Před měsícem

      @@bennyvanlit8136 ur logic on this subject is obviously provided to you by the media, Drake Maye is another Sam Darnold, another Zach Wilson. An arrogant player (who will fail in the NFL), made so by ease of surroundings. He's never struggled because of the failings of teammates. And hes got the wrong attitude for NE. "I'm a proven winner!" Couldnt even get Brady to say sumthin like that after 6 rings.
