You can replace the jack with the Baggs jack. I've done it on three guitars. You just have to twist harder and it will break lose. You also have to drill out the hole a small amount because the Baggs it's slightly larger. I bypass the Expression System completely and use only the Anthem.
Great experiment! I always wonder if I could combine a mic/anthem on the ES2 and how will it sound. I can hear the blend sounded more fuller.
I have adjusted the hex screw of my ES2 from both of my Taylors and it sounded less harsh and more balanced. Have you tried adjusting the hex screws and blending it with the Anthem? Great work by the way👏🏼👏🏼
Is it me, or is the piezo-only sound exceedingly cleaner and clearer through the Anthem pre-amp as compared to when it runs through the Taylor ES2 preamp? My ES2 factory systems sound terrible .... I have replaced both of them with a different retro-fitted system (GoAcousticAudio).
The mic popping really adds veneer to your production qualities. When you care so little about such things you might as well have drilled a hole.
Do the ES2 controls still work with this setup?
No, unfortunately not. That would require a lot more wiring/hacking than I think is worth it. I have seen others take the knobs out completely but I just left mine. The controls are on the main LR Baggs unit that sits just under the sound hole. They're easy enough to use.
Do you mean you didn't want to drill a hole in the saddle slot to route the under-saddle LR Baggs braid? Most guitars, even flagships of many top makers, ship guitars with that hole pre-drilled. Do yourself a favor, install the Anthem outright, and sell that ES-2 for parts. You'll never look back. And yes, you'll have to address the Taylor set screws in the bridge (sheesh), somehow.

Just have a GO Acoustic Taylor replacement system. Problem solved.
Have you used it? Ive been looking into that...
I haven't because I have a Maton guitar which has the best pickup system I've used. Two friends of mine swear by them. They are pricey and you really need a qualified person to install it. Since their made in Nashville I would call up Carter Vintage Guitars or Gruhn Guitars and get their opinion. Make sure you tell them how you play or what style you play. The 2 guys I know fingerpick. Hope this helps
Terrible it was a sound comparison I was looking for
Probably should've read the title a little better then.
