    This is a nice upgrade indeed! One of the things I like about the Anthem is you can play with a TON of dynamics. Once in a while in a solo acoustic setting, I'll really dig in and strum like you did in this demo. The Anthem has never sounded clippy and distorted from really driving it. That was my only concern when you mentioned this updated version would be hotter, but I'm very pleased to hear it handled the aggressive strumming just fine!

      Agree . Having the preamp integrated into the output jack complicates matters. I’m wiring the elements to a stereo jack (3 pole) going into dual source mono or 2 amps

    Nice to see Gibson on the channel, I really want a Martin 000-28, but I feel the D-G strings are so scooped, that I’ve looked into an LG-2, but I already have a J-45, so I don’t know if it is redundant?

    • @mariodriessen9740

      I have a J-45 too and one of the guitars that are really high on my wish list is the LG-2, because it has such a unique voice. But don’t take my word for it. If you have the option to try one out, do it. I for one love these guitars. 😊

    I have the anthem full installed in a taylor, it is a bit low on output but using the LR Baggs EQ pedal you have a +6db switch, and it has never been a problem. Since you always and mean always need an EQ possibly with LPF and notch, it doesn't really matter if I am using a Martin with its fishman or the taylor with lr baggs, since anyway I need EQ . I suggest to BAGGS owners to get the Baggs EQ pedal, it's really worth the money having volume, plus boost +6 0 -6 db, notch control wonderfully working, eq bands, LPF on 40 80 120hz and last but not least a phase. btw thanks Aaron, as usual you bring us all the news with competence and clarity.

      The Maton Ap5 pro is definitely one of the best pickup systems out there. The problem is that you must modify the bridge of your guitar to install it, most of the people need to go to a luthier to do that, and I don't know how many of them are willing to make such modification to their expensive instrument, unless you buy a Maton guitar that already comes with it.

    I use Anthem SL, set it and forget it, I am curious how others run their volume? I typically run the volume on the pickup around 75-80%, do you recommend or run at 100% volume?

    • @jed1166
      @jed1166 Před 5 měsíci

      I use Stagepro Anthems in my RainSongs. Set them at 50-50 mic blend, with volume at 90%,(I want a little extra available, just in case the sound man has me too low for certain songs).

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Před 5 měsíci

    How would you rate this against a Fishman Matrix Infinity Mic Blend?

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The Anthem uses a crossover and the Infinity Blend does not. I did like it but I experienced more feedback than with the Anthem so I would go with that unless you know you need the TRS output on the Fishman.

    I hate undersaddles... But i like under bridge plate pickups... That's what we should be blending with a mic.... Much less invasive to the natural sound of the guitar.... Sounds a lot better. Needs less Mic signal blended in to sound Really natural. Why do people think it's a good idea to put something between your saddle and your bridge/bridge plate? It's also so much quackier, which I absolutely can't stand. I think even a bridge plate saddle pick up does pretty well.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Před měsícem +1

      In general I agree but I always get more feedback issues with the SBT style pickups. The Cole Clark and Maton systems under undersaddle style pickups and they are some of my favorites and are very stable at loud volumes.

    • @ramspencer5492
      @ramspencer5492 Před měsícem

      @@aaronshortmusic feedback thing is pretty manageable... If you end up needing a little help, SoundHaul plugs and feedback suppression circuits work well.... But usually monitor positioning is enough for most people. And if you're talking about bringing a mic in for blending, You're going to need to be proactive with feedback prevention anyway.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Před měsícem

      @@ramspencer5492 I can mitigate it but I’d rather not have to think about it. The mic is fine with a Soundhole plug. The Maton, Cole Clark and Anthem systems work best for me at this point and I have tried them all multiple times.
