I was very happy when I entered a theater last year and saw the sign posted on the front door, "Criminals beware. Lawful firearms allowed." I'd go back any day.
Every place should have those signs.

I wonder HOW MANY Liberal "Gun-Grabbers" know that the Aurora Century 16 Shooter, James Holmes checked ALL the Movie Theaters in the Metro Denver Area before he decided that the Aurora Century 16 Theater had a Sign Prohibiting Concealed Weapons inside their "Gun Free Zone" theater !!!
My rule is simply this. I conceal carry everywhere that doesn't have a metal detector. Simple as that.

I work on a military base, there are no metal detectors, no guns allowed. I doubt you would carry there...

It's simple, don't support places that don't support ccw. I had a local restaurant I frequented regularly post a sign and saw the owner at Home Depot one day. He waved and asked why I had not been in his restaurant for a while. I let him know that I would happily return once he removed his sign. A couple of days later the sign was removed.
Exactly. That's the best method. No need to be mean about it, just be matter of fact about it. I had a similar situation with a restaurant. I went back one more time and told them I wouldn't be back as long as that rule was in effect. Found several other restaurants with no signs and made some great friends there. People even open-carried in the new place. Sometimes it's Corporate Policy and the local management has no choice in the matter but it is what it is. Keep yourself safe.

He saved lives by breaking the law. He's a vigilante. Vigilantes are only heroes in comic books. The question was, was he initially in the area where the shooting began? If he was not, and he could have gotten to safety, then by law he was in the wrong.

I had my training class from an active duty police Officer on the weekend. He told me Malls are easy. In Ohio, the Mall entrances are marked no firearms, but the anchor stores are not marked. He told me always enter the Mall through one of those anchor stores. He said the list of rules of the Mall as you exit an anchor store out into the main Mall do not meet the legal requirements of notice of a gun free zone.

My active duty comes from being a hunter at 12 and I'll be 74 in February plus IM XARMY PARATROPPER VN VET. I won't go into a store with a rifle and sling but I will carry a pistol

Then again I carry in my pocket a ruger max 380 so unless I have to use it that sign means nothing to me and disregard it.

Simon Property Groups owns the mall where the shooting happened. They own many malls across the US. They all have signage that they do not allow weapons. I was an elevator and escalator County Inspector and was sent to the mall to inspect equipment that someone was extremely harmed by their equipment. When I went to walk into the mall a mall security person saw my badge but did see a weapon. I was asked if I was carrying a weapon . I said yes, concealed. They told me I could not enter. I handed a red tag to the technician and told him to shut off and red tag the equipment for me. When he returned I told the mall cop I would be sending them a notice to appear in court for a hearing for not obeying a lawful order to allow our department to perform our duties. I further advised them the equipment would be off till it was inspected by our department. I went to my vehicle and filled out some paperwork. Within minutes mall management spoke with me and then allowed me to enter with my weapon and perform inspections without having any further legal action against them. I stood up to their foolish desires. They didn't have armed security that could protect me and therefore I was not going in defenseless. I was not allowing them to take my right of self defense away if they couldn't defend me.
Exactly, IF you explain that if I can't be armed You (business) are 100% liable for my injuries.
Had an active-shooter situation not occurred, no one in the mall would have ever known he had a firearm on him.
While some media personalities did attempt to label Eli Dicken as being outside the law while ignoring the the fact that the active shooter was the one in the mall with the intent to inflict death and great bodily harm, that perspective was very quickly shut down. Anyone with a grain of common sense rejects blaming the person who ended the threat while excusing the actual threat. It's difficult to believe that anyone actually perpetrated that perspective to begin with.
The lamestream media were on that like a pack of starving dogs then the police slammed them calling that young man a hero .... they closed that door and went back to the Mar a Lago cycle .... can't have a good guy taking out a criminal with any positive coverage.... just sad

In my state, if the sign doesn't exactly meet the specifications set forth, the sign isn't valid. You can still be asked to leave by the owner.
I watched his lawyer interviewed and he msde a couple significant statements:
1. He did have a permit to carry
2. He had extensive experience with firearms

Though you don't need a permit to carry in several states now, when stopped, letting the officer know you have one and are carrying, that tells them your background has been checked for criminal activity and any checks done on you to obtain that permit means you have passed and are likely an upstanding citizen and have probably have been to a training class in many of those carry states. The cops are less apt to go ape s_ _ t on you at a stop.
Constitutional Carry isn't as simple, cut and dry as you may think. I don't know about other states but in Texas, the laws are different for constitutional vs. licensed carry.
Even if you don't want or think you need the license, do yourself a favor and take the Class. Learn the difference in who and how the laws apply to different people.
The bottom line is the man who stopped the aggression, didn’t take his gun to the mall looking for a gun fight. The aggressor however did, fortunately the other man was there to put the situation in check. No charges should be filed.
I adopted the Clinton Era "don't ask, don't tell" policy for carry.
A friend asked me one night in a place firearms are forbidden, "are you carrying?"
"You know I am."
"Thank God! I was afraid folks had taken that order seriously. "

Not sure when this was recorded, but days ago they said His response time was 15 seconds not 2 minutes. And the fact that he put 8 out of 10 shots on target (80%) under stress... he has been to the range ALOT if not a competition shooter.

I actually have a bowel disease and had to wear a colostomy bag for about four months. Surgery fixed that problem, but gave me the perfect cover. I have extra supplies that I can put in my pocket to support a demonstration. LMAO

Here in my state it’s the law. It has to be predominantly displayed at every public ingress. There was actually a case where a restaurant had it on the hostess podium instead of the door and the gun owner sued them for calling the cops and getting them arrested. The case hinged completely on the improper display, he won a huge civil lawsuit against the owner who called the cops and put the sign up as well as got the charges dismissed.
The guy was open carrying and walked right in the front door, owner saw it, pointed to the sign and asked them to leave. I guess the issue for the owner was he disarmed and returned- their lawyer argued that it was the proprietors negligence in hanging the sign combined with punitive motives for calling the police. He was sitting at the table apparently with his friends and family unarmed when the cops showed up and unfortunately admitted he walked in with a gun on his hip.
Also- the cops in this suburb will absolutely BURN rubber to catch a burglary suspect but when it comes to things like armed home invasions- you’re lookin at 12 min minimum.

As far as I'm concerned, you don't lose your constitutional rights just because some store or restaurant wishes it to be so.
I have been carrying concealed for almost 20 years now. I go anywhere I need to go except the obvious places forbidden, Courthouse, Police/Sheriffs office, Schools, Jailhouse, Air Port, Large Sporting events etc. But private businesses that post gun free zones are not enforceable in Florida so I ignore them if I see them. The only caveat is, although it has never happened to me, if somehow I was ever detected and asked to leave I would leave. Story over. And the next time I decided to go into that place again I would go in, armed as usual. I'm not going to judge the people that post such signs, but that doesn't mean I have to obey their decision to feel the way they do. And if I like the place, i will continue to go there. On my terms only...
Schools?! That’s one of the most important places to have one. People target schools more often than any other place.
Come on, I’ve had guns since I was a teen( not counting my .22 I got at 11). I carried a revolver in my pickup when I was 18 and I never had any problems. I’m 66 now.

Same. I was shooting with my grandpa since I was seven years old. We would go to the range, we would go out and hunt deer and chuckers... And if nobody shot anything during the day the adults drank beer and then shot up the beer cans. See, there's always something fun to do with a gun 😁

Most laws say it must be conspicuously displayed. If it isn’t put in a location that I don’t have to search for it then I’m not sure they can enforce it. And even if they do, IF they ever find out I’m carrying, would be to ask me to leave. However the likelihood of them ever finding out would be remote. UNLESS I have to draw it to protect myself or those with/around me. Short answer, I ignore these signs. Carry on!
I recently visited an attraction in Las Vegas with my wife. I noticed "no firearms allowed" signs upon entry, but there were no metal detectors or anything like that. However, at the entrance to the main ride area from the lobby, a security person told my wife that she needed to check her purse, which was a tiny, flat purse barely big enough to hold an iPhone. More like a wallet with a strap. It was so silly that the lady apologized for having to check it. But, and I'm not saying whether I was carrying or not, but if I were I would have easily walked right in with no problem whatsoever. These places with these signs/policies are just ridiculous.
I would have stop that, that is an illegal search. Security whatever you like to call them don't have legal authority to carry out a search, or to detain you, specially without probable cause. if they suspect or have probable cause that you committed a crime they must contact a law enforcement agency with the authority to enforce the law! You can just turn around and walk away from the place property boundaries, case solved, don't allow this crap folks, learn the law it is wise.

Keep in mind that, under Nevada law, carrying there is breaking the law. Laws aren't pick and choose.
Under which Nevada law? I've checked several CCW related sites and all say that "no guns allowed" signs on private property have no legal force.

When it comes to those NO Firearms signs, I look at the reason I'm there. If it's a commercial business, I will usually go get back in my car and go somewhere else. If my gun isn't welcome, I'm not welcome. You could also leave the gun in your vehicle. If anything happens to you in this 'No Firearms Allowed' business, you should be able to sue the business for failing to protect you and not allowing you the option of protecting yourself. If they want to post a sign like that, Make Them Liable and Responsible for your safety. Of course you can't carry in Government buildings or Schools. Bottom Line, I say follow the rules and go in without the firearm if you HAVE no other choice(In North Carolina and You are a CCW holder, You can lose your carry permit if you're caught carrying in a place with a No Firearms Allowed Sign Posted.). But If you have a choice, go somewhere else. Take your gun and your money elsewhere. That's my 2 Cents.

For courthouses, of course I leave it in the car. For post offices, concealed, as well as when I was attending community college, carrying my G17 with five magazines, wearing shorts and flip-flops.
Loved the show, a month ago I was in a restaurant named Frickers here in Indiana. My friend and I were leaving, we stopped to talk, and I noticed that a sign was displayed making carrying a weapon was prohibited, it actually said it was “ illegal!” As I continue to read the sign, I notice the reference to a State Statute that backed the claim that the it was illegal. I laugh as I continued to read it, the statute noted was an Ohio state statute. If you remember, in the beginning, I told you I was in Indiana. Unless I’m wrong, Ohio state statutes have no standing in Indiana. I have a picture of the sign if you would like to see it! I was armed of course! 😊
As a Hoosier, most people I know here are glad that he had his firearm on him. I also know that most people in Indiana who are family members expect their carrying members to carry their firearms into these establishments. As someone who has a lifetime license since before Indiana went to Constitional Carry I have an Attorney already lined up to represent me in any legal carry issues in the event I have to use my firearm. Most of Indiana's Sherrifs support citizens carrying concealed. Indiana has become the Northern example of the firearms equivalent of Texas.

In my state the sign on the door is a company’s private policy and not enforced by law. If for some reason they find out I’m carrying in a business with one of those signs, they can tell me to leave. That’s it. I have to leave, or I’m trespassing, but I don’t risk being arrested for exercising my constitutional right with my CCW anywhere that’s not a government building or school. I don’t even look for those signs, they don’t mean anything to criminals so they don’t mean anything to me.
I 100% respect the sign. If the business is anti-2A I don’t want to give them my business anyway. I thank them for letting me know.
It isn't always being anti 2A. I have never worked at a company that allowed employees or customers to be armed. If they don't welcome your gun don't bring it. They don't want you there with it. If you have a problem with that, have your problem and your gun somewhere else.
@@againstit224 that’s something I’ve noticed a lot of these to Waze supporters try and make it black-and-white. Plenty of businesses won’t allow employees to carry guns while they’re working first of all because it’s unsafe but it’s just plain old stupid that’s another thing to all the people in the comment section saying that they would just ignore the sign you’re breaking the law, if you see a building that has a no firearms sign on it you don’t go or you leave your gun in the car you don’t just go inside and break the rule which is what a lot of people plan on doing that’s wrong and it’s in consider of you to go into a random business. That explicitly says no firearms with a firearm.
I saw such a sign on the door of a psychiatrist's office. I told the good doctor that in his line of business, if he wasn't carrying he was crazier than his patients.
I have a question? I am a trained veteran (and Vietnam Combat Vet). I also am a former deputy sheriff. The question is...I have concealed carry since I was 24, and now I am 71. I am treated at VA Hospital with signs saying, "No Weapons...guns, knives, etc." On a few occasions, because I carry it daily, I just remembered that I had to take my pistol out of my holster but forgot. What would the problem be if they caught me? It's a Federal Hospital. If it's a store, another hospital, or another place of business, I ignore the sign and carry. I was told we would be told to leave and that if I didn't, we'd suffer the consequences. But with the Federal VA hospital, it may be different. I was never trained when I was a deputy about the Federal consequences. So...just curious. Forgot to mention I also passed the tactical handgun courses, ie; FBI, Border Patrol, the old Air Marshal course, and many others.
Those signs are just a rule I don't care if it was a law or not I'm going to carry my weapon everywhere I go to protect myself I'll deal with the consequences remember guys I rather be judged by 12 you know the saying
It depends on the state whether those signs are law. In florida the statute says where you can't go and signs don't mean anything. If you get asked to leave a business for any reason and you don't you are trespassing.

15 seconds is a long time. I doubt he waited that long before responding. Maybe 15 seconds before it was over....
Love that I live in Kentucky, signs carry no weight of law except school, post office and federal justice buildings or court rooms. When I took my ccdwp my instructor told me that private business has a right to post no guns but they carry no weight of law and if you are caught carrying, then you must be asked to leave before you can be charged. He also said tho that if you get a good holster then they won't see it, so pay the money and conceal it well.
A little late to the party but, the mall nearest me took the “no gun /weapons sign to another level. They have PD patrolling the inside of the mall with a gun sniffing dog. Though I’ve never seen them actually in the mall , the sign and picture of the dog is posted at each entrance. And I will continue to carry in that mall ( I’m not there a lot) when ever I am. And like you said, willing to accept the consequences. Consequences being asked to leave the mall. Thanks

When I was a young professional bondsman in 1980 I stopped in a Cleveland ohio precinct to advise them that I was their to apprehend a bail jump. The cop at the counter was wearing a white shirt ,was. He dove over the counter screaming give me your gun! He grabbed my partner's colostomy bag! The bag blew up all over the cop! Shit everywhere. Head to toe! True story!
He fired 10 rounds at 40 yards. 8 rounds on target. His grandfather was his trainer .

We, as a group that worked together, used to frequent a bar/eating establishment. We would have work luncheons there when we had an individual leaving, etc, etc. They put up a no Firearms Sign on the doors, we asked the manager about it and he said that was the owners wishes. WE STOP GOING THERE. We are all retired military, in a military town, that worked on a military contract. They didn't last much longer after the word got around that they didn't support the 2nd Amendment. SEE YA, WOULDN'T WANNA BE YA! However, I never remove my concealed carry if the sign is on the door, but I never go back there if I can help it!
His grandfather trained him so I have a suspicion that grandfather has Milatry background because the young man made the shot at 40 yards with 8 out of 10 hitting the POS.
My Grandfather and a few other very good marksmen taught me to shoot starting at age 6 and later I got formal law enforcement training. But I would still have been trying to get in for a closer shot had I been there. My hat's off to Mr. Dicken on his shooting ability.
In the state of Indiana there's no law saying you cannot carry in a gun free zone however if the proprietor of the establishment somehow finds out you're carrying they can ask you to leave
California has a Bill in the hopper that expands "Sensitive Areas" Part of the law will stipulate that Concealed Carry will be prohibited in any business unless the owner posts a sign allowing firearms on said premises. Obviously an answer to the SCOTUS decision. Im sure it it wont stand up to scrutiny, but that has not stopped Calif from implementing knee jerk laws in the past.

The idea of concealed and open carry shouldn't matter when it comes to the 2A. If someone in 1791 walked into a bar during the day with their pistol exposed at their hip, then left the bar at night, put on a coat and bottoned it up, would that have made it concealed carry? Would they have had to get a concealed carry license or permit in 1791 or anytime like the SCOTUS gave for Bruen?

I was an FFL for years and also worked at four gun shops back in the 80s as a second job. I never spend any money in anyplace that doesn't allow firearms. I might use the restroom but that's about it, most of the time I refuse to even enter. If they have a 1-800 number I call and tell them so. We live within 8 miles of the Greenwood mall and at the time of the shooting I was at Costco less than two miles away getting gas. As for the Greenwood Police and Johnson Co. Sheriff over the last 40 years they have been Johnny on the spot and Greenwood has always been very fast. The mall cops at Greenwood mall do not carry firearms and are totally untrained, they struggled to deal with a mad drunk in the parking lot. We don't use the mall at all but do use some of the restaurants that you can enter from outside the mall. I only have two friends that don't carry and a very large portion of the people in Indiana carry.
In my state we disregard the signs we do not have to listen to them if they've noticed that we are carrying they can ask us to leave? and we'll leave, so we don't get a trespassing charge but we carry everywhere except for City and federal buildings 111%.

I have an Attorney friend who is the Attorney for the State Rifle Association. He sent Registered Letters to Businesses informing them since they have decided to deny Patrons afforded the Protection by the States Concealed Carry Law on Property Open to anyone, that they have now taken upon themselves to protect their Patrons in lieu of the intent of State Law and he will, should the need occur to represent any such party in need of seeking reparations should the get hurt during the commission of an unlawful act on their Property. The No Carry Signs were removed.

I wish you had covered the fact that in some states (e.g., TX), the no guns sign has the effect of law, where in other states it does not have legal ramification (e.g, CO). In those other states, if you are asked to leave, you say "I'm leaving right now" and you leave right away you can't be charged with criminal trespass.
Me personally I have never ever been a gun-free zone. As soon as I show up it's no longer a gun-free zone 💯😎

I have the Ruger 380 max and I love it . Say what you want about 380 but it is spot on . It is my summer time conceal carry firearm. Yes it is grate to have the Glock in the winter time . But when it’s 95 degrees out with the humidity almost the same . You dress light . And this is one of the best for conceal carry whether you’re out and about or you have to run out at night to your truck to get something just stick it in your pocket . Now it came with a kind of cheep holster but I bought a better pocket holster .
In Texas the signs are VERY specific, 30.05 is a notice for trespassing if you are carrying without permit, 30.06 is a notice for trespass if you are carrying concealed, 30.07 is a notice of trespass if you are carrying open carry. Any other type of sign like the gun with the no go symbol on it, etc. are null. The signs have to have the code entirely visible with 1in letter in English and Spanish. Technically, if they fail to have the sign complete, it can be argued that it is null. If they have an incomplete or no sign, then walk on itn. I tend to not frequent places with the sign.
@E G I think that is the point. If concealed properly, no one will know. I follow the law. In Texas, no properly posted 30.06 sign, properly conceal. Even if there is not a properly posted sign, which makes me legal, if asked by the mall security personnel to leave because they have a no weapons policy, then I would leave. Those of us who follow the law must also make our stance that in the event that we or a family member is injured in one of these establishments that does not allow us to conceal and carry, we should file suit against the business for not allowing us to protect ourselves and others from the bad guy who ignored all signage and laws. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Yep I just got pass the bathroom discussion where they ask how nobody noticed he had been in the bathroom for an hour. Duh, it’s a mall with serval people. Who sits around and times a stranger in the bathroom? People we constantly going in and out, moving about the mall. Nobody would’ve thought anything of it.
Most places here in Texas where I live (near Midland) the signs are against Open Carrying, in an Open Carry state... I occasionally come across signs about being licensed to carry. Heck, even the liquor store doesn't have a 50% sign, and when I went inside and talked to the clerks they said they WANT people coming into their store carrying (preferably concealed). About the only places my 86 yr old mom and I don't carry is hospitals, government buildings (Post Office, Court House, etc.) and we both have Concealed Carry permits.
The Texas situation is strange because Texas did not clean up the other laws when they passed constitutional carry. So there is one sign that prevents illegal carry, one that prevents unlicensed carry, and one that keeps out all concealed carry. In other words, there are places a permit holder can go that a constitutional carrier cannot.

In Indiana there are places the law says we cannot carry but a shopping mall is not one of them and a sign has no force of the law in other words a sign does not make it illegal here.

Yes, the main places you can’t carry in Indiana are government buildings, schools, and hospitals. Anyone else who posts a sign, that is the discretion of that particular store/mall. If you are conceal/carry, they shouldn’t even be able to see it, or know it’s even there. If it’s accidentally seen in your holster, most people won’t even say anything other than a mall cop, which can only tell you to leave, a panicked Karen, an anti-gun activist, or a curious kid. You’re not the one who will cause the problem in 99% of the cases, it’s the potential idiots around you. They may have made CC legal in Indiana, but I still carry my card with me to avoid problems.

I apendix carry and have for over 20 years and ive gonq several times into places where guns are not allowed and no one knows Im armed.
Been carrying 100% of the time for over 30 years. Government offices were you must pass through metal detectors are pretty much the only times I remove it. If you’re doing it right you’re the only person that knows where your weapon is. At work we go eat at fast food places and make bets on who’s carrying and where it is. First give away the Glock hat or shirt the bumper stickers all over your your truck gun or 2A related. The tactical clothing and duty boots. But easiest way is the bulge of the huge double stack in Uncle Mikes flimsy holster.
The worst thing they can do is trespassed you until you you can't come back and ask you to leave always ignore a no-gun sign unless it's in a government building
People on The view brought it up, they stated that he broke the law. He saved who knows how many people, but the view. That bastion of freedom said that he broke the law by doing that. I would assume that all the host on the view have armed protection. So they don't need to carry a weapon, but I have to protect myself

That sign was from before the constitutional carry law took place. Here in Texas New signage requirements came about after constitutional carry became law
I’ve never actually seen a “no gun” sign. They must not put the signs on the door handle....that’s where I always look. 🤷♂️ Lucky me, as in Indiana, here in Alabama that sign don’t mean a daggum thing!!
The only time I don’t carry is when I am working as a substitute teacher.
While I am working I carry a walking cane and I am trained to use it.
When CCL first came to Texas, one local mall put up "No guns" signs at each entrance. Except one. Can't imagine which one I used to go in and out... "There was no sign!"

Here in Alabama, "no guns" signs do not carry the weight of law. If you are "caught" carrying, the business can only ask you to leave. At that point, if you don't leave things can get sticky.

No guns signs have no legal weight in Indiana, unless it's a building covered by state law (government building etc.) Malls always have these signs. If you are asked to leave and do not, then it becomes a legal issue, but as was stated in the video, concealed means concealed. Great show guys, thank you

The mall i used to shop at had no firearms allowed signs but were only 3”x4” in size and located at the very bottom right of the glass n not on the door and of course i was concealing and the rent a cop stopped me saying there’s no firearms allowed yet he didn’t know i was carrying even when my shirt was an large where there was no printing of my conceal carry gun, i went back a few weeks later and the signs were taken down
Except for drinking establishments and banks, ignore the soft target sign. In fact, make sure your heat is ready.
Maybe in your state but in Arizona if you have a CWP you are able to carry in a bar as long as it’s concealed and in every state I’ve always carried in a bank or post office concealed…

Carrying a pistol anywhere, including private businesses that prohibit it carries the weight of the law in my state which is a felony. So if you get caught you're gonna lose your gun rights for the rest of your life. I wish they would change that law and just make it so the owner can tell you to leave and then if you don't leave you can get in trouble. CVS pharmacy is an example. When they changed their gun policy in their stores I switched to Walgreens.

@@jmillerMAGA I don't think Home Depot prohibits " concealed " carry like CVS does. I think they probably just prohibit " open " carry. EDIT - Actually I just did a web search and Home Depot says they just go by whatever the local laws are. If open carry is legal then you can open carry in their stores.

This really is the best course of action. If caught you can simply play the ‘oh golly gee I didn’t see it, im sorry’ card and then leave.

The idea that a guy with 8 weeks self supervision training is more experienced than someone who has been shooting for 50 years is just a false belief. Each person has individual skills and experience and you never know what if they will freeze under stress. You will never know until it happens to you and it has happened to me and under many circumstances I have reactions that were different. I was horrified at an MVA once and I froze for a minute or so after seeing a victim impaled by a sign post. Yet in an active assault I pinned a violent assailant down in my living room without hesitation of a second.
It is really frustrating when the "experts" get their facts wrong, if you're going to do a show on something, get your facts straight first or at least to the best of your ability.
