I recently had a 80+ year old woman behind me in line at a pharmacy. She was admiring my 3 year old daughters good behavior and our interaction. She then said "Son, I thought that was a phone, but it's a gun isn't it! Is it loaded?" "Yes ma'am" She nodded and smiled "Well I think that's good, you take care of that child".

The weirdest thing about gun free zones is the only people you're disarming are people who are actually willing to acknowledge and respect it. And those aren't the people you really need to worry about. You're basically targeting accidents and mishaps at that point, not violence.

I have made it a point to open carry regularly when I am out shopping with my family. Not to swagger around, not to flaunt my rights, not to preach, or to show off. I do it to advocate responsible gun ownership. I am ever conscious to be polite and helpful to anyone I have contact with, and by doing so, I make an impression on people that gun owners are NOT obnoxious, loud, aggressive people. I believe if a person comes into your store with a firearm in a holster like the both of you have. If he or she keeps it in the holster & intends on not selling it. Their firearm should be allowed to stay loaded as long as it remains holstered & not for sale. Is it your business to make them unload their firearm if there is no intention of selling the firearm? I personally hate when gun owners show & tell their guns in public places. Meaning out of holster passing it around. I open carry myself. It does not come out of the holster unless I am needing to use it for defensive purposes. This was my only gripe I have about your policy.

I have always wondered who would be so incoherently stupid to actually come up with the ORIGINAL CONCEPT of a "Gun free zone"
Did they sincerely believe that the "gun free zone" sign itself possessed sentient intelligence and would lunge off the wall and attack an aggressor who stepped over an arbitrary line and entered a "Gun free zone" while packing a firearm?!
In the most literal sense, Laws CANNOT enforce laws. Law is a notion created within human minds to establish order (don't kill, don't steal) within a society. Thus, thats why police are called "law ENFORCEMENT". There is no point to any law if there is no physical force to deliver negative consequences to the criminals who break the law. *HERP-DERP* -_-
Obviously, everything i've said is a massive "no duh" and "no shit sherlock" but sadly many on the left can't seem to understand this.

I went to one of those little dollar stores not too long ago and saw a gun free zone sign and asked the clerk "what does that mean?" And she said "it means you're not allowed to have a gun here" and then I replied "does that include criminals?" And she looked at me like I was stupid and said "of course". I then looked at her and said "and what makes you think a criminal will follow that rule?" And she had no answer. I then said "what that sign really says is 'hey come rob this place because you don't have to worry about anyone possibly fighting back'"
I still wonder to this day whether I was able to reach that woman or not.

I really disagree with this video. If you are on private property, you should respect the wishes of the owner's land on which you are stepping onto. If his wish is for there not to be any firearms on his property, then you respect his wishes, or if you dont like it, go somewhere else and take your business along with you. Your right to bear arms stops right when it infringes on the rights of private property.

The protac is small enough I can fit it in my pocket and conceal it. I cant carry a firearm because I'm under 18, so I got that for self defense, its not as effective but it will have to do. Combined with my knife I should be able to protect myself. 3. I can carry it at school. I'm starting to gain enemies and if they try to corner or hurt me I will strobe em and if necessary pop em in the head (its made of aircraft aluminum). And I aint gunna wait for the rent a cops or a teacher to save me, its my life, its my responsibility.

In the state of Indiana our Governor passed a bill allowing CCL holders to be able to have their firearms in their vehicles when at their place of employment. A lot of business were not allowing people to even have their guns in their car. The law passed basically stated that every citizen should be allowed to protect themselves to and from work. now most places of employment won't allow you to carry inside while at work but the law passed by our Governor is a step in the right direction. Mike Pence is a man that is willing to be on the side of the less popular vote. Our firearm laws are pretty loose compared to most states so honestly, besides Indiana winters, I am very glad to be a Hoosier. we need more guys like Mr. Pence in the Fed Government.

I am a college student here in West Texas, and there is a no firearm policy on school grounds (okay, with the school shootings, I get that). So for my first two semesters I didn't bring anything with me.
then comes third semester and I'm in my first day of class for BCIS, and the professor is giving the usual first day speech about orientation and dropping classes, etc., But then she says something that no other professor I've had in the past has said before.
She said that in the event of a school shooter/shooting, we are to close the door and go hide and hide in the corner of the same wall the door is (like hiding behind where the door would meet the wall when completely opened, but further back into the corner of that wall).
I didn't say anything, bit the first thought in my mind was "fck THAT. If there's a school shooter roaming the halls and opening doors and firing at anything with a face, I am NOT gonna just grovel and hide in the corner with a bunch of scared, crying, pissy kids (I have tons of kids around me, me being an "older" student) and an old lady."
Now, I have 9 years in the military where I was enlisted as an M1 Abrams tanker and deployed 4 times to some of the nastiest places in Iraq, and being a tanker means I/we also get to carry and train with a pistol/M9 Beretta, which is nice bc aside from us, the only other enlisted soldiers who carry a sidearm are MP's, and officers who are aviation. Not even scouts or infantry carry a sidearm... And idk why) so I've had lots of handgun training, and even though I've been a civilian for 9 years now (got out in 2012) I still shoot and train and still have the mentality of defending the people around me and myself and most of all, survival.
That being said, I'm no badass and I don't think of myself as or want to be "the hero", but dammit, I'll be damned if I'm gonna just hide in a corner and let someone mow me and the others down, especially since I have the experience from the army and live in a place where guns and the carry of them are allowed!
So since then I've had my loaded Glock 17, one 18 round mag in, and a 33/34 round mag on standby in an easily accessible place in my backpack, and if I were to hear shots out in the hallway, I'm gonna be waiting right around the corner of that door with it drawn, and of someone with a weapon who's not in uniform walks in... Someone's getting an after school special. I don't think going out into the halls and hunting the person down would be something I'd do though because say if the armed security or police/swat team enter the building and they see me, who is not in uniform and is roaming the halls with a pistol after hearing there's a school shooter... they don't know I'm not the threat, and I may not get the time to declare myself a friendly, and who's to say they'll believe it. Gotta think of these things.
Thankfully we don't have metal detectors (which can also be a curse), but I believe that staff and students should be allowed to carry and have the right to be ready to defend themselves and the others in such an event. "No firearm on campus" is trick or treating for some twisted mass murderer; hell, it's an invite! Idk how much trouble I would get in if I were to have to do something like that (after the fact), but I'd rather jump off that bridge when I get to it rather than be a victim, or a dead victim at that.
On a side note, there is a tiny little town here that me and the lady have gone to a couple times on the weekend, and there is a grade school there that has a sign that says that all staff members are armed and are legally allowed to defend themselves and their students. _THAT_ should be the case for EVERY school in Texas!

I can't speak for anyone but where i live in Virginia, when it comes to schools, there is a provision in the law that says a person with a valid concealed permit may possess a firearm on them in their car in any ingress, egress, parking lot, or traffic circle of the school as long as they stay in the car. If you get out, that's a different story. Then you have to unload it, put it in a container, lock it and put it in the truck, or in my case the backseat since I drive a truck.
