- What would you say if your friend suggested that you run 93 miles around the base of the US's largest active volcano in 3 days?
The Wonderland Trail at Mount Rainer National Park is known for its stunning beauty, with breathtaking views of the mountain from every angle, and it's considered a must-see among hikers, backpackers and trail runners! People have come seeking adventure and communion with nature since long before the trail was formally established in 1915, and when Alan's friend Devin suggested they run the Wonderland Trail, he leapt at the idea! After training all summer and getting some pointers from legendary mountain runner Scott Jurek, Alan and his friend set off to find adventure on the iconic 93-mile Mt. Rainier circumnavigation-and we joined them for the ride!

We would like to acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who have lived on and cared for Tahoma and the surrounding land-now administered as Mount Rainier National Park and the Wonderland Trail. This land has been the ancestral homeland of the Cowlitz, Muckleshoot, Nisqually, Puyallup, Squaxin Island, Yakama and Coast Salish people for thousands of years. We recognize and honor their enduring spiritual and cultural connections to this place. Learn more about recreating on native land: www.rei.com/blog/stewardship/...

cameraman is the real hero here
Last summer I climbed Rainier and a few days later completed Wonderland in 70 hours, unsupported. Beautiful place for sure
We need more of these videos Alan! Love it !
Love to hear your “lessons learned and gear discussion” what worked what you would change…great content 🤙🏽
We're so glad to know it. Thanks for the kudos!
Who is the camera person who ran and filmed the whole way??
HAHA I need to know this too!! They are one tough cookie - carrying equipment and keeping up?? We need a second video just on them
It was Braden Van Dragt, an in-house video producer for REI that accompanied these two, acting as the videographer and documentarian. 💪 Read more about our team's adventure here: bit.ly/3VRHVEc
Great job. Certainly a bucket list run for me.
Runners paradise
I’m preparing to potentially hike this trail this year, couldn’t imagine running it! Badass
You're going to love it!😃
This was such a wonderful and eye-opening video for me! I so appreciate Alan’s insight and outlook! I’m just starting to train on the trail and this is so beautiful and inspiring!😮
Thank you Kenny!
"Bees are great I love them OW OW OW"
Epic! Alan you are most definitely an ATHLETE! Thank you for sharing your philosophy and your genuine gratitude for everything you experience.
I backpacked part of the Wonderland last August (the Northern Loop Trail) and it was my favorite hiking experience of my life so far... Seeing these athletes RUN the trail is very humbling! P.S. I love Alan's attitude so much.
Thanks for the love! The Wonderland Trail is beautiful but not without its challenges. We're so happy to know that you had your own experience backpacking it last year! 🙌 Maybe you'll be back to hike another segment soon?! 🤞🤞🤞
How long did you do the loop in?
@@hdanna823 4 days, 3 nights... about 9 miles per day. Saw 4 bears!
Day 1 -- Sunrise Visitor Center to Fire Creek
Day 2 -- Fire Creek to Yellowstone Cliffs
Day 3 -- Yellowstone Cliffs to Mystic Lake
Day 4 -- Mystic Lake to Sunrise Visitor Center
love the stoke and the positive attitudes. Very inspiring and fun to watch. Never seen you guys before, but I like the content a lot.
What a fantastic adventure and accomplishment! What Alan says about pushing yourself is absolutely true - we are capable of so much.
What amazing views!! and the spread of all the food when they arrived at camp 😂 wow! lucky to have a crew and the right gear to do such an impressive trip ha!
Our crew's support was definitely appreciated! 😊
Yoooo no way. What a sick experience. And the gear!? I can’t wait to start running again.
Great time to get back out there, Nick! Want to check out the gear we used? You can find it here: www.rei.com/blog/run/gear-check-running-the-wonderland-trail
This is sooo awesome!! What a great trail and a great video. Nice work.
I wish there were trails like this on the East Coast!!
The Wonderland Trail lives up to its reputation! 🙌 We're so happy you enjoyed watching this adventure.
Awesome Video!
Hoping to backpack it this summer

We love making them. 😄 Thanks, Israel!
Awesome video! Luv this💯
Thank you for watching!
Great video!
Love the energy
That's what some good outdoors time will do to ya! 😉👍
What time of the year you did this route ? Thanks great video
I’d also like to know! Revisited this video to see if I’d missed that
Hey Jose, Nick! Ortega and Arnold took on the Wonderland Trail this past September. Read more about it here: bit.ly/3VRHVEc
I'm doing this trail in june but not gonna run it lol. Might jog a bit from time to time. But i think it's still doable in 3 days...will probably pack enough food for 4 just in case.
How did you run down the ipsut pass? I tripped multiple times just hiking LOL
Like the video and appreciate you guys. However, I'm not sure I could spend 3 days trail running knowing other people were carrying my camp for me. If I want to spend those days on trail, I bring my backpack and carry my own weight.
Glad you had fun though.
Props to the camera person 😂
What a great adventure! What watch do you use?
Hey Tyra! Alan is wearing the Garmin Forerunner 955. Check it out here: bit.ly/3vIkylW
9:45 Come on REI. You guys are from the PNW. It's Ipsut Pass, not Isput 😂
The camera man is Scott jurek right?
Not quite! 😉 The cameraperson is REI video producer and fellow running enthusiast Braden!
Can you wild camp in wonderland ?
What model Solomon vest is this?
Great question! It's the Salomon Adv Skin 12 Set Hydration Vest. For the rest of their gear, you can find a gear list here: www.rei.com/blog/run/gear-check-running-the-wonderland-trail
