Stunningly done. I wanted to get just a preview before bed and I couldn't turn it off before thee end. Awesome shots and editing. The music was seamlessly scored along the way. Many wise words throughout as well. Nature is neat :)
Thats why they call it NEATURE! ;)
Keith Koch truly well said
its 135 am , I had the same problem. great documentary.
Keith Koch Yes, me too... but I realize I OWE it to these guys and gals to watching till the end!!
Nature is unspeakably and utterly Profound.
I started hiking because of the pandemic. This, this right here, this is my new goal before hitting 40. Turning 31 next week
@kirwi kirwinson preach it
Age is just a number brother ;)
Dude I’m hiking the PCT right now, entire pandemic I’ve been out here... I’m also 31. And for those who commented on hiking in 2021, I hope they can find a way with the PCTA not issuing any permits as of now for the 2021 season.
Steve Whalley Wait blacks don’t have interests or wanderlust? I agree with you that it’s not always about the money, people plan these hikes for a long time. But this comment is just misguided at best and hurtful.
@èý awakening Hooooly shit that's racist.
"The pace of normal life begins to seem absurd". That pretty much sum's it up.
Truer words have never been said. It's wha drives us to the wilderness, right?
@@alexdtucker Yes it is!!! The forest and the mountain's are the only place's that make sense to me.
@@rkf2746 And the Ocean for me.
@@ninocarrico3597 Ever Beach stealth camped ? I've done it all my life . Hike into secluded beaches. Sleeping next to the waves is a different experience.
@@esc8722 Never camped, but spent plenty of nights in the beach. One day I will though! There is something about the ocean...
I'm Japanese. I watched your video as a beginner in mountain climbing. I don't understand English because I use a translator. I can't even read comments. I want to tell you. Thank you for the best view. I think mountain climbing is the best sport to connect with people all over the world.
"I'm coming to understand what it means to travel at the speed of a human being..." That's the exact reason hiking drew me in, tumbling around in a world only speeding up you really begin to appreciate the moments when you can only go as fast as your own two legs can take You! Step after step, it's a hypnotic rhythm no human being can't help but love.
This is the shit I dream about sitting in my desk at work, the great outdoors, what a kick ass journey.
same here!
Joe Sherer - so, what's stopping you?
Laurence Whymark young children who need their mama around.
Laurence, I plan on going one day, when my kids get a little older. My wife finishes up her education. Again enjoyed the video.
Joe Sherer - good on you, dude! Make sure you make it happen! :)
"The pace of normal life begins to feel absurd..." Fantastic words.
I have never in my life commented on a CZcams video. That was incredibly moving and amazingly beautiful. Thank you for bringing us with you.
Exactly my thoughts.
Good to see your post!!
Try yang, does JMT. Its way emotional only 210 miles? Be free love 💘!
god speed friend
I’m the only one that struggled the the monotone narration apparently
I’m with you.
My dad took me hiking when I was a kid. The feeling being out there is unparalleled. You don’t have to be old to know that being in the Forrest is where everyone was meant to be.
My family was poor, but we'd still go on vacations every year. A lot of our vacations involved hiking and going to museums since it was always free. We always enjoyed it and looking back, I'm grateful!
Forest my dad's name was Forrest and yes remember this " the neanderthals hiked without anything" if they did it so can you 😊
Wow, this was awesome. I have a medical condition which may leave me permanently disabled within a few short years. I’m planning the rest of my life right now, I thought about doing this hike, but this doc really sold it for me. Bless the people who made this vid, great stuff. Thank you so much.
Best wishes for you . Go for it , enjoy the everyday as much as possible 💪❤️
i hope u are better now
i work on the stock market - i'm 23 - i work 60 hours a week. i'm gonna hoard all my money and quit in the next 2 years. plan to do the AT which is closer to my home. thanks for this! inspiration to keep going
I’m planning my AT thru hike for March 2021, maybe we’ll meet on the trails?
I’ll be taking on the AT next year as well. I’ll be running it in an attempt to see how fast I can accomplish this amazing task. I’ve been training for almost a year straight and just visited Shenandoah this past weekend. Can’t wait!!
Recommend doing the PCT first. The AT is pretty difficult for most newbies. If you want to do a shakedown of your gear and your capabilities I would highly recommend the Tahoe Rim trail.
@@jabinjoseph163 Did you do it?
Hope you did it 😁
Hiking is life. As soon as I smell the trees and hear the whip birds on my local trails, I instantly feel at ease.
I've watched this documentary for years. In my 40's now and I have two young sons - 4.5 years and 5 months. Someday, I hope to live this dream. Despite the madness in this world, I hope to teach them the basics of life and share a wonderful memory on this trail to relive what I grew up with in Central Oregon. Much love and God Bless.
Just wanted to thank you for putting this film together. Takes a lot to make me tearful but watching you guys at the end brought a tear to my eye. I have a disability in my leg which means I would never be able to walk the PCT but I did grin when you went past Lake Tahoe as I swam that solo (all 21 miles) in 2018. Incredible scenery - well done indeed.
Damn people are .... uhm .. adventourus .. gritty .. warm ..
May be you can do parts of it..... (Laura, from Argentina)
“There is…no epiphany, no feeling of bliss. Those moments rested in the life of the journey, not in its ending.”
Bravo for a story well told. Thank you for sharing your journey.
This guy puts me to sleep. Thank You. I needed a good nap.
You'll look back on this adventure 40 years from now and be so happy for all the memories , trials , and tribulations you experienced . Thanks for taking us along for the hike.
Sure beats civilized society head trips! lol ; )
Well done. It brought back all the great memories. PCT 95 vet
Chris O'Keefe
95 vet? Damn you are O.G.
This documentary captures the beauty of the Pacific Crest Trail with stunning visuals and a mix of dynamic and serene shots. While the narrator's tone is somewhat monotone, it remains a captivating hiking film.
Man, after watching this and many other trail documentaries, I keep coming back and watching this one again. It just captures the essence of time spent outside and what it provides. I just really enjoy this, great work!
"I am growing accustomed to the gentle rhythm of the wild, The pace of normal life begins to appear absurd" Wisdom Earned Not Learned.
Thank you for all the times you paused, took out the camera and filmed. I know it is hard to hike a long way, worry about water and food and shelter and still find the drive to film something. What an achievement . I am glad to see too that after your journey you have found a meaningful way to contribute and give back. You seem like a really decent and giving person. Thanks for sharing.
Made me cry, this is something that I will do. We don’t conquer land or the world it conquers us! 7/29/2020
❤️
Seeing all the beautiful mountains and deserts of California really makes me wonder why almost everyone who visits there as a tourist heads straight for Hollywood and Disneyland
I was born and raised in San Diego for 15 years and have always wondered the same thing. Why the hell do you want to spend your trip in nasty LA or some metro area? CA has SO much nature to offer and things to do that to me it seems like a waste of a really expensive trip.
Death Valley and the Sierra Nevada are two of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen...much better than Hollywood
I have always wondered the same thing, california has so much nature, in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful and diverse in the US.
Because different people like different things. It's not rocket science, and you're not special.
@@msstorey01 well duh 😂
It's 7:38PM..after watching this documentary I was almost compelled to pack up my gear and head to the trails...sheesh.
Extraordinary job!
Near the Canadian border when thunder came, and the rocky trail was slipping away it seemed nature was crying, wishing that your journey through nature would never end.
You guys are my kindred spirits! I cried watching this knowing, that at my age, I will never be able to accomplish this. I live for my time outdoors and in nature. If God granted me a do-over, I would have dropped everything and adopted a life on the trail! Wishing you many more miles :-)
How old are you? Your thoughts are your only limitations. If you want to walk it, go for it. See how far you make it.

If you don’t finish you can always go back another time let me they do on the Caminos in Europe
2.8 million views, good! I think it deserves more! I watched this at least 10 times through. I love hiking/backpacking, this ministers to me!
The Daydreaming section is so beautifully done that it honestly makes my heart ache. Perfect music selection, the contrast of the weather in the footage, the passage selection for the narration...it’s all just so wonderful. That longing, nagging wanderlust just takes over as I watch it, every time. The thing I love the most about this is that what is conveyed to the viewer is strictly appreciation. Even the ugly moments that you know were difficult are portrayed in such a beautiful way, because you are aware that they were, and that the journey is a beautiful collection of discrete moments. I hope SO dearly that I am able to complete a thru-hike before my time on this Earth is through. Thank you for sharing this wonderful journey. It truly is incredible to watch.
Watching this in 2019 for the first time. Blows me away- get chills seeing your journey end thinking about what a trip that had to have been. Thank you guys for carrying that camera thousands of miles to give me this feeling.
One of the best CZcams vids I've seen in my life. So inspirational.
Damn, that was good. Well done. The ultimate adventure.
That means a lot, coming from Gabriel!
That is words from a man who also does a lot of hiking.
You guys rock! I know it takes a lot extra effort to get past the frustration of thru hiking and still find the energy to get good shots and pictures, not to mention all of the time it takes to edit. Thanks a ton!
I watched this a year ago and just rewatched it after I completed my through hike this year! Great work, it really brings back the memories.
I never even thought someone could possibly make that journey. Thanks for doing it and sharing with us that wonderful experience!
Bravo. I recognized many places I have been 30, 40, 50 years ago.
This is absolutely beautiful... it totally captures the spirit of long-distance hiking. I smiled and cried and it brought back so many memories of my hike. I just finished the AT and the PCT is definitely something I want to do someday. Thank you so much for this documentary!!
This is 100% the best documentary I've ever watched
2023, I'm 50, my son is 8.
I can't wait for him to become brave enough to walk this trail with me.
If he wishes.
Awesome video!
This video changed my idea on the trail I wished to do, in the past it was the Appelachian trail but coming back to this video constantly over the last 4-6 months I am ready to go and will be starting the trail with my best friend of all time next year in March, we will also be recording our journey along the way and I hope we can do our video as good as yours. Thank you once again as 20 year old lad I now just need to make it happen and I hope anybody reading this will get the courage and time to do this trail because we all know it is worth it.
I have been dreaming about doing this trail for years now, but unfortunately I have to wait until I’m 18 and out of school. All I can do for now is educate myself on trail life and the nature around us all. I wish you luck in your journey in march, and I’m looking forward to seeing your documented experience if you decide to post it
I heard about the Pacific Crest Trail not too long ago. I watched this video 4 times today. I am inspired. I have a dream and goal. Thank you, this was amazing.
Thanks for sharing, plan on hiking the trail hopefully 2019/2020 to raise awareness for Veterans mental health issues. God willing, fifth generation war veteran Desert Storm 1990/94.
Jamal Yusuf Ali Bey Vietnam vet here. Too old for hiking now.
Thank you for your service. Veteran here as well.
Have you embarked on the journey yet? If so, how was it? If not, how come? Hope you are doing well in 2021.
I’ve seen a lot of videos on this beautiful format called “CZcams” but this has to be the most amazing and inspiring video I’ve ever seen!! Thank you for creating and posting.
Beautifully made. Had me in tears. I long for an experience like this
Wow!!
..."there is a lot of God in nature..."
Tears hearing you say those words. Yes, there's a lot of God in Nature! I worship the same God that nature pays homage daily. Humbled at every sight, every windy day out there, or every stormy cloud.
Thank you for sharing!!
Most people don't understand when I tell them that the trail is my church.
That was truly incredible, guys. Brought tears to my eyes at the call to adventure.
Thanks, gents, for reminding me that my heart contains the joy of the Sierra.
OMGoodness what a beautiful journey. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures.
I’m prepping to thru-hike 2020! I really enjoyed the footage and I personally liked the narrator’s voice, it’s simple, perfect for the point. The ending made me tear up, the thought of ending the experience seems so bittersweet!
I was moved by your film. It felt to me like a love letter to nature, to the trail, to the return to a simple life & raw experience. I'll be attempting a thru-hike this year and I'm even more excited now. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for inviting us along with you! This was such an awesome documentary! At 66 I have section hiked the PCT on and off since 1971 so my goal is Thru Hiking it in the next few years.
my heart has been hard for weeks and you found a way to soften it. Thanks for reminding me of the blessing of having had access to the high Sierra and the experience it gave me.
Im from northern California and grew up back packing and camping. My old pops is 82 and lives near Mt. lassen alone 365. Ive hiked the PCT in a few spots and really enjoyed your video of this journey. Thanks
This film brought me to tears at times. Beautiful. Keep trekking ❤️
I returned to your video a year later and 100 more peaks under my belt to watch it for the third time.
My sense of appreciation for not only this endevour, but having it here presented to the world in this film grows every time I watch it.
Thank you for allowing us this unique privilege to get a glimpse of this chapter in your guy's lives.
I'll be back to watch it again. I'm sure. 💗
I was in tears not even half way in. This was such an inspirational journey, thanks for letting us tag along!! 🍾👏💚
Hi Casey and Colin, i just wanted to say that watching your documentary inspired me to hike the trail this year (in 2016) as I'm writing this I am back home after completing about 1/3 of the trail. Watching this again has rekindled my fire of desire to complete a true thru hike, and hopefully will attempt and complete in 2017. I just wanted to say thank you so much for opening my eyes to the humbling beauty of of the wilderness, and also that anyone can do amazing things if they can put their mind to it.
Jesse Klansek Wow, awesome!!
so did you do it
I want to do this. Probably in parts, but I soooo want to do this
Incredible scenes! Nature at its finest.
You can literary see the changes on their faces and their eyes... They've seen it...what it is exactly, might take some time to process. Wish I was there.
God bless
Beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. I've been to many of those sites. The memories came flooding in.
I have no idea why over 900 people would dislike this documentary
Great job! "No great realization, no epiphany, no feeling of bliss. Those moments rested in the journey." A bitter sweet end, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to your future adventures, whatever they may be.
"...a feat without any concrete value..." and yet priceless all the same :)

I’m 24 years old Type 1 diabetic and want to accomplish this beautiful journey. Thank you for this video ❤️
Watching this (and hearing the music) gave me a warm glow feeling about my past.
Aesthetic, poetic, calmly kinetic and wise. Lovely.
I have been dreaming of this for 20 years. Your video has been the deciding factor to make this happen. You have captured so much inspiration and beauty it is truly art at it's finest. I finally have the time and money and the time is now!!!
How was it?
Thanks for this.As a fellow PCT hiker I salute your journey.Well done.Stay humble and never let the wilderness leave your body mind and soul.
What a beautiful journey! Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant, the quotes the insight, the self discovery, what an achievement. Even when I watched 5 years later it filled me with wonder and awe. Thank you for sharing.
I am in awe of your strength and will! The journey you shared was amazing! This is the kind of inspiration children and adults a like need in our lives! Congratulations to you and all you have achieved!
I never tire of the joy of this video. Today, it is helping me through the pain of an abscessed tooth and depression. Thank you.
One of the absolute BEST films of its kind! The scenery and cinematography is exquisite and so inspiring. I could hardly sit still for the whole thing - my hiking lust became overpowering!! My new favorite, go-to, positive vibe inspiration vid.
Stunning. Beautiful. Amazing. Awesome. No words can account for your adventure. Thank you for sharing it.
I'm sat at home during the Covid 19 lockdown. This has film brought me to tears. Absolutely beautiful. I'm a mountain biker and a surfer. I have a great appreciation for nature and a growing longing to get out there on some great adventure. For now we having to stay at home but the mountains will still be there we are once again free. Thanks for the inspiration guys ❤❤❤
This is a beautiful adventure. Thank you for sharing. Tears in my eyes. Just beautiful.
I don't know why but I am crying. I feel like you captured the beauty, simplicity, complexity, and reverence of such a journey. I am in awe. I feel so happy be included in the story of your hike. Thank you for sharing.
"The pace of normal life begins to appear absurd." Well said, well said.
Great piece of art. Very gripping, moving, invoking.
Absolutely astounding. Thank You. And God Bless you all!
This truly stands out and perfectly illustrates the individual experiences while leaving the viewer wanting just 20 minutes more - Well done!
The ending commentary brought me to tears that only people who experience this can understand.
I have watched this 5 times or more. I admire more than you know, the expression you portray. I’m from Washington and love the cascades and backpacking and this art of a documentary helps explain what I experience on my adventures. Thank you so much!!
Thats nice uh ... some talk some film some explain some joke .. as long as we re walking !!!
I love this film, it shows the real joy and lifting of spirits to be had by simply taking part in an adventure like this. The joy in the faces of the people who you meet along the way, in your faces and in mine too watching it all. People who you know well and those who you meet only once in your lifetime will make an experience unique in a way that can never be planned or scripted. All you have to do to find and capture it all is to get up and to go and roll the dice to see how, where and how far they fall. Those memories will last forever. I have a little more faith in the human race after seeing and listening to this, thank-you for sharing with us.
I’ve watched quite a few documentaries on the Pacific Crest Trail trek and this one by far is my favorite. The narration at times moved me to tears with its beauty, especially when quoting the great Edward Abbey. My only complaint was the use of plastic bags when grocery shopping. Thank you for this inspirational documentary. Youth is not wasted on the young
This was so awesome… every US citizen should be compelled to do something like this at some point in their lives. It is just such an amazing and beautiful journey. Thanks for sharing 👍😃
Signed back into my CZcams account just to say this was incredible and moving. I’m left feeling inspired, restless, and a bit disheartened because I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to experience first hand the beauty that you so awesomely captured here. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I hope you get the chance. It may not be too late!
I have watched all the thru hiking documentaries I can find, and this is by far my favorite
Needs more recognition. This a feat of humanity
I bet I have seen this "move" 15 times and I love it!! Great work guys with the footage and script + voiceover.
This is a work of art. Thank you for such an honest, beautiful and wise account of such a human journey. I'm inspired.
Does anyone read new posts? I really enjoyed this video. I saw people enjoying living. They enjoyed their hike, they enjoyed their food, they enjoyed the beauty around them and they enjoyed the company of each other. They enjoyed LIFE! How many people can say they've enjoyed life?? Healthy people, happy smiles sharing an experience with people from different parts of the world. And they all smiled!
This was so beautiful. I can't wait to hike it one day
I always forget how blessed we are to live where we do. I live in Redding and I’m constantly taking the landscape I’m surrounded by for granted. This was a very moving documentary, wonderful job guys!
Watching now after the fires. Not much left of the Sierras untouched
When watching this video it's good to remember that it was filmed in a year with very little snow in the Sierras. This winter (2015 / 2016) the El Niño is active, and it's possible that many PCT hikers will end up scrambling for days through piles of deep snow in the Sierra in June and maybe even July.
I’m 54 and dreamed of doing PCT when I was younger. Thanks for sharing your journey guys! Somehow it left a warm glow inside
Wow, this is a must for the world to see. So much strength to tell a story for our society today.
This is what humans were meant to do. We've been doing it since the beginning of our race. Love seeing this. Hope to do it some day, maybe with a couple horses too.
Yes and I live in alaska.
This is the second time I've watched your film. The first time was this summer as i began my peakbagging journey. Again I've watched it with a more significant appreciation of this monumental endevour you guys took on and was inspired. I know I'll watch it again in the near future. Thank you so much for putting this together. ❤
Crazy but real hikers......I truly admire all of you hikers in this video. Thank you.
