- The Rockwall Trail in Kootenay National Park is about 56 km long and follows the base of a massive limestone cliff wall for which it's named. While it's possible to run the trail in single a day, we decided to fastpack the route over two days in the summer of 2020.

I came to the comments to say how awesome your gear is :)
"Since we can't go anywhere else, we visited somewhere closer to home."
*visits arguably the most beautiful place on earth*
It’s true! We’re so lucky to call this incredible place home.
Wow... I cannot believe I just realized I was unsubscribed to this channel. I fixed that immediately
The combination of the trail environment and your immersive way of filming trail-running is fantastic! Having fun just watching it.
Thanks James, I appreciate that. I try to make my films enjoyable whether you're interested in trail running or not.
I couldn't agree more with you, James 👍🏼
Yeah, totally what he said! ☝🏻🙌🏻
Well....wow. I just finished a 3 day 2 night hike of the Rockwall. I went north to south. Honestly I just have no idea how you could have the strength and endurance to both get up to Floe, then to Numa Pass, down to Numa and then up to Tumbling. I am just blown away you grinded up Tumbling from Floe in a day. When I was coming down Tumbling on my 2nd day my knees where just dying. My hat is really off to you both for somehow grinding this route south to north in 2 days. Incredible. Glad you had great weather.
My first night I hiked to Helmet. The 2nd day I went up Rockwall Pass, down to tumbling creek, up Tumbling and then down to Numa Creek. Last day I went up Numa Pass and down to Floe and exited. Wonderful place for sure. A incredible experience but I still can't believe you did it south to north in 2 days. Congratulations!
You are so lucky to live in Canada. What a country.
I live 1 hour from the Rockies (here in Alberta) and every time I go (which is often) I'm even more amazed at what I have in my backyard. As I'm writing this it's March and I'm clawing at the walls waiting to get out there. I don't love the fact there are grizzlies but I take precautions and it's a good reminder we are not always top of the food chain:)
These fastpacking trips are a bucketlist dream for me. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hey, wow - you made something really beautiful here. Thankyou.
That was some Beautiful scenery you had there , lovin your videos so much
Beautiful country!!
I remember you didn't like coffee I'm happy you seem to appreciate it now .
I've never considered ultralight hiking, let alone fastpacking, as I don't mind going to hikes with 30kg+ on my back with camping and fishing gear. As I've got into running and trail running, these do seem like nice way to do extended weekend trips! Maybe someday I have the opportunity to do some of these nice trails in Canada also :)
outside. very normal ... see this channel i am very happy . thank you very much for the information .
Wow, beautiful!
18:32 Now that's a picture worth printing out!
Mt. Abbott was a cool little summit.
Great video. Well done. Thanks for showing me places close to home I haven't been to yet. I love both BC and Alberta, my home
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible. The music in your films is playlist worthy.
Thanks! I've considered putting together iTunes playlists actually, maybe it's time I do :)
Beautiful film! I did Rockwall almost 5 years ago now, in three days, with my dad. It's definitely my top trip in the Rockies! When we were there at the start of July, there was an avalanche covering half of Tumbling Creek Campground, and we were climbing over avalanches both going into and out of that valley!
Oh wow, that must have been pretty surreal.
Thank goodness for the CZcams algorithm that brought me here, great stuff!
Thanks Andy!
ive literally been on a binge of your videos! so beautiful
Thank you so much! 🙏
amazing nature!
wow the wildflowers by floe lake look incredible and helmet falls looks terrific aswell.
Those were definitely both highlights for us!
Unbelievably beautiful.... omg
Thanks Jocelyn!
awesome video! love your storytelling and cinematography
Honestly brilliant film making . ❤ lovin the chanell
Amazing looking trail. Those Rocky Mountain rugged peaks are my favourite i've seen anywhere.
Agreed, I'd say they might rival the Alps in terms of beauty, especially given how much more wild and remote they feel.
I don't know why would someone dislike this video, I hope I can run this place this summer. Thank you.
I dont think you xan dislike video, but amount of adds is killing pleasure from watching it undortunately
Awesome Video! Well shot and Narrated! love the Maps! Just subbed
Such a beautiful run. Thank you for sharing it. “Running Vacation” brought a smile to my face. So much love in this video. That shot of helmet falls as you walked up was so nice. And that suspension bridge!! Awesome! Love the cap off with the mountain hike
Thanks Shawn, I appreciate the kind words!
Absolutely stunning! Your videos are incredible and you keep me adding places I need to visit! Keep up the great work!
So impressed by this video. Top notch production value.
Thanks!
Beautiful piece - and lovely route. Might have just added an item to my list thanks to you guys.
Another sweet movie. Well done. I did Rockwall about 5 years ago now and have fond memories of it. We did it in one go, but I believe you are right, fastpacking it instead of running it in one shot is definitely the way to go. Gives you so much more time to enjoy this insane scenery. I'm pretty sure Melanie and I will do that again in the near future. :)
Thanks Brice! I could see maybe running it in one go now that I’ve done it once slower, but the other way around would feel like the clock is ticking.
@@JeffPelletier Yeah, it was a long day, we camped on the paint pot parking lot and ran the whole thing, then drove back home to Vancouver for 9 hours straight. I was pretty smashed at the end of that particular day.
Ah, camping right at the trail head would have at least allowed you to get an early start 💪
@@JeffPelletier Yes, we literally slept in the bushes behind the vehicles. :)
Takk!
Superb video Jeff…❤️ It is a wonderful trail ..! Thank you showing us its beauty..
You make some of the most beautiful videos!
Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed this video with a cup of coffee before heading for my run, thanks for sharing this with the world Jeff, great playground you guys have over there.
Beautiful. Really impressed when I saw the Rockwall itself.
You and me both!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely Stunning!
Thanks for sharing this video. What a beautiful trail!
Looks like paradise !
Funny seeing this out in the middle of winter, so pretty!
Just incredible and so well filmed and put together... You have a new subscriber (extremely jealous too as I live in Australia ☹️)
Looking forward to watching your other vids!
Thanks Stephen!
Great video, looks beautiful, great watch on a cold endless lockdown day in the UK.
Beautiful film, thank you.
Thanks for sharing loved that dreaming of my next Adventure
Guy I was hiking with on Carnarvon Lake lake last year told me about this trail and I was surprised I'd never heard of it until then. Really solid video Jeff, super scenic and great film making!
literally TWO SECONDS into the video and I already feel so well entertained and inspired. Yesterday I bought my Salomon Running vest thanks to all your great info and inspiration. Decided to go with the new 15l cross vest due to winter 😅
Nice! I’m looking forward to testing that one out myself.
@@JeffPelletier already looking forward to that review ❤️
Stunning scenery
Sounds like an epic adventure! I really want to tackle something like this soon!
It really sucks to be in Belgium when I see this! WOW!

Very true, thanks!
Love your commentaries and films. They are beautiful. Looking forward to more adventures from you!
Thank you! Stay tuned, lots more coming this season.
JEFF.....always love your videos. Great scenery, great mountains and lots of great looking trails. Thanks for taking us all along on this adventure. Take care
Thanks Randy!
Great content as usual. As an European, I appreciate the fact that you're using the metric system 😁
Of course 😉.
Don't Canadians use the metric system anyway?
Amazing views, looks, like a great trip
Stunning!
Great work once again, scenery reminds me so much of your Tor de Geants adventure.
Thanks Tyler!
Incredible as always Jeff! Can’t wait until travel to Canada is possible again 🤘🏼
Thanks Jordan!
Wow...stunning film...simply stunning. thank you for creating and sharing this. What an experience!
Thanks Danny! Glad you enjoyed it.
Unbelievably beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your inspiring film!!
My pleasure!
Jeff - this is absolutely your best fastpacking video yet. Well thought-out, professionally shot and wonderfully narrated. Loving it.
Thanks Heidi, I appreciate the kind words! I feel like I've been improving slowly but surely in my approach with each new film.
Thanks for sharing those beautiful sceneries. Trails looks so perfect there! Cheers from the Pyrenees.
Thank Mat! I can't wait to get over to the Pyrenees. We were supposed to go last year but had to cancel. The plan is to hopefully still come in July for the Val D'Aran 100 mile race.
Such a beautiful trail! I am so incredibly jealous of this adventure!
It really is!
Wow, que hemosas montañas! ♥ Loving all your films!! Gracias :D
Muchas gracias!
Wow, thank you for showing us such a gorgeous part of the world. I would want to run along that clearly marked trail forever!
I can't wait to go back myself!
I have done this at least 20 times and always love that easy hike . Great video Jeff!
Awesome! Thank you!
So inspiring, just wants me to get out there!
Awesome job capturing the beauty of that trail and some of the Canadian Rockies
Thanks Arnault!
I could watch this type content all day!
Love hearing that, thanks!
Wow breath taking beauty! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic!
Many thanks!
A beautiful video and thank you. As an Aussie who until a few years ago commuted between Sydney and Calgary for 10 years for work, I really miss your beautiful country and you lovely people - "Aussies with an accent"! While I did some hikes while I was there, I would have loved to have done some overnights like this. Thanks to you, I can still experience them! Cheers and take care - Dave
Aussies with an accent 😂. Definitely a lot of similarities between Aussies and Canadians!
@@JeffPelletier Truth is that my colleagues in Calgers all referred to me as a "Canadian with an accent" - the highest of compliments and one I am undoubtedly unworthy of!
Freaking amazing! I need to move out to BC, thanks so much for capturing and sharing your adventure, your cinematography is killer!
🙏
Wow this trail looks absolutely stunning
It really is! I can't wait to go back.
Stunning! And such a great choice of music.
🙏
beautiful landscapes, thanks for sharing! missing trails in these covid times...
Thanks David! We were very lucky to have still been able to get out on the trails here in B.C. this year.
Wow!
Loved the video. Been debating rockwall for a one day run for awhile now and you've convinced me. Need to get over here!
You'll love it. I'd still like to go back and run it in an single day, but I'm glad I did it at a slower pace first to soak it all in.
Gorgeous area, really reminds me of the landscape in the Swiss Alps (without the villages & cows!) and one valley in particular sooo reminded me of the Dolomites; this part of BC has been on my radar for a while now, going to have visit post-pandemic. Thanks very much for a finely crafted film as always @Jeff Pelletier! I also think it's brilliant how you always include some background history of the areas you visit as well as topo map shots.
Thanks! I do try to strike a balance between 'adventure' and 'travel documentary'. In the future, I'd love to go into even more detail around some of the people and places we might visit for our races and adventures abroad.
I generally hate CZcamsrs due to their toll on society with irrelevant content. But ur video was amazingly done and with amazing content. Thank u for giving me An amazing place to
Check out to while on my treadmill for a few Miles.
Beautiful. Well done. Thanks.
Thank you!
Absolutely stunning Jeff, I would watch an hour version of this video. Your videos are that great.
Thanks Robert! I was tempted to stretch this one out a bit, but maybe this way it’s worth watching twice 😉
@@JeffPelletier Definitely, I think more of your subscribers would like it. Still a great video already looking forward to the next one.
Very well done! I liked the Google Earth or whatever map illustration in the beginning. Great trail abs scenery.
Thanks! Yep, that map was done in Google Earth Studio, along with a bit of work in After Effects.
Brilliant. Wot an amazing place. Thank you for sharing 👍🏃🏻♂️🌲🙏
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Incredible video! Lovin' the style!
Thanks Shane!
Awesome.
Thanks!
This was amazing! Editing, music, the views! Well well done! I got into running back in March when my learn to ski mountaineer trip was cut short. I have been looking forward to making it back to the Rockies for some mountain running and now you have inspired me to go fastpacking! Just found the channel and now I'm hooked. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I love ski touring as well, but I secretly can never wait for the snow to melt so I can hit the trails again ;)
@@JeffPelletier Just managed to snag a night at Numa and the day before and after at Marble Canyon!!!! I'll be bikepacking to the campground! You inspired me to fastpack this route 5 months ago and now its booked!! Slighly nervous about the marathon ish distance on the second day but going northbound give me the option to bail early should my legs fail me. So that's good! Haha!
I'll be taking the bivy gear I will have used to climb Mt. Ball and Stanley a few days before! Will be cool to be able to look over at the route I will have just done!
Ive watched this vid 4 or 5 times now and I'm still amazed with how well you captured your experience. Im sure it will be better in person (haha) and I hope the video I make of my experience will turn out half as good as yours!!
Thank you for inspiring me!!
Happy trails!
Top de mais vocês dois correndo juntos 🤩. Paisagem linda tbm.... ótimo vídeo! Faz mais igual😏
What an excellent route! So much packed into a relatively short distance. Would love to give this a go some day! Thank you for documenting and sharing your experience!
Thanks Raphael! It really is a stunner - one of those routes where you can’t help but stop every few minutes to take in the view (and to take a few photos). I’m so glad we didn’t rush through it in a single day.
@@JeffPelletier Very much agree on that last point, as you pointed out in the video a "running vacation" sounds pretty nice! Athletic pursuits are great too but the approach you took here I could definitely see myself aging with haha.
Wow, amazing place and trail! How fun. Awesome video work!
Thanks Sean!
My god the views!!
Quickly have become my favorite CZcamsr!
😎
Thank you........thats it, thank you for the film
🤝
Great video from an awesome landscape. Thanks for sharing Jeff 👍🏻
Would be great to see a „behind the scenes“ about your filming equipment, the setup, color profiles and maybe also your typical post production process.
I’ve been considering doing that, yep. Probably a little niche but I’m sure there are enough people who’d be interested in hearing about it!
