Racing 5 Days in the Swiss Alps - SWISSPEAKS TRAIL 360K

- The SwissPeaks 360k is a trail running race that travels more than 360 km (224 miles) across the Swiss Alps, climbing over 26,000 metres (87,000 feet). Runners have up to 160 hours to complete the race, refuelling at the 31 minor aid stations, with the option to sleep at any of the 6 major life bases along the way. My goal would be to finish in between roughly 100-120 hours, and to sleep around 6-7 hours over the 4 to 5 day period. This was my second race over 200 miles, and I swore to myself that I would never try to do it again.

That sums up how I feel at the end of my 5k parkrun.
😂
Me, but make me a half :"(
We all start at the beginning 😊
You are not alone 😂
🤣
My husband and I have been really enjoying your videos! We would be really interested to see a video about what your recovery looks like after huge races like these!
Did the Swisspeak and other 200+ milers and recovery looks like that:
Complete rest for few days with terrible or no-sleep for the first nights. Cramps and DOMS.
Eat as much as you can, ice bath and massage.
Walk around for a week or so.
Week 3: swim and walk
Week 4: swim and cycle
Week 5: try running again
Yes that would be a great
I realize that this was already 2 years ago but it still boggles my mind how you not got totally lost or hurt during your night runs in those mountains.
What is especially amazing, is that despite the astonishing feat of endurance, you keep it humble and understated. The total elevation ascended is mind boggling. Oh - and you manage to shoot great footage as well. Great channel, glad the algorithm suggested it, I am hooked 👏🏼.
Cooy and paste! 🙏🏼
thank you for taking us with you
13:30 One of the most beautiful transitions I’ve ever seen!
🙏
@@JeffPelletier Would love to know how you do those routes on Google Maps for the videos! Great stuff!
Thanks Andy. I’ll put together a tutorial video one of these days, but it’s essentially using Google Earth Studio along with After a effects for the labels.
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
I just checked my climbing for the past years, and this race alone has more than i ever did in an entire year. This is nuts. And i dont live in a pancake flat region. Mad props to you.
10:05 the executioners walking to Hagrid's hut in the Prisoner of Azkaban 🤩
Jaw dropping footage with an excellent commentary. Jeff’s films are a healthy mixture of his personal journey along with event information and a travel guide for those considering them. His mood is calming and positive even when exhausted! This is very Tor like (which is a great film) with more advanced mapping that compliments the beautiful landscape recordings. Easy to watch and inspiring! Class 👍
Thanks Ben, this kind of feedback is really encouraging, especially given how much work I put in to this one. 🙏
I enjoyed your commentary and the scenes you filmed of the landscape and animals. It made me nostalgic for the years I lived in Germany and the European trail running culture.
I’d love a chance to live in Europe myself and to experience it every weekend!
@@JeffPelletier I hope you get that chance!
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your content Jeff! These epic goddamn experiences, jeepers guy! I'm actually going backwards now watching your older videos lol. Gosh, you're an amazing Storyteller AND athlete!!!! Brava!
Found and watched a few of your films now, I am an ex marathon runner who just got in to hiking.. I love what you do! When you said you only film at your highs, makes total sense to me! When you want to roll over and just sleep on trail seems easier but you don't... love it!
My dream is honestly to be able to things like this. Living in a huge city for my whole life has deprived me of even a single hike. I hope to do stuff like this after I finish school. The film really captures the beauty of this trail and the activity. Beautiful work! Great Job!
Thanks James! Here’s hoping you get to escape the city more often in the future.
Loved the documentary!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this film Jeff. Between this and the Tor de Geants video the landscape is absolutely dream like. I can't even describe how much I would also like to have my human experience endure the beauty of something like this and to reminisce about it for the rest of my life. This experience you share is so incredible and you do it so so well.
🙏
I love the guy in the end, playing that super out of tune Ukulele, and singing happily. To me, thats the ultramarathon spirit😂
Hah for sure. He apparently played for the volunteers at every aid station along the course.
Hats off to U Buddy
You did all that Shooting for Us while running such HORRIBLE Distances
God Bless U 💐💐💐
Bravo. Kudos. Proficiat!
Kudos 😂
My 8 mile hikes up and down ONE mountain rather look like this. The last half mile is utter torture. But anyway, great job, you super human!!!
Great film!
Lost for words really 😮
I think I would feel overwhelmed by the beauty!
Great job mate. I watched this while on the treadmill. Great scenery, voice over and camera skills too!
Man, SUCH a great vid. Thanks for putting this together!
Thanks Chris!
Been watching it several times now alone and with my wife. It's such a great source of inspiration, strength and commitment!! Thanks for sharing!!
The scenery in this film is absolutely amazing!! Truly epic. I stayed in that holiday centre in Fiesch (the big concrete structure) back in 1994 on a youth camp ... Though i did nothing heroic like this back then :-)))
OMG. UR AMAZING BRO
8.2k views and not a single dislike, I can see why! Excellent film my friend.
Appreciate that!
"I plan on running races of reasonable distance...like 100 miles." 😂😂😂I know very few crazy humans as endurance runners. 100 miles....reasonable. LOL Great job! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Such an incredible race and story, Jeff. Thank-you for sharing it and allowing us to escape the madness of 2020 for half an hour!
My pleasure!
I love your videos, totally inspiring, and your reviews are spot on as well👌. Thanks so much for all the fantastic content 👏
w0w..
Fantastic outstanding thank you for sharing🙏
Thanks for sharing and congratulations on this epic race. Nice to see how your girlfriend and family are supporting you.
It felt like the church bells were ringing just for you when you turned up from the the mist....
I felt that way as well! Although, I also felt like a way in a horror movie. It was very ominous.
Amazing - both the run and the film! Thank you so much for taking the time to film and edit your adventures, it's really inspiring stuff!
Thanks Jeremy! I appreciate the comment 🙏
Agreed! One of the best made videos! Thanks so much. Enjoyed it a lot!

Even the cows knew how tired you were. Crazy race.
The cows definitely seemed sympathetic!
really great video, great footage, great comments etc. really inspiring. thx for sharing
Absolutely insane landscapes! Well done Jeff. I really enjoyed this. "My body was rejecting the idea of being awake..." That's never a great sign. But that really made me laugh. :) I also picked up on some sweet sound design details here and there. Subtle, but very well done.
Thanks Brice, I always appreciate feedback from someone who can appreciate how much time goes into these films!
what an amazing and beautiful personal movie, thank you for the insights to this adventure
Great work, both the race and edits are awesome. Love those peaks and all peaks really :-) but your footage/edits make such a beautiful film and show as close as one can what they feel like. Cheers

Come si dice da noi in Italia " tanta roba",bravo!Ti aspettiamo per il Tor des Geants💪
Vi ringrazio tanto. Arrivederci!
Great race and great video ( saw a typo - Champéry --> Chambéry - I am French :-b)
First nap at 109km... if the running wouldn't, the lack of sleep would kill me. Or make me fall of a mountain. When hiking the boulder-terrain you mention is my favorite to navigate. Running it is very tricky and you risk breaking an ankle if you do not watch out...respect for anyone even attempting this..
Thanks Erik. I love that kind of technical terrain as well, we have a lot of it here in British Columbia. I kept thinking during the race that this terrain would be super fun on fresh legs and with a few friends.
@@JeffPelletier It is, and of course when you have a bit more time to soak up the surrroundings. The mountains are my favorite place to be.
Great stuff mate
So inspiring my friend, thank you!
