Yes, there's very much a "Hey remember that nostalgia, right? Right??" and "It's so much better than the Lucas days isn't it? Right? Right??" in the marketing. It's like a more sophisticated version of the sequels marketing: "Look it's the 'legacy' characters!!" and "Practical sets, practical effects, right? Right??"
You forgot the "Deborah Chow directed all of these" (so it won't be like the sequels continuity, and it isn't Robert Rodriguez, honest...)

Ewan gets a lot of credit (and rightly so) for his efforts to replicate Guiness' voice, but I also think Joel Edgerton deserves some recognition for the same on his part portraying Owen. That whole clip of their exchange about Luke is great in so many levels as they both present characters more like those in A New Hope.

@@Somtric Yeah, well, there is also this thing called being a force ghost, which is a crazy big plot point in almost every Star Wars property. There is also very specific lines at the end of Revenge of the Sith that state that Qui Gon has learned how to be a force ghost, and it is obvious that he teaches it to Yoda and Obi Wan.
Obi-Wan died in Episode 4, too, and yet he shows up in Empire and Jedi, so your comment is incredibly silly.

Ewan and Hayden are my childhood man and to see them on the screen after 15 years is just amazing man. I played the revenge of the sith video game on the PS2 when I was small. I love everything about them, their characters their personalities it’s just amazing.

Love Ewan, he was never gonna say anything. He even admitted on Ellen, that he hated that he lied to Star Wars fans for years.
Did he say that 😂 I feel like at least 1.5 decades of him being asked if they would make a movie (later, a series) of just obi-wan's story and I remember him vividly just saying "I don't know, I haven't heard anything about it" but it makes absolute sense it was being worked on all this time.

With all respect to Ewan, Joel Edgerton absolutely delivered a cynical, tired Owen Lars we see in episode 4. Incredible depth of transformation considering how minor a part he was given in the prequels
I hope that if we do get a season 2, it'll focus on Obi-Wan and Owen on some kind of adventure on Tatooine.

I remember the cave scene from empire gave me nightmares when I was little (I’m a Gen Zer) it almost made me never watch Star Wars again now I’m not sure what I’d do without it

@@OutsetAdventurer I wonder if it depends what age you watched the movies. The OT were still the first films I saw, but I must have been like three or four years old. The fear just never set in with Vader. Cut to being about eight when TPM came out and seeing Maul creeped me the hell out.
To be honest, if I was acting and I saw Hayden in his vader outfit coming at me with intent I would honestly scream my head off while trying to continue my part first take 🤣

in A New Hope, Luke recognizes Obi immediately after waking up from being knocked out from the sand people. Then they talk like they've known each other for awhile, so I'm pretty sure there will be some sort of interaction between the two in this series

Based on the announced casting and what's already established, the answer to every question is yes, except possibly the attempt to redeem Vader (though it would be out of character to not)
Yeah I hope they don't do that. I've been spending time on thinking how they can realistically have Vader and Obi-Wan cross paths w/o Vader eventually finding out that Luke is on Tatooine, and my guess is that they don't meet up anywhere near Tatoonie, its off world some where...
Or, and I haven't decided if I love or hate this idea, but we could get Obi-Wan jedi mind tricking Vader into forgetting about Tatoonie all together. I'm sure writers could come up with a baller ass way to do that. Basically that Obi-Wan KNOWS that Vader is weak, due to the dark side, and uses that against him BUT stays on the run/shows Vader he is "scared" to make Vader think he has the upper hand.
It would connect well with Vader line from the original trilogy “obi wan once thought as you did”

I love how he just cusses like he would in a conversation with you at his home. What a great guy. It's also kind of weird hearing him cuss because he's known for literally being one of the nicest human beings in Hollywood. I’m sure there will be. Hayden doesn’t really say that he’s playing Darth Vader, but explicitly says he’ll play _Anakin._ So, that could be a hint that we’ll be seeing him without the helmet. Hayden hasn’t aged too much, so it’s pretty easy the visual and special effects team to de-age him. So easy that they wouldn’t need visual effects and can rely on makeup and, or, prosthetics. They already went all out three times with different approaches to de-age Mark Hamill, so why not Hayden as well? His voice sounds similar enough to what he sounded like in _Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith._ So, there’s not much of a need to change his voice for the role of a younger Anakin. More so as Darth Vader to give him the sound of James Earl Jones. Hayden’s voice now sounds similar to Matt Lanter who voiced Anakin in _Star Wars: The Clone Wars._ Star Wars fans and younger audiences are more familiar to Matt Lanter’s voice since his performance is more ingrained in the culture. That’s what younger fans grew up with. So, there isn’t much of a need at all to change Hayden’s voice.
I've seen lot of these ewan mcgregor interviews. He has amazing performance like moulin rouge & trainspotting.

I am super hyped for Obi-Wan and Darth Vader to cross sabers again, but it does cause some confusion. In A New Hope, when Obi-Wan and Darth Vader fight and Obi-Wan is ultimately struck down, Vader says to him something to the effect "When I left you I was but the student, now I am the master", which doesn't make sense if they encountered each other during his time in full Darth Vader attire. Nonetheless, excited to see this one!

No, I don't think so. I watched it a few times and it's just a strange angle. I don't think they cut anything out. I mean, they edit stuff out allllll the time (especially on Colbert) especially if an interview is extended and goes on too long. But I don't think anything's out of place here. Just weird sitting and camera angle.

I worry any time they say the director "left their mark" on a story that should already have a pretty clear direction.
Deborah Chow did some of the best episodes in season 1 of the mandolorian so I think its safe to say itll be okay.
Normally I agree but Deborah Chow is pretty amazing, so I have high hopes.
