SAVING KNEES AROUND THE WORLD WHAT A BLOODY LEGEND THIS MAN IS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE PLEASE
Fucking hell, that Voodoo 2 sounds like an absolute monster. Gonna have to sell my 3090 to get one
This is a very good advice, James. Many sim racers don't really realize how important is to place the 'cockpit' to
be confortable, and avoiding knee and foot pain.
I’ve been looking all over for if anyone else got knee pain while sim racing, glad to have finally found some tips!
I've had a MPFL (medial patellofemoral ligament) reconstruction so am no stranger to knee pain aggravated by sim racing. I have a few pointers to add to Dr Muscle's guidance:
-Be aware and thus cautious of your knee and ankle alignment when attempting to heel-toe.
-Lose the macho-ego and use a lower strength on your load cell to make sure you are not straining yourself unnecessarily.
-Try different footwear solutions as just a few millimetre on the sole can make a huge difference anthropometrically
-Ensure your pedal set does not move when fully pressed and that this extension isn't causing pain.
-Make sure to pad or cushion sharp edges, like F1 driver leg foam (especially in VR)
-Take extra care with egress and ingress; have a set up that allows quick, easy and painless 'driver changes'.
Remember you should be enjoying yourself, not torturing yourself.
Also make sure to have a DD girl rub your body down after a sim racing session
I thought I would just get used to it, seen this and it reminded me I probably wont. Cheers Doc.
10/10 Pro Tip! Tried it out, sitting in a wheelchair now. Would do again!
Dr. James West - only the best advice for crippling your beloved extremities.
I'm a brand new sim racer here! I am having this issue right now, I am glad a video like this exists! Very helpful, thanks.
Same
I could hardly believe how straight those legs were in the video. This man is a professional.
just stomp on your toes with the other foot. if you do it hard enough, you won't notice the knee pain anymore
You're a bloody mind reader. Just about to start adjusting my pedal placement, then ping. GM to the rescue. Started to get a funny hip
I instantly knew why my left knee specifically was hurting so much when you talked about pedal positioning within the first 5 minutes of the video..😅
I used to get a sore left knee during longer races, moving my brake pedal a couple of inches to the left sorted it out.
Haha great vid.
When I first got my HE pedals I was in agony to the point where I couldn't walk. I figured out the same thing, my brake pedal was too far to the right putting a side force through my knee. Moved the pedal over and the pain instantly disappeared.
I'm sure you've done a great deal of good with this vid.
About time this was covered! well done that man, long term SIM racing will no doubt cause some problems later down the line with Lumbar region as well and lower back pain being a potential problem. Make sure you get out of the rig and walk about between stints and don't sit in it watching your co driver you need to think about DVT its like being on a flight for hours
I remember my Vodoo 2. I thought it was the best thing since slice bread. I spend a lot of time setting up my pedals to keep my legs in straight a line as possible it is a big help.
Took a month or so break over the holidays from sim racing and had some real rough knee pain for the first few weeks back. It's still tender but lowering the load cell force and making some seat adjustments has definitely gone a long way towards minimizing the pain.
Good observation. Coincidentally, I was just thinking about this the other day.
The Voodoo 2 intro was genius
My personal recommendation is to have a proper seat angle if you use an alurig (angling side-brackets arent that expensive) and if you don't need a clutch, place both pedals equally apart from your feet. That did help me personally a lot.
If you do need a clutch, it becomes a bit more difficult. You may also want to place the clutch in the middle if you only use it for starts.
Good video bud, it's my right knee that is usually hurting especially after endurance sessions. I'll have to look at my Pedals.
Go for a run, sleep well. That's half the issue solved right there.
Hardly
Was going to say damned near the same thing. Running is at least as amazing as sim racing.
From my understanding running is quite hard on knees. Walking , cycling , swimming are much better if people have knee pain / prone to knee pain. Not a doctor so anyone looking for facts should check the scientific evidence.
Sleep is really underrated in terms of improving health. A better sleep routine greatly improves things. (Don’t sleep too much or too little. Sleep at a resonable time)
@@GamerMuscleVideos Running is part of the reason I have degenerative cartilage in my knees. Elliptical machines, cycling and other low impact exercises are now recommended(from a professional, not me my docs).
Yeah... I bought the Voodoo .. and the Voodoo 2.. to make my VR 3DOF motion RIG ROCK!!.. unfortunately I had to keep ugrading over the years. Now have VOODOO 3!!!!
well thx james.. i followed ur advice and my leg had to be amputated.. dont listen to mad man in a simrig.. very bad for ur health.. good luck!
Thanks! I bought T-LCM pedals few days ago. After a day of testing I felt pain in my knee. Did not have any pain with the g920 pedals. I think I need to rebuild the rig so I can sit in a better position.
I'm looking forward for the lower back pain video
I've just got V3s with the brake performance kit, so this is welcome advice.
Awesome, well done GM. PS I had a Vodoo1 and it was fantastic at the time - real 3d at full resolution. 🌝
I actually had 2 Voodoo 2 8mb cards in SLI for 1024x768 gaming at 30fps lol and one was the Creative one in the video... Flashbacks when seeing the picture of the packaging ^^
Subbed because of the Voodoo 2 card commercial.
Legs straight as laser beams!
Fk, You get my 'like' straight after Voodoo 2 advert without even watching the rest of the video. You get 2 more likes after watching actual video. BTW, You sound much more convincing than any CZcams 'professional' doctors nowadays. I just love this video.
This has been a very helpful video "specifically" for KNEEEEEEE PAAAAAAIN!!!
But the general pain I feel all over, whenever I watch a GamerMuscle Video (and unfortunately I watch a lot of them ; ) --- then that's another thing entirely. ; P
This video comes at a fortuitous time since I've taken the last week off of sim racing due to knee pain. I actually had to hobble around for a few days! I never realized that my brake pedal was out of alignment with my knee, so hopefully that helps the problem. I also started exercising again just yesterday, so overall joint strength will probably do me wonders.
If your knees hurt so that you even have to hobble for a few days, think of visiting a doctor. It's one thing to have pain due to an accident (if you fell or whatever), it's not the same as having pain due to continuous repetitive load, especially if you plan on keeping doing it.
@@vsm1456 it's most likely because I used to do alot of physical work on my knees in construction. That's when my left knee started to give me problems. I'm actually taking an extended break from sim racing to start exercising again. If I strengthen the muscles around the knee, the strain of braking should be supported across the whole leg. Since starting my training program, the knee pain has started to subside and I can walk up and down stairs again with no problem. I'm still going to give it a couple weeks of exercise before I go back to the drivers seat, but if the problem comes back, I'll have to go to the doctor for sure!
The KFH (Knees From Hurting) Guru has spoken.
Lol at the Voodoo 2. I remember the huge upgrade from my original 3dfx card...
My knees hurt just watching this
I noticed this VERY early in sim racing. I moved my brake to F1 style. I noticed that that this keeps axial force straight on at the joint due to not having to twist my left leg. I swap for stick shift, but not very often.
I love this! you are promoting voodoo cards🥺🤭😁😂😂😂😂
VOODOO 2
Where can one find the extra-wide brake pedal at 4:20? Was that a custom creation?
Fortunately the VOODOO 3DFX GPU is actually still for sale ....can't say that for the 30.. nvidia gpu's (ps that voodoo card made playing unreal really UNREAL !! awesome good old memories.)
I would reduce brake force on loadcell. Also my heel is resting on the pedal plate so I don't have much stress on my knees? So far so good. I only have pain if my leg is bend 90 degrees and heel is in the air
When can I order the graphics card? This was useful and everyone should listen to mister sim racing. GM, nice legs🙂
Now your next video would help me out, how to help wrist pain when you have carpel tunnel
We have entered in geriatric muscle channel
Voodoo2... :D i was 21, when it was released... omg, i'm so fkin old.... :)
He's trying to help us old SIM Racers.. So take it easy on the young one.. (Depressing...) DMAX

Got through 120 tea bags this weekend trying to sort this , im on the verge of deleting. !! 😔
I always wondered why the was that gigantic brake pedal. :D
GamerMuscle offers personalised knee rub with every voodoo card sold
would the voodoo 2 card be better than my 3080?
Why TF am i not subscribed already? 😀
It’s more back and shoulder pain for me, I like my FF pretty strong
Pain is no joke. Been dealing with right elbow pain for months now. Can’t seem to shake it.
my pain is in my right knee. I believe its a seating adjustment that I changed a couple days ago, I think i need to lower my seat.
Anyone with suggestions to reduce/solve shoulder pain?
What about your lower back? I need a good comfy sim racing seat that does not kick my lower back in 15 minutes
I am new to sim racing and I thought about this a bit before finding this video.
What is your opinion on to actualy making throttle pedal stiffer to even out the load on individual legs? Because it seems to me from what I have seen in review videos that left foot is doing a lot more work with those loadcell pedals. So I am bit worried about creating imbalance when I would buy a loadcell pedal set.
I make my brake quite light to be honest , also make throttle quite light. The only reason I'd make the throttle more heavy is if a person accidently adds to much throttle.
seven minutes and thirty six seconds I'm not getting back. :-D
What can you do for my haemorrhoids?
Gm: this could cripple you
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bald man is close enough to doctor, I will try it lol
What about the, for instance, left joint above the foot while braking?
You mean the top of your foot is hurting ?
Probably you are tilting foot back to lift it off the peddal , so tilting pedal away fr.you a bit / sitting higher / not having pedals as close might help.
I'm not a doctor
Now everyone can slide!
No need for knee replacements anymore :)
That is excellent advice, but how to deal with existential pain?
Drink more tea
GM saved my knees GM for Prime minister!
The medical episode. :-)
Is your website ok , it went down an hour ago and then fonts were all funky ☕

I have neck pain help
where can I get a Voodoo2?
been out of stock since 1998 sorry
Next video pls on pain in the ass when simracing.
Great video! (tbh no idea why i am even watching, dont even have knee pain)
I’m watching and not even simracing. Stil enjoying content. 🤣😂
Knee!! For be its back. But i have a seat that isn't wide enough! (playseat)
Old people simracing
I need advise on backpain xD
Why are your livestream VODs only available SOMETIMES? during work I see that you’re live but I can’t watch. I just thought "oh I’ll catch the VOD later", but...nothing.
I have set it to auto publish live streams now so they should show. I have noticed that sometimes they stay hidden for ages or take a long time process.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Thanks, James! ✌️✌️
seems so simple but i still needed an idiot on the internet to tell me.
TLDW: keep your leg straight and aligned with the pedals
EXACTLY !
You ask any idiot, flat earther or alike, the univercity of youtube is the only place you need to go to get your noledge, two or three videos and you'll be an expert regardless of the subject. 🤣👍
Or you could cut off both legs at the hip...no knees no Knee pain 💪
Tried it now I have Hip pain
Not true. There are actually cases of people who lost their legs and still feel itches. Maybe that also happens with pain.
GamerMuscleVideos - do you have any tips for ankle pain?! :)
my issue is with my back
Turn around and your pain will now be in front of you , keep spinning and eventually it will disappear as it wont know where your back is.
Looks like your pedals are mounted way too low (or your seat is too high.)
The issue is my knee pain is the right knee not the left and caused by using the throttle
Make the throttle lighter , and make sure the throttle is in line with your leg / knee / hip
@@GamerMuscleVideos Problem is i have simagic p2000 pedals and the pedal tray doesn't allow it too go too far over and if i move one i have to move the both including the brake and thats the one i had most issue with until i got the brake level with my hip as you say, maybe i could just remove my clutch because i never use it anyway.
Cheers though mate
Where's Bob and Brad?
This is like; old man noises, in video form. I have my Icy-Hot pads, and pain relief cream ready. Hit me with some orthopedic shoes and I'm good.
BTW... Nice knees, sir. Not quite bee calibur, but nice nonetheless.
It’s more ankle pain for me
That will be more down to the tilt angle of your pedals / also if you are having your foot bent backwards in an unnatural position.
Also questioning why im here at 15 😖
DD girl massages GMs knees with her.....DDs
Knee pain has now gone as blood and throbbing sensation rushes from one body part to another and some how has conveniently redirected it self for a happy ending... job done 🥳
Set that brake on 65kg! 🤣
?
i have more problems with butt than knees when doing sim racing
00:09
Wait, what?
*Answer* Stop being Old
Real simracers are all over 50
Its an unavoidable problem. Apparently it can affect people over 45.
Like I told my son. I can do everything I used to but it takes longer and hurts more and there seems to be more grunting when you do it.
Ayyy, I got the 69th like.
Accept the pain, be a man.
this knee pain crap is starting to turn me off sim racing
Simple solution.. sell yer sim rig...
Cannabis cures this for me tbh
