  • In this video, Christian Damm will introduce you to racing car ergonomics in relation to the seat, steering wheel, and pedals for the best sim racing setup for you at home in your sim rig.
Christian has been in motorsports for more than five years. Among others, he was with Ferrari as a part of their Engineering Academy in their ERS (Energy Recovery System) department for the Ferrari F1 team.
Racecar ergonomics - and your sim racing setup - is an essential aspect of sim racing for several reasons. If you want to perform to your maximum level, you’ll have to consider how you position yourself concerning the above standing factors.
There is no quick fix to success. It's all about consistency and healthy habits, and that's something the correct sim racing setup and racecar ergonomics can help you achieve.
That’s something that you’ll learn more about here, where Christian will explain the basics of a sim racing setup and racecar ergonomics so that you can integrate them at home in your racing simulator.

I really like what you've built. I would love to have this in my game room. I live in Norway and would like to race a bit.

Good video. What is the adjustable steering column that you're using?

Where can we get an adjustable steering column like that?

Great video!!! Do You consider releasing a separate brake pedal any time soon? So we can place them as You said. A lot of people do not use the clutch pedal in sim racing, since we got a dual-clutch system on the steering wheels))

      Thank you! 🙏
The clutch is a separate add-on on our Invicta pedals, so you can just keep the base throttle and brake combo if you prefer the system on your steering wheel :)

Hi. If you often experience pain when sim racing, you should consider consulting a doctor or physician. Don't take risks with your health :)
Now we have mentioned that you could adjust the distance to see if you get more comfort over time in a different setup. The pedal hardness and pedal plates could also be possible adjustments. Of course that depends on what leg (throttle or brake), you're having these issues with.

What is this whell adjustment up/down/front/back ? What kind of Rig has this?

    • @AsetekSimSports
      @AsetekSimSports  Před 2 lety +1

The rig we use in this vid is from Phoenix Racing (Phoenix Sim).
The average sim racer of course can't make wheel adjustments so quickly, but the overall points on ergonomics are still relevant no matter your setup at home :)

I’m having left knee pain when using my asetek brake. I usually rest my heel on the heel plate when braking which I noticed causes the pain ,but when I watched this video your heel is in the air. Is that how we’re supposed to be using this brake pedal? I did notice when I brake with my whole foot raised in the air it hurts a lot less. Which is the correct way?

As far as I'm aware recommended elbow angle is 90 degrees. He said 45 - 50...that's a half...having elbow at 90 degrees alows to transfer power from your shoulders to the wheel in most efficient way.all muscles in most efficient way. At 45 degrees you will be straining all muscle groups because you won't have the "purchase" to push the wheel.
The straighter the hand, the less bicep engagement you will get and therefore shoulders and wrists will be doing majoirty of work with tricep sprinkled on top
