Cant wait for Steele to push analog through that board via hdmi
😂😝
Maybe he wants to fly a webcam
🤣
For those asking about latency. This is not meant to be used by the pilot. This is a second feed option to a camera operator.
Would also be great for robotics.
If they could come up with a camera switcher like we used to have for analog that would be amazing.
Hopefully it will be ready by summer.
The only reason I'd buy this board, unless there's a source of cheap cameras..
That's really interesting indeed, Ian! Thanks for the review! 😃
The only thing missing is a way to switch between cameras with it!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Awesome kit! An interesting scenario would be to use a Pi with one of many possible Pi-cameras available.
There are also hats for the Pi (4, 5) that allow HDMI input (~$45-$50). This could be an option if needed to downscale a higher resolution to 720p FPV feed. In such a case, the Pi could also record the higher resolution.
This would be application depended, because would require a larger drone with space, or fixed-wing platform.
Many thanks for sharing Ian, as this opens up so many possibilities. Another is the ability to use HDMI switch, so multiple cameras could be flown, with ability to get actual camera views. eg: between an IR and visible light
Awesome! For years I hoped that a solution like this would become avalible, and it's finally looking super promising! Thanks for the review as always. My usecase is using it as a cheap and lightweight HD Video link with a Mirrorless Camera for a livestream Multicam setup.
Surely DJI could have implemented the tech from the OG Air Unit or even 03 and made a budget version of their transmission system!?
@@camdynkellett6782 DJI HATES their customers. I truly believe that !
Sadly, they are the only real option for most people/..
I have an old Inspire 1 collecting dust, this could be a neat way to turn it into a cheap thermal camera rig!
I second the need for Cini guys!
If that latency you can be gotten down then using a thermal camera as a tool for search and rescue on an fpv drone could be a very valuable thing. Another idea is to use this as some type of video signal repeater so that you could fly one drone high above your ground station location to act as a tall antenna and and get better signal over obstacles that may be between yourself and the further out drone.
I can see the Ukrainians and the Russians making use of it like this...
I would like to use this board as a simulator adapter for PC. Previously I tried a hdmi to composite video adapter but the quality was even poorer than normal analogue video.
Maybe you could even use Dji Goggles as vr goggles if you added a motion tracker.
Nice. but wont the air unit get hot as hell if using it continuously ?!
That's what a fans for!
@@Todd_Gerhardt 😂
@beefybeef1326 or u could try putting it on ice, good luck 👍
Nice! Would making a killing if support O3 1080 think about the endless possibilities - multi camera with hdmi switch 😂
Awesome buddy
Amazing 😊
The Mavic 3T and M30T drone are pushing 620x512 resolution, I wonder how well a designated thermal camera on a drone with Inav would work.
so whats the use case they had in mind when developing this board? the thermal camera application is pretty cool, are there any cameras you can actually use on an fpv quad for that with acceptable latency? that would be awesome.
My exact thought... For what really? 🤔. Maybe you could use some kind of Canon full frame camera on a 8 in so your Recording cam is also your FPV cam for framing shots as you see it... Maybe.
I'd like to run an HDMI signal directly into the goggles, without the wireless link (for a non-FPV application). But I think the goggles only have an analog input.
They should make it so you can switch between sources from the original camera and HDMI
Yes, this is something that is needed to make this an even better tool.
Is this something i can use to output HDMI from an RC-Pro controller straight to v2 goggles?
i fly mostly Mavic-3 and Mini-3 Pro drones and can't use the DJI Goggles RE anymore (they had an HDMI micro connector for video in).
I have AS (ankylosing spondylitis) and can't take the weight of those goggles on my spine.
I have the HD-Zero goggles and Orqa ones as well, but nothing feels as good (least amount of pain) as the v2 goggles.
Thanks!!
btw - site says "out of stock" :(
I first thought the board was going to allow the goggles 2 and integra to be able to be used with the avatar or hd zero vrx. It seems like we're maybe getting closer to that being a reality? I'm sure it's not as simple as plugging in USB c to USB c to the goggles 2, then hdmi from the vrx?
That's what I was hoping for too
@Ian, Have you added a Remote ID on your Pixhawk based drone? I was searching online if anyone has integrated RID with Ardupilot via Mavlink and did not find much info. This would be a good topic to cover. Also, I like BlueMark RID because of its size and cost, not to mention certified by FAA which raises another question, is FAA certifying equipment now? Or it is listed on FAA page because someone got a drone registered using this hardware?
He’s in the uk right?
could be compatible with walksnail VRX nano?
So can we finally get analog on our goggles 2 with this board? If so how?
Nice! Do you know any device to convert the usbc output from goggles v2 to HDMI in direct? Tks
Cosmostreamer
I have ordered the board yesterday
Air units get hot and shut down after a short period so unless you have good airflow over the air unit,I cant see what use it will be🤷♂
it's sold out..I really need this.
Take a drink every time Mad says: "720p 60Frames Per Second" :p
Some might say I did it on purpose as no one fucking listens when I say it once.
@@MadRC haha, perfect! Mate where in the UK are you based btw?
I wish we had analog/CVBS to DJI digital/O3 adapter... 😢😢
I would love to get something like this to walksnail
but walksnail goggles have hdmi input built in...
@@kamilgheraba4214 i mean like there, on the aircraft, not goggles
Must be 720p60?Do we need to transform 1080P signal to 720P then to the board or just plug it in?
Yes
Super un-excited about this - cant see many having a real use for this
That’s cool. It’s not for you.
You don't HAVE to buy it
Wouldn't dream of it@@CarlPaulsen
So if I have walksnail vrx I can connect it to dji goggles?
You can do it just with a HDMI cable.
Only 720p60
why is everyone talking about changing the cam with that board? i would only use it to fly velocidrone with my goggles!
Did anyone manage to get this toy in the last month or so? It's currently out of stock, and I'm wondering if I should be excited about the possibility of getting one or if it's hopeless
sold out!
still the same question? where to buy? Unfortunately it is always sold out!
Sorry I can’t control that. I would reach out to them.
Does it work with Walksnail VTX?
No
Cool idea... but 720p60 and no 03 support? Thats a no for me. Hell, 04 comes out in a couple days!
Fairy tales about O4 unit😅
@ali3n24 the preview is up on djis youtube page now...
@@BlitzK give me proofs please! Was anonced Goggles 3, Avata 2 drone and new RS camera gimbal but NOT o4 air unit...Stop post fakes everywhere , clowns!
Damn its sold out already!!
Still sold old ore again?
I wonder what the latency is on this thing, probably not flyable
As I said in the video the latency of the board is negligible. It’s all down to your specific camera.
"and here's 5V input" - points to the 3V pad...
Well this sometimes happens when you’re talking, filming and doing about 5 different things at the same time. It’s just a “typo” as such.
What the heck, its sold out
Already sold out haha
Great Bro
It's sold out ever sins I saw the short. Pitty
This seems a little pointless to me!
Then It’s not for you.
It's not really for drone use but it's cool because it has lots of other features... You can connect telephoto, night vision, and all kinds of other stuff to it and say use it for security cameras where you need a HD wireless link
bro looks like shrek
At this point after two months not being available to purchase on the website, I call it a fake news.
It’s not fake if it’s my hand ,I can’t control their stock or sales. I would reach out to them have a chat.
Obviously, you haven't wanted a crossfire product in the past! Lol lots of FPV products have taken a long time to get back into stock. Be patient... It means it's gotta be pretty co0ol!
@@MadRC I know, just busting balls.
@@KOrnhOliO1 never had to wait long for anything from tbs. It reminds me of Dragon Link receivers constant standby
5 days ago Auster said that boards in production. ETA 1 week. We'll see
Kinda hard to fly a webcam lmfao, who is buying this?
No audio!? Well this is just USELESS!!
Actually that's pretty sweet. I'm not sure how this helps the average FPV pilot. But I can see this for content makers.
