It would be really neat if the goggles could switch into low power mode based on a signal from the radio. Then I could leave the goggles on, but only power up the screens and VRX when my quad was armed.

Are the January 10, 2023 still the latest esp32 files? As of July 5, 2023, the ELRS Configurator will generate a single v1.3 firmware file for the HDZero Goggles VRX - which one should I load on my v2 goggles? Thanks!
Do you think this link could be used for audio in the future? I'm wondering if it's possible to create a hard wired device at the fc that could also talk back to the esp32 device in the goggles that could pass that information onto the goggles audio chip? 🤔 I don't know if the bandwidth would cope with this or if the link is stable enough during flight, but it would be great to add audio without doing the analogue hack. I am so excited to see what inventions and software mods the community and devs can create with this system.
You need to have the hd zero vtx connected and powered when selecting the display port option in ports tab other wise it wont work (my guess is it looks to see what system you are using?) without doing additional commands. if its powered seems to all just work strait away.
You also dont need to select msp it will auto select it when selecting display port+msp . i found this out past weekend when trying bf 4.4 with hd zero after reading some stuff online as i had the same no osd after selecting

I have switches on the radio to change channel and power while flying. Does the LUA allow that? Like using a switch to change VTX power level?
I need to have a Module with backpack function even if i only want to change Band and channel only on vtx ?

Hello, I've been flying fixed wing for a couple of years. I have two small Inductrix FPV pro quads I've flown with my Spektrum ix12 Transmiter with moderate success. I want to get into flying FPV woop size and larger cina or freestyle. I can afford to get a new Transmiter, googles and a couple of drones. Do I get the tx16s elrs transmitter? Or 1-4 protocol transmitter? ..... Get the hdzero or DJi? Also I'm in my 50's I'm not super tech savvy. I can learn, I'm at 101 I think.
Does all of this work with sharkbyte vrx module??????
Is this backpack function only available on BetaFlight? and Not kiss or other FC firmwares!
So if I fully understand, with Backpack and Smart Audio enabled I can set the channel in the ELRS Lua, plug in the quad and the VTX channel will immediately change to set channel, then the goggles will do the same on an analogue system, avoiding stepping on someone else's video. All correct?
can a qx7 paired with es24tx do this ?
My suggestion is that you should use lower resolution on your monitor only when your record a video, because all leters from BF Configurator as too small 😅 but the content by itself is great

Does all this just apply to the model from within which you've accessed the lua script, or to every ELRS model you have that's appropriately configured and updated? I.e. if I change the channel/power for one model, will that change then auto apply to another updated ELRS model on my radio?
Some ELRS settings are saved per profile id number, but there is no mention of the VTX Administrator settings being one of those. Might be worth asking on the ELRS discord for clarification ;)
will backpack work with inav as well and once all working if i use a diffrent quad will it just work with that or has it to be same moddel number as i dont have that set so i can just use the same moddel for aLL my quads
Backpack is really for the remote link so it’s Flight Stack agnostic but it need Inav to do some work I believe. I don’t know if they have done this.
I swear my 1W BetaFPV TX has a broken backpack or something. I've not managed to get it to interact with anything despite doing everything show by multiple people.
I have TX16S OpenTX with BFPV2G4Micro1W as Mad shown on the video. Updated the module to the latest 3.2.0 and backpack 1.2.0 (btw, on the betafpv website they say the module supports only 2.0.0 and backpack 0.2.0 - strange). The lue v3 script hang on loading after the update. Does anyone experience the same? I managed to bind hdzero goggles with the module using bind option on the module itself. But I can't change settings via lue script on the radio as it is not loading...
Doesn't seem to be working for me. After updating everything, I've tried to bind my es24tx slim pro to the goggles, goggles just stay on "binding...." TX on my tango blinks "binding" on the screen for a few seconds before disappearing. They're won't link...
Love this "new feature" but i was using it 4 years ago with the original: TBS Cloud (Crossfire + Fusion + Unify) and then 3 years ago when DJI came out, they changed the game with simplicity...but DJI doesnt even call it a feature, it's just standard operating procedure....with out any complicated setup. Wish ELRS could make the process as simple as DJI, just bind VRX and VTX with 2 button clicks, feature enabled by default and standard.
sadly seems after doing this I can't get it to work because express lrs lua will obviously not work when your model is configured to use tbs crsf tx smh
@MadsTech Hi i have a important question in twitter you look for CPS533 5V regultor SMD 6pin part. My walksnail vtx this part was fried and i look for a supplement to repair the vtx. When i remove the broken part the short was away so i hope if i solder a new CPS533 in all is o.k but i dont know where to order it because i cant find it in the web...

Sadly no not on the goggles backpack. But there is the Skyzone with BP built in and others will likely have it soon too
It does work… if you have/put ELRS backpack on your analog module, I have accomplished this in the following ways:
1. the Happymodel Backpack or spare ELRS receiver on a Rapidfire and Eachine modules
2. with an ELRS Skyzone module (don’t buy Skyzone stuff)
3. and with a TBS Fusion module with the ELRS backpack firmware (fastest, easiest, and best analog module)
This has been my experience thus far with analog modules, I have been using backpack on analog since its inception.

Thanks! Found out there is a backpack wifi firmware fur the fusion. But does elrs support more than 2 backpack endpoints? You know that? Like hdz goggle and fusion module at the same time?

Not at the moment on most modules but Skyzone do have a new one with esp32 built in as well
@@MadRC So the esp32 is part of the internal VRX rather than being part of the goggles? No way for the same ESP32 to control either or?

If you have backpack enabled on your analog module, do you then need to turn it off on the hdzero goggle? Or does it work right with both enabled? Does backpack switch the goggle between analog and hdzero input automatically?
Crap looks like I'm going to buy a new set of goggles. I was already not feeling the 03. No way hd zero function, feature set and compatibility doesn't just keep getting better like betaflight, edge tx, elrs have.

Tbh yea your not wrong lol but FPV is full of faff. Once it’s setup it just works and really it’s not any more than setting up your receiver or anything else. MSP VTX is simple. As is ELRS Lua. It’s not that much work.
Depends on the use case and user. You'll like it when you're racing or flying with a bunch of people as I do who constantly step on your channels without warning. This makes your life much easier with only a little bit of setup before hand. If you fly alone or don't race there's no need to bother with any of this. But how awesome is it that you have a choice?!

@@tektkite7255 i don’t at all agree with that. Having a comms link between device is far from useless. This will lead onto being able to change channel via switch. Power output and lots of other things. It’s as useless as having WiFi or BT on an FC for config.
Btw, does this enable the option to have vtx output power on a switch as well?

@@MadRC @Jekle - As long as MSPVTX or SmartAudio is setup and working, BF can change the output power of the HDZero VTX with an Aux channel. The setup is documented on page 21 of the HDZero_VTX_UserManual_v0.5.pdf that can be found on the HDZero website.
vtx 0 2 0 0 1 900 1300
vtx 0 2 0 0 2 1300 1700
vtx 0 2 0 0 3 1700 2100
this maps a 3 position switch on aux channel 3 to adjust the vtx power level to 1 (25mw) when the aux channel is between 900 and 1300 range, the power to level 2 (200mw) when the aux channels is between 1300 and 1700 range, and level 3 (0mw) when the aux channel is between 1700 and 2100 range. For me, I have it setup a little different so my 3 position switch at its lowest is 0mw, then middle position is 25mw, and then highest position is 200mw.
This can also be used to change the band and/or channel if you want to use the row of momentary buttons on the TX16s.
