- I've realized that I place too much value in material things, and it's costing me a lot of inner peace and joy. So to tackle this issue head-on, I'm starting a new "Low Buy & Minimalism" series where I'll be sharing my journey to minimalism and a less-is-more lifestyle. To kick it off, I'm doing a MAJOR closet declutter. In this video I purge (AKA get rid of) over half of my existing wardrobe and organize my clothing so that it's easy to find!

I think the pandemic has helped show people that materialistic things aren't really that important and overconsuming might not actually bring you all the joy you think! i really hope to start adopting this more and change my consumer habits. Thanks for the effort you put into this

I never watch hauls any more. Seems such a waste and especially when someone gets rid of everything so they can buy more. I buy thrift from a great store and I’m very minimal compared to most people. Yesterday I got a nearly new Talbots T-shirt for 1.75. The land fill has too much and some countries won’t take any of America’s excess. I’m glad you came to this realization. Shopping is an addiction. I stay away from stores now. It is ok to keep the beautiful floral dress for special occasions, you’ve already paid for it, just remember to wear it and not buy new.

Just found your channel. I’m a lot older than you (42) but it’s nice to see you thinking about a more minimalist lifestyle. As a fashion blogger you could move away from fast fashion and make more sustainable quality choices in your clothes, shoes, handbags etc

Haley 💕 This is just what I needed. I’ve been struggling with a clothing shopping addiction - which only got worse when I had employee discounts and saw new trends constantly coming out when I worked retail - for 10 years now. I’ve also been so inspired by Styleapotheca’s ‘no buy’ series and haven’t bought anything in the past 2 weeks. It’s a tiny victory! I’d been buying clothes like every week during quarantine especially and realized how much money Id waste trying to collect more and more ‘trendy’ pieces than I could realistically wear or see myself loving long-term. So excited to see how your journey goes :)

The hardest part of sustainability or minimalism is when your style changes!! I feel like my style is changing a lot right now and it's so hard to know what I like and what I don't like/ what I'll actually wear! I'm definitely working on not keeping more than I need :)
Yes I'll have to think about this for sure! I feel like personally, my style has not changed too much over the past few years, I've just matured in the sense of knowing what looks good and works for me. I think minimalism for me means wearing neutrals and simple, classic pieces so that's what I'm building my wardrobe with. Hopefully you're able to find your personal style soon! xo

I am a minimalist and have 40 pieces of clothing. It is so easy to care for everything & I actually wear everything I own. It is also much easier to get ready in the morning!! It is also enough to get me through the cold prairie Canadian winters!

I feel like every year I get rid of color and printed pieces in my woredrobe ... I don’t by colorful pieces anymore with prints I need to work on my self control....

This is one of my favorite declutter videos on CZcams. I watch it every time I declutter. It reminds me to be honest with myself because I typically wear very minimalist style and colors but sometimes my wardrobe gets excessive anyways too.

Your room looks very clean. Its inspiring me to clean all the closets in my house.I was shopping a lots too before I try to remember myself the fashions styles and colors change all the time so why buying a lots of clothes.
Thank you! I try to keep it neat and tidy as it is my work space too. Sticking with neutrals definitely helps when shopping!
Well done Haley!! So epic to see you transforming your mentality on simplicity being the goal :) Wait till decluttering becomes an addiction and you end up getting it down even smaller. seriously I turned over 200 items into 40 in total! I love every single piece and getting dressed is so easy. A secret to owning less clothes in winter is buying some woolen thermals and nylon singlets to layer underneath everything, that way you don't need more tops etc. It's a secret that worked for me :)

My collection of stuff is the smallest it has ever been and it's life changing. I've got a good little collection of thermals too so I'm stoked to style winter clothes!!

Hey! Suggestion: instead of selling your basically new clothing that you get from brands, have you considered partnering with a high school student who is from a lower income background and giving them the clothing?

I so understand the two diffrent sides of you, I would love some land, I am 45 and was about your age when pretty woman was popular... especially the music to me. Social media, and excessive choice is difficult....there is so much stuff in the world, I love secondhand sustainability, sometimes even with small holes or other wear..... the utility and function of clothing is often under looked, eg....there are certain fabrics and brands, I no longer buy...for so many reasons. Shopping feels good but giving things a new person to love them feels great.

You’re welcome. Funny thing is videos such as yours move people to do the same, which is what I did. But then for my birthday a friend who is a fabulous thrift shopper and fashion enthusiast brought me over about 12 pieces, all washed and ironed gifted to me. 😩🤦🏽♀️😂

I have a pool and I go on vacation almost every year so I like to have different options! 🙈 But I definitely had wayyyy too many before I decluttered 😭

Not gonna lie, having the tops of the hangers be a mixture of silver and gold bothers me. It's probably mainly because it's not put away in a pattern though and not because they aren't all uniform
😂 that’s okay I agree! I usually have the gold out on the rack and then the silver inside my closet but I wasn’t too picky in this video 🙈
