I appreciate Kevin’s opinion about writers not needing to be fans of the genre. It’s very mature and I agree. Clearly someone needs to be on staff the make sure the writers do not create something way off base, but over all story shouldn’t be just fan service… or you get the 2nd half of Ashoka that alienates non-fans of the Feloni-verse.

The complaint about TV episodes being “filler” has been rendered almost completely meaningless at this point by how much people misuse that term.
There is no such thing as a filler episode when you’re spending time with your characters and seeing them learn and experience new things.
Stories are 99% characters and 1% plot. You can have the most mind-blowing, intricately plotted story ever conceived and if it’s not happening to characters you care about then it literally doesn’t matter at all, you may as well just read a Wikipedia article for the episode.
Wanting everything to be so rigidly devoted to endgame plot is just not what storytelling is about, there’s no emotion to that.

With Asajj back in Bad Batch my headcanon theory that Shin is the love child of Ventress and Quinlan Vos can actually be true.
If she ever appears in live-action, which she should, here are my casting ideas for an older Asajj Ventress:
    - Cate Blanchett
    - Uma Thurman
    - Angelina Jolie
    For a younger Asajj:
    - Evan Rachel Wood
    - Cara Delevingne
    - Margot Robbie (not realistic but had to mention)
    - Lauren Cohan (Maggie of TWD)
    - Anya Taylor-Joy (Queen's Gambit. My top choice for Ventress)
    - Sadie Sink (Max of Stranger Things)

@@LORDS.And.Hammers Cate was my first choice for an older Ventress.
Angelina would be great too but not as realistic and she'd be more recognizable than Blanchett who I feel would disappear into the role.
Anya would be the sickest. She has that intensity along with the perfect face and build where she looks like an animated character and Assajj Vetress already.

Mundi’s line of the sith not around for a thousand years is proven wrong by Yoda who says there are always two sith a master and apprentice.
Because the rule of two was created by Bane a thousand years ago after the sith war .
Bane realized they lost because if there are more than 2 sith they will be always fighting for power amongst themselves.
So the rule of two was created to reform the Sith snd help the grow in strength in the shadows .
Yoda would not know about this unless the Jedi ran into some Sith in the last thousand years and found out the new rules of the Sith .

Initially I too was a bit puzzled w/ the amount of time devoted to Hunter & Wrecker going on a bounty mission that has seemingly nothing to do w/ the rest of the season when the plot pieces it puts in play could’ve been achieved by other means. But then considered that they are disarming & combatting the dangers beneath the surface which parallels Crosshair back on Pabu… 🤷‍♂️
When they got on the space “swamp/bayou boat” I immediately thought of Heart of Darkness / Apocalypse Now also cuz of course George was originally gonna do Apocalypse in Cali for Zoetrope (Francis) but opted not to for a little project he was workin’ on about some space wizards…
It’s also worth noting that even eps like last seasons Faster & S1’s Infested that were derided as being egregious “filler” were later revealed to have set up things that came in to play down the road. Not to invalidate the point, just saying’…🤷‍♂️

My theory for how they could keep the cannon about the Sith being gone, is that you have a Sith manipulating things from the sideline. Perhaps turning some Jedi to the dark side but not getting directly involved in fighting the Jedi themselves; they remain hidden during the events of the Acolyte. The council never realizes there is a Sith pulling the strings, which is why they don't believe the Sith have returned. As far as I'm aware a Jedi that has turned to the dark side is not necessarily a Sith.

"Someone is killing Jedi"...it sounds like they are directly engaging Jedi in combat. I'm curious about this as well, but like a lot of canon things, I'm sure the new show will just gloss over it and do whatever they want.

If the timeframe of Acolyte is 50-100 years before TPM, could this be the story of Darth Plagueis or whoever becomes Sheev’s master?
Someone more knowledgeable might know, but Sheev struck me as being in his 50s or so during the PT? So, whoever trained him, Plagueis or otherwise, would likely have been around or come into their power as a Sith.
I know the canon is that the Jedi hadn’t seen Sith in a thousand years or whatever, but for Sheev and Maul to exist by TPM (oh, Frank just brought up Plagueis), the Sith and the Rule of Two had to have persisted unless the Acolyte or whomever maybe makes the discovery of the “old” Sith ways?
I’m looking forward to the series, but my only wish was, if anything, that this was more removed from the Skywalker saga timeline? It still feels like it’s setting up the fall to the fall of the Jedi (and republic) and I’m ok exploring eras and characters completely removed from PTOTST.

Trying to figure out where to squeeze in Plagus is ultimately a pointless task, because neither Lucas or Kennedy seem to care all that much. Re: Mother Aniseya, I found it interesting that there’s a scene in this trailer of her flanked by others w/ her arms at her sides w/ hands open, palms facing out. If one searches SWdtcm for The Path of the Open Hand (from phase 2 of the High Republic) & plays the Mother vid, the very first image displayed of her is exactly the same. 🤔... Direct or indirect reference 🤷‍♂️ but we shall see.... It’s also worth noting that Aniseya & Mae (Amandla) are both wearing purple.
The Acolyte may not be a Sith reference at all. Rather an Acolyte of the descendants of The Path of the Open Hand who foster/“rebirth” into the galaxy the Sith against the Jedi. Or something along those lines. 🤷‍♂️
Mae is derived from May (the month), which itself is derived from Maia, the Roman goddess of growth and motherhood.
Sol was also a Roman god/personification of the sun / the sun-god Apollo (god of light, truth, prophecy, etc).

Sadly I’m not in sync with you guys, I didn’t like the trailer, nothing to do with a female lead or anything like that. It’s just that I expected to focus more on her and on the dark side, and I thought that it was way too Jedi centric, which I don’t get with a show called Acolyte.
I hope the second trailer changes my opinion of the show, I’m gonna watch it regardless but I had a different image in my mind of what to expect from a show where the protagonist is related to the Sith. Star Wars had made some choices that I don’t agree with since Disney took over.
But it had to do with their scripts, Force Awakens was a simply copy/paste but the movie was fun so I didn’t care, the second one was ok, the last one I only saw one time. I love the first two seasons of Mandalorian and the first and last episode of the last season. Obi was a waste of time, so was Bobba. Andor and Rogué One are just out of this world.
And I have great hopes for Acolyte, but the trailer did let me down

@JohnRochaSays Just because I'm concerned about a potential break of canon does not mean I'm part of that hateful group of assholes. My criticism of Disney Star Wars has always been based on the technical aspects of what they've put out. And that's the majority of those who criticize by the way.
Please don't make the mistake Disney made when they lumped fans like me in with fans like those. That decision, & the fact that they still haven't stopped, is a large part of why Star Wars is damn near dead. People really need to stop doing that. It pisses us off.

Don’t YOU make the mistake of lumping the critical Star Wars fans with the mainstream fans who couldn’t give a shit about canon and just want to enjoy themselves. Those are the people helping these films and shows and merchandise make money.

@JohnRochaSays Come on John. We both know you're smarter than that. Bumblee was The Marvels of the Transformers world. A movie that was actually decent, but preceded by so much crap nobody cared anymore. And that's what's been happening with Star Wars. You can see it in the viewership on D+. The trailer views online. Likes & dislikes can't be trusted. All the numbers are going down. So yes. Star Wars is dying. They're not just losing the hait waters, whom we can definitely do without. They're losing core fans too. And when you lose core fans, the normies follow because we're not getting them hyped by virtue of our own hype. That's the bowl Disney as a whole is currently swirling down. That $6.5B doesn't tell the true story. The story that most of that was made before 2020 & the entire franchise has had slowly diminishing returns since that point. It's most definitely dying.

Not sure if the following is more appropriate for a Jeff Schneider podcast, but much of the pushback to The Acolyte stems from Leslye Headland’s prior stint as Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant. Despite there being no proof of her being implicated in any foul play, the assumption being parroted is that Headland facilitated his behaviour. It would be worth assessing these claims, especially via someone like Schneider.

2 easy ways to avoid breaking canon. All the Jedi die. Or the Jedi only see the Acolyte and not the master & the acolyte dies. Pretty simple. And if they can't achieve that, they would all need to go. Because they would be massively incompetent.

I just looked at the likes vs dislikes on the trailer. And it doesn’t look good for the show to say the least 😅

@zaywhitt502 certain Star Wars will hate anything because it’s Disney whether that’s fair or not and some CZcams channels get rage viewers on their channel to go dislike any Star Wars content it’s brainwashing/cult like behavior this type of behavior is expected at this point no matter what the quality is

@@Jeremy32MillerThe whole cult argument could be made against you for watching youtubers that are star wars shills. The same shills that refuse to state their actual opinions, out of fear of losing early access and being uninvited to early screenings. The fact of the matter is, SW is a dying franchise. It's lost millions of fans. People have had enough of the identity politics destroying franchises they love. Tens of millions of people went to watch the force awakens and now Disney can barely pull in a million viewers an episode, all in the short span of a couple of years. Unbelievable.

Pretty sure we got it. WB lets her have more control on 84’. For example Jenkins was very proud of the flying scene, but in DCEU Wonder Woman clearly does not fly in the present.

@@majorlazor5058 i want to let Patty Jenkins fly but the studios and $$$$ are holding her back. Patty and Ryan are the Alcatraz of SW ironically imprisoned in the Bay Area.

Its the fact that this isnt gonna be good By past evidence lol
The episodes are gonna be 22 mins long. This is a waste of time. This should be a movie or at least hour long. They are telling you its gonna be shit.
