    I came away really impressed by the BitBox. I think it's an excellent choice, especially for many of the cartridges from the second generation that don't typically get a custom case made for them. These types of thermoformed cases were much more common of their time, making it seem like a perfect fit stylistically.

    I wonder how well using an insert holder to secure the cart instead of a manual would work, that way the loose bonus fits could be a bit more secure.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 3 lety

      I'm sure you could make some kind of insert, out of foam perhaps, if you were inclined to do so. It's not a bad idea if you wanted to do a lot of those bonus uses.

      Thanks for checking out the video! I love Game Boy games and I've made a lot of different suggestions for cases for them. Just search "Game Boy" on my channel for some of my favorites.
      I've also shown the Shadowfox cases sold at Custom Game Case (dot) com. You may enjoy that video as well.
      Ultimately, you'll have to decide what the best choice for you is considering what you wish to spend. These extra products can certainly add up.

    Recieved a package with NES bitboxes just last week. They honestly feel like they could take much more of a beating than other custom cases.
    I'd love to see how you'd go about printing custom covers for these as an addendum to your previous video on the topic. The covers seem particularly large to me.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 3 lety

      That's a funny coincidence, huh? Lol. Yeah, the large covers are just over 13 inches long. You would really need US legal or A3 paper to accommodate that. But other than that, printing them would be the same as any cover. The provided covers were printed on card-stock as well. Some people would like to print their own, but a lot of people would rather just pay to have it done for them.

    It's neat, but I'm a bigger fan of customgamecases. I'm not a fan of the old vhs case style, which those old cases were always flimsy. Plus, the printing and manual holder is an upcharge. Meanwhile, custom game cases your purchase is the same price ($4.99) and ins built with those friction tabs like the DS case that hold the manual. Plus the case itself is built of the same or similar plastic as a DS case. They actually even have a new type to fit the bigger GBA and GBC carts, like drilldozer, warioware twisted, and gameboy camera. Every case comes with the print included, and it's high quality. Perhaps not as good as the print quality on official licensed products, but very good. Think a high quality repro cartridge print.

      I was just able to take a look at those new cases recently. They are all very nice. But I still found these to be better than I expected. Thankfully we have good choices.

    but...
    What case would you use for the Super Game Boy, maybe the bitbox Neo Geo case?
    I've asked stoneagegamer but I've not gotten a response...
    What would you recommend...?

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před rokem

      That is a good question. I didn't receive a Neo Geo case, but I'd imagine that's much larger than required. I just checked and the Super Game Boy *almost* fits in the NES BitBox, but not quite. The box gets deformed because the SGB is just a little too bulky. I'm pretty sure you could modify the box to make it fit with a few cuts but otherwise, it seems that BitBox doesn't have an appropriate case for the Super Game Boy.

  • @Beta464Original
    @Beta464Original Před 3 lety +1

    Not a huge fan of Bit Box personally, I find they stretch the art a bit too much for my liking, the spines are pretty rounded which causes alot of glare, making it harder to read from a distance and the size of them is just kind of awkward, they don't fit well alongside DVD sized cases and overhang off of some media shelves as a result. For me personally, I find it worth it to spend just a bit more and get the sturdier, more uniform and better sized cases from CustomGameCases.com for anything they offer, and Universal Game Cases for the rest. I like cohesion on my game shelves and this method works best for me :)

      I can definitely see your points and reasoning. I have taken a look at the Shadow Fox cases from CustomGameCases.com in a previous video as well, so people can get a good sense of what's available and decide what suits their collection best.
      And a quick FYI, rumor has it that UGC's are no longer being manufactured so you might find them harder to source for a good price.
      Thanks for the great comment and thank you for watching. I appreciate it.

    hey, i was just wondering if there was a convenient way to store wario ware twisted in a case of some sorts? i use a ds case like method at the moment but i know the game is obviously too large

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 3 lety

      From what I've seen, most people are forced to make their own custom case by reappropriating a case meant for another purpose. I recommend searching CZcams or the forums at the Cover Project for examples.
      I looked at customgamecases.com a few months ago. They are in preproduction for a new case type that is an over-deep DS style case specifically for WW: Twisted and rumble cartridges. But I don't know when these new cases will be ready for sale.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure of all of the measures they took to get the covers to fit these cases. Most obvious on the NES case is the addition of a Nintendo Entertainment System sidebar on the front and back, surely to help fill space. One could get the raw files and compare them to original art if so inclined, but I don't find them distorted enough to be distracting.
