    The vast majority of this video was captured with my new GoPro Hero 7 Silver. I shot in 4K for the first time, then compensated for the wide-angle and zoomed on the shots appropriately, finally rendering out at 1080p. I liked how easy it was to shoot. This might be my new preferred equipment for quicker type videos. Let me know what you think!.
    This latest game case was released in February 2020. If you have any questions, or if there is anything unclear, please let me know in the comments.

    Even though these cases didn't suit my needs doesn't mean they won't work for you.
    A couple of additional thoughts: I think these cases may be well suited for game sellers, be it used game stores or convention sellers to hold and show their product. Also, it would be nice if in the GBA case they had devised a way to hold the instruction manuals as well. There is plenty of room for them on the inside cover. Do you have any additional thoughts?

      Make a storage case for multiple Nintendo cartridges (GBA/DS/3DS/NS). I would love a multiple Nintendo hardware case for GBA onward systems. Store and organize GBA/DS/3DS/NS cartridges would be awesome. Especially GBA and Nintendo Switch cartridges in the same case together. I hope you like my suggestion.

    Thanks for showing these off. I would buy my entire library’s worth of UniKeep if they made the cases smaller, more in line with DVD covers or 3DS/Switch.

    I like to think it's because of people like you that products like this exist. Great video!

    These are pretty neat! I like the pseudo-see-through cover for the DS/3DS and Switch cases to see what's inside. Though I do also like that dual sided-feature too. Shame on their size but I like that you said they're already looking into alternate sizes. I agree that I would also enjoy a label to mark what's in each case, especially if having multiple cases on one shelf.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 4 lety +1

      I think these cases are probably the perfect thing, but for only a certain subset of collectors. But, ultimately, I can't knock their quality or value.

      Yes! Even though there are some aspects about the cases that weren't perfect for me, in my opinion they are really well made and reasonably priced. I hope that comes across in the video.

    I love the thought that went into actually making this a real product vs. the many DIY versions that exist, but am not a fan of the execution for a personal collection. I agree with you that these seem way more suited for trade shows/sellers, than for regular storage, or as carrying case. What disappoints me the most is the misuse of space. If the cases weren't intended to have both sides in use only, there should be less space in the front so that the games don't move around as much or at all when dropped. It's good that they remain in the case in general, but I would prefer they sit snuggly enough to not fall out at all. I also wish you could customize the front as you stated.
    The final thing I would suggest, for the smaller switch/ds/3DS style games: I made my own switch cart carrying case out of a replacement switch game case I bought. I removed the space for the manual and fit a custom foam insert inside. I was able to fit one piece on both sides, and it works perfectly. The games fit snugly, and do not move/fall out. It is a bit of a tight fit, so with the means: I'm sure a company could produce the same box, without the manual insert, slightly wider, and it would work perfectly as a carrying/storage case. The current ones on the market are either too big, too small, or of poor quality which is why I ended up making my own. I would love to see one with a happy middle on the market. A 3DS/DS case size for all those systems, like the club Nintendo one, would also be great for the switch/vita as well.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 4 lety

      So, from what I gather, UniKeep already makes cases in this size. What they are doing is finding new implementations for the cases that they already have the ability to produce. So they aren't going to be as perfect as a case created from scratch for a singe purpose, but I think they have made a decent set of adaptations. I hope that there is enough interest that they proceed to design new cases from the ground up. Their products are really well built, so if they do create something new, I'd be very interested in checking it out.
      I like your DIY solution. But as you said, in a perfect world we would have cases for all of these system of the same quality of the Club Nintendo cases.

    How am I just learning about these? It’s an amazing idea, especially for loose gba games. I do believe they do need to be the hight of a standard game case to more easily store, but this video did come out about two years ago so they could’ve already addressed that idea.

      That is my absolute favorite and I have like eight of them! There is an unbranded knockoff on Amazon. It doesn't have an out sleeve, but it comes in multiple colors. You can see them near the beginning of this video (czcams.com/video/zyiPKu8Pykg/video.html&t), with links in its description. Take care!

  • @tylertibbs158

    these are wonderful, but it would work so much better if they made them the size of their retail cases like they said they were going to do with the switch one. and since the gameboy one does not have retail cases maybe make one the size of a regular dvd case because it would go well in your gamecube shelf or something. but they should definiely make it thicker for better storage and double side compacity, something along thoes lines. but yea these look like just the start so they are definitely going somewhere good with this

      I agree, but you could make something like this yourself. Look for my Custom Memory Card case video for tips.

  • @TeruteruBozusama

    When the lite was released (and I wouldn't get one until 2 years later), I bought a transparent suitcase thingy that came with a carrying case with a dog on it, a small plush, cheap earplugs, a cleaning cloth, protective screens, styluses, and the best thing along with the case, a carrying case for the games. It could only carry 4 games and 1 stylus, and fits perfectly in the carrying case. But the inside of the game carry case there's this rubbery material which is perfect for holding DS games and much easier to take them in and out from than the club Nintendo cases!
    You know the card binder thingy in Hunter X Hunter? It kind of reminds me of the pages in it..! So I have wanted ever since I got it to make something like a mix of that binder and Penny's Computer Book (from inspector Gadget) that can store some games but also put games into certain slots and a screen will turn on and I can play/it'll at least show title screens..! It'd be a fun tool to check if cartridges work..!

      @Jarjarfunk Před 4 lety

      yeah I want them to have out sleeves as well so that I can print out custom artwork so that I don't have to open each case to know what games are in there also I'd like them to be this size of regular media cases

  • @moandaindesigns

    Nice video, Wish the would do Memory card cases for PS1, 2, gamecube, Dreamcast and other systems. The main theme should be make a case that can sit next to the games and not look out of place by being to tall or wide. Being thicker than a game case will be ok, but please follow the lead of the OCD gamers here UniKeep.
    @4:29 I see your Dropmix.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 4 lety

      I feel your pain. I think at this point, memory card cases would probably be too niche of an item for a company to expect to make money from. But I saw on your comment on Disk Cart's video that you've taken up a DIY solution to make your own. At some point I'd like to do that as well. If I do, would you mind if I made a video about it? And maybe you could recommend where I could get the correct foam?
      And yes, Dropmix in the bookcase, ready for any party! Thanks as always!

    They look good for mass amount of games or for games with missing cases. Personally I like to have my game in their own case for ds and 3ds the come like that so it's not a problem but GBA I would love to have a DS style case for them, where I can keep the manual with them. I've been using custom cases from Stone Age Gamer for a while now but their pretty expensive and im not huge of the built quality. The only other idea I've had is to use DS cases as older DS cases had a spot for GBA games. That's something I might start doing. The only flaw with that is printing out GBA artwork on them i'll have to shrink the image lowering the quality. Also im not sure GBA manuals fit inside of them. If they made smaller individual cases the size of DS cases that fits GB and GBA with a space to hold the manual that would be a dream. The only other thing I can see being a problem would be those oddly shaped gameboy games like the Gameboy Camera, Wario Ware Twisted, Drill Dozer or the GBC rumble games but individual cases for those specific games is pretty hard sell for most people.

    • @TopSpot123
      @TopSpot123  Před 4 lety +1

      Amazon has empty DS cases and if you buy them in bulk, they are pretty cheap. But then you have to worry about the case art and the GBA game manuals don't fit in unless you cut some parts out of the case.
      Check out customgamecases.com. I think they are exactly what you are looking for. The sell the blank cases, or for a little more you can buy the case for whatever game you want with the cover art already printed and inserted. They are more expensive than the bitboxes, but the quality is much higher. I'll be covering their products in a video soon.
      And yes, those poor odd shaped cartridges are left out.
      Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Check out my other videos for more Game Boy and Game Boy Advance tips.
