  • In a world where everything needs to be recharged, how do you keep things neat? And how to make it so that older devices are inviting to continue to use? Try takes a look at stands for everything from a Game & Watch to a WaveBird, and charging methods for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, 8bitdo, and more.

You should do home design for gamers. I think theres a huge market for that

That's cool idea, but with all the different building codes from county to county with my state of South Carolina alone for example it would be a lot of hassle for sure, as for example in my county we have very sandy soil so we can't build homes with basements for fear of the home could sink(I'm not joking or exaggerating as I'm looking at Jam Jacks for my home since it's starting to settle, and sink slightly), and to build a 2nd story home requires extra permanents, and regulations, so at least in my small town, most of the homes are single story homes. So yeah cool idea in theory, but not practical on a mass scale for anything more then a manufactured home(mobile home/trailer), and even those have some strict regulations in some states like the midwest due to tornadoes, etc.. which can add a lot of cost.

Great video, Try. This has always been something I've looked into as well. I'm glad you addressed the wobbly nature of the RCG stands because while I love them in concept, they're actually a little unreliable and fall apart often without some extra glue as you said.

I’ve heard for the nyko charge block, it largely depends on what kind of USB you plug it in. If it’s just two blocks or less, then you can use any wall USB, but if you add on more then you need to plug it into a 3.0 port for reliable charging. I got one for my PS4 based on this video & it’s awesome

I used a desk organizer with vertical slots for file folders for some of my portables. PSP, DS and 3DS fit in it ok, and I used some paperclips (the big ones you squeeze open) to fix the charge cables to each bay so they don't fall behind. Memory cards go in the post it note slot. It's sloppy but it works!

I have just recently redone my controller storage. I got a sturdy poster frame with perspex front (and a tetris poster) then bought the controller hangers (ebay). Drilled through the perspex, poster and backing board of the poster frame then attached the hangers with a short bolt and washer from the back and hex dome nut on the front. I have 16 controllers (wired) hung on the poster on the wall ready to go at any time. Getting some velcro for the wires has kept everything quite neat

Seeing stuff like this makes me so sad that almost my entire retro collection is currently packed away. It makes me REALLY want to play some of these old classics. I made myself a custom PC inside an NES (don't worry, found and imported one that was broken beyond reasonable repair, and that, on top of that was very yellowed and had a cracked casing, didn't want to sacrifice a good working one), so i can emulate pretty much my entire collection on that one system, with a variety of bluetooth and usb controllers, while everything is in boxes, and while that solution will have to do for now, and it does work fairly well, i really do miss having everything out and on display. :)
Anyway, great video, gave me lots of inspiration. Up till now i've just plugged in a cable for charging, but i can see that a solution like this, is much more practical.

I think I have a solution for the 8bitdo controllers. Use a phone charging station for 6 phones. They will hold 3 controller and have 6 ports for cables. The controllers stand on a nice a angle. Though make sure that the cables you're using is around 30cm. 20 cm is just too short to reach the ports. In theory 30cm should work, but I'm still waiting for them to come in the mail
For wii motes, use a cheap wii charging dock as a stand. The batteries are terrible, but the do work really well as a stand. They only cost $10 so it's fine. Also bonus, you get spare ac adapters
