Like all trivial “tips” videos, this one is filled with lies, starting with the thumbnail showing the post hole auger tool, which is nowhere in the video. I’m not an expert in some of the fields, but as a licensed aviation mechanic and electrician, I can point out some whopping big lies in the tips I know about:
    1. Putting a crimped S-curve in a wire to attach under a screw on an electrical outlet is not to code, and the crimp is tighter than the minimum bend radius allowed for the wire and will eventually fail, break away, and come into contact with other parts causing electrical arcing. This is extremely dangerous, it can start a fire.
    2. Using an improvised metal cup attached to a soldering iron to create a little solder pot, melting solder in this pot, and then dipping twisted wires into that to make a soldered connection is also not to code, and will fail as a soldered connection. To work correctly, a soldered joint requires that the wire be brought to the melting temperature of the solder. This joint heating is required in order for the solder to bond to the wire electrically and mechanically. This will not happen if you just dip the wire in molten solder. All you’ll get is a cosmetic coating of solder that does nothing in terms of electrical conductivity or mechanical strength.
    3. The several tips showing improvised conduit clamps made by using pieces of conduit sliced open to form an open jaw clamp is also not to code. Conduit must be attached using regulation metal straps, and attached at predetermined distances. The straps must be closed loop, not open loop. Otherwise you won’t have the full holding strength of the designed clamp.
    4. Using heat gun to bend PVC conduit into complex shapes for wiring is only allowed when you will obey the minimum bend radius of the conduit and the wire being enclosed in the conduit. The example shows extremely tight turns that will never pass any inspection in terms of bend radius. You would never be allowed to pull any wires in such a conduit, and the example of pulling a metal flex conduit through pvc conduit would never be permitted under code anyway, because it would exceed the temperature limitations of conduit containment.
Those are just the tips where I have expertise. I imagine other tips are equally stupid or dangerous, but how could you ever tell? The original poster lies from the outset with his false thumbnail promise, and then lies right through the video. The poster has the right to post such a lying video, but we also in the public have a right to call out the lies. Which I am doing now.
