      My Sitka cloud burst rain jacket is 100000% the best rain shell I’ve ever owned. Gore-Tex can’t be beaten

    The jetstream jacket is definitely not warm, it is definitely not water proof, but it is wind proof and water resistant, and i layer under the jetstream with the ambient jacket and a merino base layer and so far it has been golden. The jetstream is my go to jacket for an everyday coat. I like it.

    My biggest gripe with Sitka is their belt loops. I don’t understand how they have it so tiny. They need to have it bigger to accommodate all belts, not just the size of their belt. I don’t think anybody even uses their Sitka belt

      @outdoorempirecom  Před měsĂcem

      That's a very good point. No one wears or makes skinny little belts anymore.

    I bought my first pair of mountain pants in camo and they had the double zipper. A couple years later I bought another pair in the dirt color and it just had a regular zipper. I like the double zipper for when I'm wearing a pack because it's much easier to access. I don't have to undo the pack waistbelt

      @outdoorempirecom  Před 8 měsĂci

      Agreed on the double zipper/pack benefit. Weird about the different colors not having it. Thanks for sharing.

    The Jetstream Jacket is ok warm with a merino wool base layer as a 1-2 layer top wear. Down to 35° you will need a mid layer over night. Suggestion nothing cotton as your mid layer. It will compromise your base and hard shell.

      @outdoorempirecom  Před 8 měsĂci

      Thanks for the info. If I'm sitting still I get chilly with a merino base and Jetstream jacket by about 45, so I add a mid layer. But maybe that's just me.

    The core long sleeve is my next to skin piece that i wear for early seaon mule deer/elk or late rifle season. From there, I layer accordingly.
    The mountain pant and jetstream jacket are awesome pieces too. The jetstream is perfect for stopping howling wind from penetrating into your body as you stand on a ridgeline.
    Great video, man. Keep it up!

    The right tool for the job.. Infinium isn't rain gear; it's max warmth/breathability, so those negative reviews are moot. Break out the raingear/goretex pro when it rains.

    The jet stream jacket has the Gore wind proof membrane not the waterproof membrane

    • @outdoorempirecom
      @outdoorempirecom  Před 6 měsĂci

      Good point! Yeah it's the GORE Windstopper membrane and just has a DWR coating for water repellency. Definitely not a fully waterproof jacket.

    the only thing I would add about Base Layers, is that "Costco cheap" base layers are fine if they are designed to move moisture away from your skin - that is the key. Base Layers are the vital first link in the clothing system, to push moisture away from your skin and out to the outer layers. As long as you aren't wearing any cotton, and they perform like the typical "dry fit" materials, they will work fine.

      I also love the Core LW Base, and the Jetstream.... great products!! Windstopper is a must in either the mountains, or the tree stand!

      @outdoorempirecom  Před 8 měsĂci

      Very good points. My Costco base layers are indeed synthetic. And I also picked up some merino base layers to try out this year.

    Keep in mind people… your feet and head regulate body temp… so if you’re hunting in cotton socks with your hood off in the light rain. Well no shit you’ll be cold and blame a jacket.

  • @mr.robertson5387
    @mr.robertson5387 Před 11 měsĂci +1

    You shouldnt skimp on the base layer. Its like a building and the foundation is made out of sand rather than brick

    Lose that poisonous sugar in your diet, and that excess weight(fat) that you have mentioned several times will no longer be hanging off your carcass.
    Sugar's dangers are well covered in Dr. Berg's youtube videos.
