  • Nothing will ruin a good hunt like being cold and wet or having the wrong gear. Having good hunting cloths matters. I chose to spend my money on Sitka Gear, but the brand is far less important than finding what fit you and your style of hunting. All the major brands have very similar gear and layering systems.
I am 6 foot tall and 195 pounds, below is my gear and sizes for your reference.
    Pants
    Sitka Ascent Pants 35T
    Sitka Apex Pant 34T
    Sitka Traverse Pant 34T
    Sitka Mountain Pant 34
    Prana Stretch Zion 34x34
    Tops
    Sitka Core Lightweight XL
    Sitka Core Heavyweight XL
    Sitka Ambient Hoddy XL
    Sitka Mountain Jacket LT

One plug for non-camo pants are the Wrangler Outdoor pants. Stretchy, light weight, I’ve worn the same pair for 2 seasons now, just picked up another pair this year but haven’t even worn them yet because I’m still using the old pair.. but they’re $20 at Walmart and you just can’t beat them imo.
I’m a huge Sitka fanboy and have a ton of their gear but those Wrangler Outdoor pants are perfect for a lightweight and stretchy, solid pant.

I’ve been branching out and buying different brands to use this year other than my normal Kuiu gear and have found that I really like Stone glacier’s clothing, it’s pricey and I feel Gucci wearing them but with their LEO and veteran discount it’s right on par with all the other brands as far as price goes.

Stone is Gucci 🤣. I love the pack I have from them. I’m probably going to get a piece or two this year to try myself. Shading toward base layers

How has the durability been like with the Ambient? I’m not so much worried about busting brush, but more concerned about wear and tear from wearing a bino harness and pack? Thanks

I’ve got both Ambient hoody and jacket. I carry in a LWCG treestand on all my hunts. Both hoody and jacket have light creases at the shoulders from the stand shoulder straps but there’s no pilling or tears and I don’t see them doing that any time soon. If I had bought them in a pattern instead of solids I’d probably never noticed the creases. Ambient is a phenomenal mid layer. They’re instant warm when you put them on and even in instances where they were probably too warm to wear into a stand location or hike, I’ve never overheated in them. Using the hood on the hoody, I haven’t had to use a beanie down into the 40s because the hood regulates so well. Can’t say enough good about the Ambient.

What Sitka pieces do you find yourself not utilizing as much as you thought you would when you purchased them initially? I know I have a few.

Pants. Honestly I could do all the hunting I need in the Apex pants and a pair of the Prana pants.

@@jeffcordero_ I could see that. I have the Sitka Apex and Mountain Pant in Sub Alpine and I go back and forth between the too. I recently picked up a pair of Kings XKG Ridge pants in Khaki too. I’ve been testing those and might honestly run them this year. My main beef with the Apex and Mountain pant is the pocket set up. The cargo pockets are good but the front and rear pockets( or lack of) drives me nuts. I end up with my cargo pockets full of crap jingling around. Hands down my favorite pair of pants are the Wrangler “Outdoor Zip Cargo” pant that you get from Walmart for $26 in solid colors. I can hunt, scout, and fish in them. Or wear them around town without looking like a goof in camo. They’re a nylon/spandex blend and breath real well and dry super fast and are super comfortable. If someone copied that design and beefed them up a little bit that’s all I would buy. If Sitka put there logo on them they’d get $150 for them all day😂

I agree, that's why I don't get vids l like this, I mean no one gives af what you wear, lol. he's just trying to show off. yeah I get it it dude you are rich. oooh look I wear sitka I am cool! lol. but Walmart gear does the same thing and scent control is key. hell you can wear a nike hoodie and as long as you scent control you will harvest animals. or you can be a douche and buy sitka w the rest of the frat boys and walk around thinking you are a billy badd ass wannabe hunter.
