- I was never a fan of the old Bentley Continental GT so the question is, can this new model change my opinion ?
Thanks to Bentley Hampshire I got to drive one for the day and oh my days what an impressive car ! One of the fastest 0-60 times I have done yet !

I love it.... not a trace of grey plastic in sight. I think the big Bentley GTs have always been wonderful cars, we all love lightweight track heroes and cars which offer affordable fun, but if you want to crush continents and cover huge distances in refined speed and comfort, you can't beat a Bentley!

Another Great video, certain colours on certain cars look amazing and that blue does look great on the Bentley but I’d have an Aston Martin DBS any day once the sale of both my kidneys comes through 🤔😝

Great review as always Peter!! - I'm with you on the bling factor, love the leather and walnut and yes that piano black is always going to show marks etc... but the chrome??... way too much and not for me... I'm sure Liberace would have loved it lol, without being disrespectful at all!!! - But hey what a motor overall love it!!!

Well...you can be sure that anybody that owns a Bentley is very rich and has no issue at all with fuel.
This is actually the first Bentley that I can genuinely say its a good looking car.
I spent more than an hour driving the original and was completely impressed by the performance and comfort.

A friend of mine has the old model GT in his collection and even that had a real feel of luxury about it. This one looks to have improved on that further still.
I like the colour, that blue really suits the car. No pops and bangs like ruby though 😉

Great video and I did like the Bentley apart from it having too much chrome. I have just watched a new Chris Harris video where he drives a MB S63 Coupe and wondered if you had driven one and if you had, how you thought it compared with the Bentley. Thanks.

I love this new generation Continental GT and that dashboard is simply fabulous! This is grand tourer to waft in when you want, then fly when the conditions allow. For me, this is the pinnacle of motoring.

well you have to remember there is an awful lot of audi/Porsche in a Bentley especially once you drop the W12 even that is a VAG unit. I used to have an Old S8 with the V10 NA and found it hard to justify to myself why you would buy a bentley, having said that it is a magnificent car, and the interior is to die for.. the rest is mostly VAG parts bin....
What about the rearview mirror housing? Looks plastic but could also be leather

Very nice car. The only thing I'd change from that spec would be to get rid of the quilted leather as I hate quilted leather. As a GT for taking the Nationales through France down to the Med, it would take some beating.

Love the colour...as in LOVE THE COLOUR!!! Interested to know how much the Grey one you were parked beside goes for. What is it like driving out of the dealership and along some of those winding roads with cars coming in the opposite direction? It seems its an acquired taste for the interior and people with the sort of money who buy these have poor taste...no offense...but the average joe wouldnt be going for this. Ive seen various reviews of this now and it is all impressive...but...if i had £160k would i be putting it down for this...probably not...did i say i LOVE THE COLOUR????? Mate, I'd have that car in a New York minute. I'm 72 and absolutely love the Bentley brand. The pups might love the rear seat for a bit of a ride! Sorry, I do like the "bling" of the Conti-GT.

Wonderful and tomorrow when my lottery numbers are confirmed, I will be ordering plus a Bentayga for day to day work. I’m thinking maybe Thunder for the paintwork and Cricket Ball for the leather with porpoise secondary and Eucalyptus wood. Naim is a certainty and massaging comfort seats with active head restraints. I would go for the bright interior finishes as I like it to look a bit special but the exterior grilles would get Matt silver lowers. If I get it or rather when, you can have another ride!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎

Forgive me for saying, you keep repeating yourself. Use a template, which you could use for any car, one which flows. My experience of Bentley will be more useful than the bling falling in love period you describe. I had one brand new in 2006. £130,000. Took it up-to 190 mph on the autobahn. Out dragged a 911 turbo. It just sat there in top gear pulling like a train, with more left to come. However, 4 years later, and only 18,000 miles on the clock it came time to let it go. The dealership, who maintained it for me, offered just £43,000! That hurt. It felt like theft. During the excitement of buying, it never occurred to me these would depreciate like no other car. Absolutely shocking. It’s not as if mine had high mileage. They are way over priced. They never appreciate. They devalue rapidly, almost as fast as they accelerate. I agree very well done well made .. though. But you do feel done in no time. My loss was £93,000! The thing is the salesman knew this would happen. More fool me. My advice buy a low mileage 3 or 4 year old one and smile all the way to the bank. So in conclusion, don’t buy a new Bentley unless you have more money than sense.

Funny what you first said about your feelings towards the first CGT. Impressive interior, but something about the exterior styling that didn't sit right with me either.
When you opened the boot, I was half expecting to see both Pooch and Pup inside :-))...
Even though it's certainly a good looking car, both inside and definately outside, and damn fast, it's too conspicuous for my liking to buy. And to many pro football players have them too.
Give me a fully loaded Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe or BMW M5 over this car any day!! I can't recall that you've tested either... YET!!
I've done the M5 a couple of years ago, but not got behind the wheel of the AMG GT. Need to sort that out 😂

I couldn't help noticing that the rotating center display did not match the finnish on the left hand side of the dash. It may have just been the camera, and this may have been a pre production car, but I doubt a dealership would have one of the press fleet.

It looks great, love the interior and the gadgets but for me, a nagging doubt it’s a VW underneath, albeit Audi.....Skoda etc. Doesn’t seem to get mentioned in too many reviews where as Jag were slaughtered for the xType and Rolls Royce for the old seven based Phantom
There is a lot of VAG in this car for sure, especially the steering wheel and MMI, however it's as far from a VW or Audi as you ca get 👍
If I had that kind of money it would be the go too daily driver. I even like the early ones, you can pick those up for lemonade money compared to what they were new, deep pockets required, which is true of any luxury brand. Assembly by a British work force in a place renowned for rail and road excellence, what’s not to like.
Depreciation is a big challenge if you are thinking of buying new 😳

The chrome on both inside and outside is just too much, old school Caddie like. That said, looking at that beautiful gray model at the dealer, looks like you can opt to replace the chrome. Sad that the Petrol Pups did not get chance to review the Conti.
The de-chromed models look mega. I was so tempted to put the dogs in the back 😂

I drove the Continental GT for a couple of hours and an hour later had the AM DBS Superleggera for a couple of hours. The Bentley is an amazing car with a fantastic interior but dynamically is like a carthorse in comparisson to the Superleggera. So much so, I don't believe they should be compared as cars in the same category.
I'd have a DBS over the GT too but I have to say I think the GT is far more approachable for the average driver. They have the same 900Nm torque but the four wheel drive on the GT makes it so usable 👍
I can agree with you on the 4WD side but the Superleggera made me feel alive. I'm currently saving like a mad thing. BTW great real world content.

@@PetrolPed Well, maybe, but it doesn't appear on the configurator page, everything is hide. So it would have to be a custom order.
Always think it's such a waste cars that fit virtually useless rear seats, especially if they're beautifully made. As you said the GT seats good for small children and storage..also in Porsche, Ferrari a few others.
How about shortening the wheel base? Bring back the rear 'bulkhead', save weight chopping out 2ft of body panels, subframe, all that rear seat and trim, and the reduced cost (presumably). 'They' make LT's and LWB's, how about building ST or SWB variants (if that's not a swear word ;)...lighter, better power to weight etc, handling?.. I'd be interested as an option, I mean most people aren't looking to put their families into these...i dunno what have I missed?

For nearly half the price, you get an station wagon, which accelerates just as quickly, has a top speed of over 200 mph from the factory. The quality of the skin is in Rolls Royce quality. A BMW Alpina, almost without bling-bling.
