    Hello David, Thank You for all of your efforts. I have read the previous posts and I am really looking forward to the “15 Button” layout “modification”. So here is another “plug” to help motivate you to complete the new 15 button layout. I was going to try the 32 and try to “mod” it myself, but I got confused just thinking about it LOL! At any rate, thank you again, and keep up the great work, you’re an Inspiration!

    Great content by dude. I’m a teacher who’s getting into streaming and this is gold!!! The installation process is really convoluted and I guess I need to learn more foundations before adding a stream deck to my workflow. I’ll master my ATEM Mini Pro first before trying to do both the ATEM and Stream Deck. It’s really powerful stuff and can help ease the workflow greatly. But first, foundations!!! :)

    I am doing the setup now. As I do not yet have any StreamDeck hardware, I am just running the software and an IPAD emulation to get used to everything. Seems that the Elgato Streamdeck software will only show the 15 button layout, but not the one for the XL ?

    @David Joshua Ford - Amazing work you've done here. Thank you for your efforts. I have a question: I own the medium sized Streamdeck (15 button, not 32). When I load up the full profile backup, a new device is created in the Streamdeck app (Streamdeck XL) and all the correct buttons and profiles show up in the app. This is great, but not usuable (yet) as I have no XL. I am able to import the individual profiles directly into the medium-sized Streamdeck device, but they don't show correctly (obviously, smaller surface) AND they don't behave the same way. (ex. HOME button takes me to "default profile", not HOME profile)
    Is there an easy way to adapt the XL settings/profiles to work with the smaller Streamdeck? (I know it would have less functionality, because less buttons)
    Thanks again for creating these profiles and making all the pieces work together. I can't wait to try it all out once I can get my hands on a price-gouged XL. (Now running ~$600. MSRP = $249.99)

    • @davidjoshuaford
      @davidjoshuaford  Před 3 lety

      Hey there - yes I have similar problems within SD's native software when I import to 15-button. All the menu buttons jump to the wrong profile, so I've had to go through manually and retarget them. I've had so many people asking about the 15 button layout, I'm considering adapting the 32 layout into a 15 button layout when I get the time. And you're correct - the 32 SDs are a crazy high price at the moment. It would be good if Elgato could update their app to include a 32 button layout for the iPad (or even phone too). Regarding Companion adaptation, seems like you already have the gist of it, but there's a graphic at the bottom of my page showing how to adapt 32 button layout into the 15 or 6 button profiles davidjoshuaford.com/production/companion/

    HI David, I was very excited to give this a try, but maybe the installation has changed in the past year? I cannot get the Stream Deck XL to preview the buttons. The restore from backup does not work at all, as the sample file has an ending of "companionconfig" and not streamDeckProfilesBackup. I downloaded the 14 day trail and wanted to take it out for spin first. After I saw the first video I was so exited that I almost ordered, but when I stepped through the video, nothing worked. I also looked at your on-line instructions which are very different from this video. It got me part of the way there. Are there updated instructions? Is the latest version of Companion incompatible? It was built using a Mini Pro ISO, so everything will work for the Mini Pro as well. And correct- you don’t actually need a stream deck. You can run the emulator on a computer browser. Best results are on the computer- for instance, sometimes long-pressing an iPad web browser will bring up the contextual menu instead, but a computer click is flawless.

      Hi Mike, I have a Teradek Cube 755. It encodes an HDMI or SDI video signal into H.264 or H.265 so you can view it on a laptop or tablet. I'm hesitant to recommend it though, as it runs $2000-3000 and I find it finicky and some of the apps suck. Not too bad on iOS. I have a love/hate relationship with Teradek... The best device I'd recommend is the Teradek Bolt series, as there's no latency and the signal is generally more reliable/ less dropouts (note that the Cube and Bolt are completely different tech). I also have an Accsoon gen 1 which was amazing for the money, but I didn't want to have to run devices on a separate wifi network so it sits in the bag and only comes out if I want a super low-profile monitoring device to travel with as back up but will unlikely use... There's a gen 2 Accsoon Cineyes you could check out. Also I know a lot of people like the Hollyland Mars series, but I haven't tried it. The other thing I do is use a CamLink4K to feed the Multiview into the computer to view locally or send over Zoom. It's simple and effective at what it does.

      @@davidjoshuaford yes, I had to manually toggle some of the "Change profile" buttons to work as expected. Indeed, I just wondered on Profiles vs Folders to organize contents. For example, I created a custom group to control my lights. Should it be a profile? Should it be a folder? I am still not conviced on what is the best option for grouping.
      With folders you get for free the "Up to previous level button". I need to experiment more with your setup to figure out the best option :)

      @@davidjoshuaford As I was preparing another group, I just realized that once you import the whole backup, most of the profiles remap the "Switch to profile" to the ATEM profile. That was what confused me the most yesterday.
      As you switch profiles, you need to remap the common profile switcher area in every single profile to the correct one. In my case, even the home button was taking me to the ATEM profile!
