Josh!! Awesome. I've watched serveral vids on Companion and Stream Deck. I get the concept but putting it all together is certainly different. I really appreciate your very eloquent communication. Very helpful. Thank you so much
Happy to help! Let me know if you need any more specific help on anything!
Man you just made that description super simple, and I won't lie, my techy brain started figuring things out. Where was this video just Saturday night? Sunday morning was... well it's over now lol
Thanks man! Sorry it came too late 😂
Love these videos man!
Thank you! Glad they've been helpful to you!
Thnak you for this tutorial! This is my passion too 🤗
Thanks for watching!
Streamdeck is extremely handy and a worthy investment, but not the cheapest option. Touchportal will run on any Android or Apple device. So an old phone or tablet, or a $60 Fire tablet works great!
Touchportal will control OBS, ATEM, PowerPoint, OpenLP... It's a budget-friendly Steamdeck substitute.
Nice!
great video!
in general I don't recommend using the web buttons if your device needs access to multiple pages, as the paginator does not work (as of 3.0.1)
I suggest just creating an emulator under Surfaces, and using that on your phone/tablet!
That works great, but be aware that that emulator is shared between all devices using that emulator, so if you f.a. change to page 3 on one, every device using that same emulator will also go to page 3.
If you don't want that behavior, just create a new emulator per device!
I am using this amazing tool as a replacement for a streamdeck to control my OBS and Spotify in an online-only home production setup for basic esports events.
And as I don't have a streamdeck, my phone is perfectly fine using the emulator! I just add the web page to homescreen so I can open it up as if it's an app!
That's good to know! Good tips!
Thanks for the video. One question. Can you create a folder button by using companion (similar to folder button icon when using SD software) ?
I don't believe you can make folders, but you can create all sorts of different pages, and have buttons that jump to specific ones. So effectively the same!
Thank you.
I owned the atem mini pro, then the pro iso, and now the extreme pro iso. I tried the companion & stream deck and it connected well. BUT during some playing with it to get used to the stream deck, actually my atem crashed and got stuck. I had to take power off it to get it working again. That had never happened before and that is the most important thing I like to prevent. I record theatre plays and the atem recording without trouble is more important then any side equipment. So I sold my stream deck right away and ditched compagnon from the software controlling computer. No more stream deck remote control by me :) I would not advice companion connecting to the Atem if reliability is your number one priority.
That's definitely a bummer! Not sure why companion would have caused that though 🤔 I've had nothing but success with it! Weird!
I, too, have had no issues with Stream Deck and Companion.
Don’t you want to upgrade to Companion v2.4 or 3.0.0 stable version?
Honestly I didn't realize until I made this video that I needed to upgrade! Like I said, we've been using it a while and it's been rock solid, so I hadn't realized haha it's on my to-do list though!
Where can I join this slack channel?
Can you do a Raspberry Pi tutorial?
There's not a whole lot to what we do with it, what are you hoping to see?
@@budget-church-livestreaming the process from buying to running companion. I’ve never heard of these until your video, so I’m curious how to set it up!
@@joshcapatch4368 oh okay! I can definitely add that to my list of video topics, thanks for the idea!
