I too have the USB C issue. I’ve reached out as well for a firmware update to hopefully make it work. I’ve seen mixed results with others. It works for some but not for many. Bummer because other than that, the unit seems pretty solid for my needs.

We got the pyro H to upgrade from our mars 300 pro. And the image quality is so much worse. Less detail, pixalated, and just a disappointment. We might go with the teradek ace 750 for just $400 more. Thoughts?

This all looks very good until you try to use this software on less powerful computers. I tested this software using a Lenovo T480 with an i5 processor running W10. It wasn’t a very good experience; it felt like the interface was really sluggish. It freezes all the time, and when you play a music video, the audience preview is delayed. The most interesting thing is that those who will use this type of software are churches that have a small budget. So it makes no sense to expect this software to be used on high-end computers.

2024 PSA: For those who can, use the web installer. (Using Chrome) The process is WAY simpler and no need for Arduino. For some reason I kept getting error messages with the Arduino process, but had zero difficulty with the web installer 🙌🏼 It’s kind of crazy how well these work and how they have zero latency 🤯

Wow this is by far the most sophisticated approach yet. We've just been writing a course on live camera production, and have come to the conclusion that having a Tally system is the absolute minimum a team need for communication. Our other solution if there's one controlled camera, is to send a feed from the multi-view to a screen for them to monitor, but that's a lot of cables, equipment and messing about, and far less intuitive compared with your solution here. Thank you so much for this Video. Did this process in 2024 and the install process is now so much better, click click click and walla, software is installed. Its so smooth. I love the new process. I would recommend everyone to do this for cheap tally lights. We also used a 430 ohms resister and its working perfectly. You are very inspirational sir.

I have been using mine for four years and they are brilliant, I have tried many other brands and these are great, but I do need to go outside the church a lot, as I mainly do funerals but only want to take a lightweight camera, not my broadcast unit and sound gear was thinking of trying the new dji system even though it has four frames of latency, would still use my Ace system as well.

I'm sure this is a great facility but Windows 11 won't let me download it.

Interesting the CZcams integration seeing that playing CZcams vids in public goes against their terms.

Can you please recommend motorized pan & tilt heads for a good budget if you want to remote controll normal cameras? Seems to me that it would be cheaper to just buy a DJI Ronin 4 for 600 Dollars rather than spending 2000 Dollars on all these high end pan & tilt heads :/

Edit: I misspoke towards the beginning of the video when I stated annual prices for ProPresenter. It is $400 for the first year, and $189/yr to continue getting updates ($1000 and $469/yr for the campus license). Thanks to everyone who pointed out that misstep, and sorry it took so long to put this comment here addressing it. I'll try to research the exact pricing a little more closely next time!

Great honest review (rare these days) I mean probably don't expect any free Hollyland products haha but props for the actual facts. I agree you get what you paid for and Teradek are industry standard for a reason. You need to make a best of budget wireless video transmission, being in a stage environment your have the ability to build a controlled set of contrast, colour, and distance. Put all these "pro" wireless companies on notice!

Did you contact Hollyland about the picture quality issues and your problem getting the USB C on the receiver to work?

Pro presenter license is a one time purchase of $399, with an optional ongoing support and update option at a decent price. I’m the pastor of a church plant with about 30-40 people, and we’ve prioritized this cost in our budget. You’re also not including the context that to unlock ProPresenter’s feature set in Pro6 cost over $2,000, which is not palatable for most smaller churches. Now, you can get Pro7 FULLY featured for $400, and it would take 10 additional years before you match the total investment of Pro6. Appreciate your perspective, but please don’t mislead people away from proven, tested, software with half-truths.

I used to use Pro Presenter in our Church but like most companies Christian or NOT - THEY GET GREEDY - 400 A Year? - Rent Software? PURE GREED

One stressfull moment with our stream was when a Windows bluescreen error poped on the PC that was handling lower-thirds, but because the atem was streaming on it's own it wasn't so bad.😅 It just took forever to be able to retart the PC

Hi Josh, just was watching some of your older videos and coming back here for more wisdom and knowledge. Like I said in our previous message exchange, we were working with miscellaneous of Sony cameras (1x HXR-MC2000, 1x FDR AX53, 2x A6000 +16-50mm and 1x CX330) so we wanted to upgrade to Lumix. Meanwhile we already bought x2 G80's and I'm now looking for lenses... After coming back to this precise video for wisdom, I have one question... Do you recommend to buy lenses that have a maximum value of f2.8 ? Or could we still go slightly higher than that ? Our church's stage is well lit (in my opinion) but it's still not bright day light... Thanks once again for your great work, you have inspired us to do even better. God bless.

@josh with your capability of woodworking you could rebuild and use rack hardware as well to be able to securely mount things like your switcher and the ethernet switch/ router you could make a patch panel on the back reducing direct stress on your gear connectors i do like the fact that you were able to create a budget conscious solution that is also very functional and as you said it is DIY so you can modify as you see fit! as you pointed out @ 0:42 the cost to purchase is outrageously high but you can actually build these for a fraction of the cost, although as i am sure you are aware it will be more than your current cart!
