Considering that Nintendo hired Rockstar (formerly DMA Design) to develop a Kirby game around the same time as _Grand Theft Auto,_ of all things, then imagine the canon where Kirby ate all of Big Smoke's order.

I feel like Rockstar is too fixated on GTA these days
Since Kid Kirby, a lot has changed about Kirby's age. More so, while Kirby: Right Back at Ya! isn't at all canon (It features Dedede *dying* from being turned to ash, at the end of its final episode.), a good amount of elements from the anime have carried into the games as I've discussed before.
At least in the anime canon, Kirby's species is immortal, living for hundreds of thousands of years. Meta Knight explains all this by saying that Kirby was born 200 years too early. Meta Knight is biologically a thousand or more years old, while Kirby is some amount of hundreds below a thousand. Since there is no confirmed age for these characters, or any equation of Kirby species years to human years, my point is that Meta Knight is mentally in his 20s or older, while Kirby is mentally a baby.
Which means that, if Kid Kirby ever happened... It wouldn't fit in with the canon that exists for Kirby.
they should just update his design to be a smaller version of modern Kirby then.

Despite his instincts for heroics (and violence), Kirby's mental age is that of a baby. You can't make someone younger than that... unless that Kirby game starred a completely different hero.
Say, maybe a prequel with Meta Knight when he was Kirby's age.

It would have been awesome to get more SNES games that used the mouse. It worked so well for Mario Paint I was sure they would keep it going, but they basically seem to have decided it was a one-time gimmick, which was really disappointing. It felt like a lot of wasted potential.
Mario Paint itself seemed like something they would continue but didn't. I doubt a new Mario Paint could have saved the Wii U, but it seemed like a no-brainer to try it as a showcase for the gamepad functionality, which they crammed into other games so clumsily. Missed opportunities all around.

The irony that rockstar made almost made a game of kirby which is the most innocent thing i can imagine is hilarious
