- Wario World is described as a fever dream to most that grew up playing it. A poorly marketed title with a mysterious development story. As the first and last mainline 3D Wario title, what can we uncover about it? What is Wario World about? And did it fail? Let's dive into it.

It’s been 16 years since the last Wario Land title. 😬
Yeah, we have WarioWare as Wario's current main series, and Pizza Tower has been filling up that Wario Land hole in the world... But it's never truly going to be the same.
Dude I love your sense of humor, absolutely had to subscribe
Nintendo needs to be like Brent (King of Skill) and PICK WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHRRRIIOO!!!
dude i had a heart attack when i noticed the comment in the first seconds was mine lmao, i'm glad you made a video about this hidden gem, keep making good stuff man, love ur stuff.
You should check out another smaller channel, GambadoGaming. He's got an even deeper dive into this game (around 45 mins) among other content, it's a really similar channel to this one.
It feels kind of wrong to mention someone else's warioworld video on this one, but I don't mean anything by it. More content is always great lol, this video is great as well
It’s all good. Gave him a little shoutout in the first few seconds. I recommend him too. Much deeper dive into the actual game itself
@@TheMentok Oh cool I didn't catch that. Love your stuff man 👍
@@TheMentokyou are awesome man.
As a child I loved Wario games, as an adult I like weightlifting, liver and garlic, so clearly he had an influence
Wario World is not only my favorite Wario game but one of my favorite games ever made. Thanks so much for giving it some much-deserved attention!
Well at least folks can say this game is short and sweet, it doesn't overstay it's welcome.
I'll take too short over tedious padding any time (yes I'm talking to you, Ubisoft).
Old Manuals are so cool, especially when they give fun tidbits about Daisy (best character obviously)
They really should remake Wario's woods but make it a plant-potting game with Daisy
@@sboinkthelegday3892 I would unironically play that game until it melted.
@@sboinkthelegday3892You're having me think of how cool it would be for there to be a game where you see that Daisy owns an elaborate magical greenhouse that acts as a pocket dimension to different connected dimensions where different types of plants grow. (The greenhouse would act as an interesting constrast to how she lives in the dessert.) Those dimensions got invaded by some sort of evil fungus or something of that nature and that she has to go tend to those environments. I think that's something that could translate well to a puzzle game.
I think this would fit Daisy's character well, too, considering that I've often gotten the impression that she's the sort who doesn't mind getting her hands dirty and ties into how she likes the outdoors.
@@justmeherethereandeverywhere omfg I would LOVE that
In regards to videogame manuals, I must've read the F-Zero GX manual well over 200 times. Just having that extra info on the racers was a nice touch to an already superb game.
Hellz yeah, it was so fun to read!
When I was a kid, I loved reading game manuals for this sort of reason: I had taken notice how they often explicitly included character details and plot elements that weren't mentioned or blatantly present in game. I was confused at how none of my friends who played games did this.
The Mario world is one insane place to live with all the monsters and ancient demons
Dude I’ve played the Japanese version with the improved final boss.
Most underrated content creator fr
Wario world its a awesome game i hope it gets re released in newer consoles, also another spin offs games like wario world with luigi and waluigi would be awesome
Or a sequel. Hey, i can dream alright?
@@derek-64 of Course, i have many dreams too
I love Wario World!
I played this game via a Blockbuster rental.
This game deserved better.
I think the theme of world 3 is mountains. Snowy mountain, climbing up a mountain with beanstalks, and lastly a volcano on a mountain top.
Legit just found out about this game from King of Skill as he just uploaded a video playing it 22 hours ago.
I would like to hear about some manuals, please.
7:09 these challenge rooms of the game always reminded me of a fever dream version of Mario sunshines floodless levels
This is SO good!
It’s funny that you made a video on this game because King of Skill released a video the other day playing it. He’s known for collabing with big Smash CZcamsrs and doing Mario Party videos.
I support it. Every year that goes by I think of a game that deserves to be talked about
7:05
i got a rush of dopamine from seeing dynamite headdy, that game is underrated as hell
Man I played the shit out of that game in Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3. One of their best compilations to this day
@@TheMentok wanna hear something funny

@@TheMentoktranslated japanese is the best way of experiencing it ngl
why did the us remove the boss dialogue.
Great video man! I totally forgot about this Gamecube title, they had so many hidden gems and I still have mine to this day. (Phantasy Star 1-2 online was my favorite for gamecube) Wario's bosses have a very unique character design from most of his games indeed
A lot of hidden gems on GameCube I’d love to cover after playing this one recently!
There's also this one guy who's posting daily in hopes of a Warioworld 2 being announced
2:36 You should read the F-Zero SNES manual! Since the game is only presented from behind the machines the characters never really get highlighted. But the manual really does a good job of fleshing out the world and hypes you up for the race ahead.
I saw this game at gamestop when I was young. I picked it up, looked at it, put it back in the used game bin and moved on. I didn’t look into the game too much until only 2 years ago. I finally found a copy and played it through. It’s a shame I didn’t play it earlier. Also, the music from the game is amazing. I have a playlist on my channel of Wario World inspired music that I made, which helped kick off my CZcams channel. Definitely one of my favorite Gamecube games of all time. Great video 👍.
This game is really good. I would love a sequel.
Mentok coverage of game manuals ? Yes please. The weirdest manuals were the Western releases of Konami games in the NES era. Their localization team didn't bother translating the original manuals, they just made up their own lore comprised entirely of the lamest jokes imaginable. I don't know if the bosses back in Japan just weren't checking up on them, or if they had such a low opinion of Americans that this was deemed acceptable, but it makes for some very odd reading.
Mentok never fails to get deep
this was one of the first games i ever completed by my self without any mates helping or using the internet to look up hints. will always hold a special place in my heart i loved this game.
Every time i see you in the feed i know it's an instant classic
this is really bizarre, I never played this game but I owned a magazine that had a full playthrough of it so I had some memories of what it was about
for years I heard nothing of it and now, all of the sudden two youtubers I follow started playing it and this video pops in my recommendations
really weird
This was a perfect rental game. Just the right length to play the whole thing in a couple days. Definitely one of my fondest memories involving Blockbuster.
Im was so happy to find out that treasure was behind this game, cause you can rely on them if you want a game with strange characters and gimmicks
I got this game when it was new before I even had a gamecube, and despite it not being as good as its predecessors, I enjoyed every moment of this game when I finally got to play it. something about sending enemies flying with each punch is just oh so satisfying for me. Thankfully, I still have my original copy.
I think Wario World is honestly one of the most Wario-y Wario games to exist.
The music is extremely Wario-y. Songs like Beanstalk way and Greenhorn Forest are the top songs I'd use to describe Wario.
Wario's animations all fit his personality perfectly. He's super strong and macho, but he's also this super rough weirdo. His face constantly pulsates, his walk cycle is more of a waddle that is reminiscent of how he walked in Land 2 and 3. Movement is super quick and fluid. No slowness to be found. Enemies are crazy weird, but goofy in the best ways. Personally I think WL4 leans a bit too hard into the surreal grotesqueness of bosses, while Wario World hits the perfect balance of weird and gross.
The game overall may not be too special, but it's oozing with Wario charm, and I would kill for a new Wario game to mix the best gameplay of Wario Land with the vibes of WarioWare and Wario World.
Treasure soft had a habit of starting games with walls of text. Alien Soldier starts with a whole novel that goes on for days to explain why a child's soul inhabits an alien and is rampaging through a space port.
At least it tries too, the original Japanese version has the wall of text in English, as well as kanji, but the engrish is so bad that it's actually hard to make out what the plot was, thankfully the pal release actually fixes it
This is actually one of my favorite Wario games! I played it repeatedly in the early 2000's!
Wario World always seemed interesting, and i missed on getting it when i was younger. I just picked it up, and I'm glad u made a recent video about it since yeah, no one really talks about it
Loved that game and got it at launch since I was a big Wario Land fan. Wish we'd get a sequel featuring Wario & Waluigi, I'd say it's got potential in this era where basically every Nintendo fan knows who Wario is and got quite a bit of backstory with the Warioware series + Shake it
3:16 does the manual say he's 10 feet tall?
No, I'm pretty sure it's saying that he has size eleven feet. As in, shoe size for his elf feet.
HA HA HA
This game was my #1 most wanted birthday present back when I was a kid, ever since its announcement. I got that and Wario Ware Inc Mega Microgames, beat it, and even brought my copy to college with me.
Honestly, I feel awesome knowing I didn't miss out on this gem.
I even got Wario Land 4 for my birthday the previous year. Played the hell out of it
I, too, like to floss the gunk out of my toes
Seeing a lot of Wario World videos LOVE IT
I've never noticed how wario had long sleeves in the pre e3 builds
4:32 J.J. Says: “DYNOMIIIIITE!!!”
I played this game growing up but I still knew exactly what game it was from the title
My fiancé got me a physical copy for Christmas and it’s such a fun collectathon, I’d love to see my boy Wario get another shot in the spotlight
Played it, loved it, still hoping for a sequel
I loved this game! but haven't played it since becoming an adult lol maybe I should replay it
Totally down for you to explore Old manuals
The title is accurate. I am nobody.
I’m here for you 💙
i am new to your videos but it would be awesome if you did a series on old manuals
Yes, the manual video idea sounds like a fun one! Thank you for revisiting this game. Here's hoping Nintendo will one day bring back this series.
To this day i never understood why Wario never piledrives anyone in smash bros.
It's strange that a sequel to this didn't come out later, but I guess it's not good sales.
I've played this game hell not only do I remember it I also remember how I learned about it through the extra disk you got if you reserved the windwaker game on the game cube I would say this was the shortest game I've played but that honor goes to naruto ninja council 2
I'd like to see more on game manuals. I miss them.
The Wario land vs Wario Ware situation is a lot like when the Rabbids took over Rayman
Before clicking on the video, I thought you were going to say the Wario Land game for Virtual Boy. It was one of Nintendo's biggest failures, but Wario was one of the few games that actually looked solid 😅
Im still hoping they retouch that game for a modern console
I love this game I had it for years now and still play it every once in a while. The short length of the game never really bothered me and I just love how wacky and weird this game is.
Me and my friends just talked about this game after we went to a festival.
Talk about Princess Peach Showtime please
I remember renting this game when it came out. Was excited to play it when I would repeatedly watch the trailers that came with the Sonic Mega Collection. I 100% it over night. 😅
We desperately need a sequel to this game, or a complete remake that adds a bunch of content
I'd love to see 3D wario land revisited someday.
Wario world is kinda carzey
I love this game. Its one of my favourite nintendo games ever!
4:43 Dinomighty's ass tho, probably why this game never got a sequel cause Nintendo is scared to bring her back knowing what we might do to her like what we did when Clawlorine appeared for almost a split second.
Nah I remember getting this at block buster and loving it , lowkey didn't return it 😂
My man I even your voice is better than new voice of Wario
I hardcore agree with you that the inconsistent level themes and strange boss pairings indicates cut content. I love this game, but it's such an unfinished feeling mess. This game is a collectathon, so why are the levels so linear? It sucks to backtrack when you missed an item or two and have to go back to the start.
Actually, between the collectathon elements and the strange liminal dreamlike platforming challenges, this game oddly reminds me of Mario 64. I wish they leaned more into that, making open ended levels and using Wario's Castle as a hub world. The castle especially feels like a weird omission. It's on the front cover but then barely appears. Imagine if it slowly refilled with treasure as you progress through the game and collect money and statue parts and stuff? As is the money feels completely worthless which is crazy for a game starring Wario. I'd really love to see a full reimagining of this game that expands upon the clearly unfinished elements.
I played Wario World, even still have it. Interesting how you count Wario Land 2 as your favourite. Mine is 3, probably because it's the first game I ever completed. Speaking of, an interesting idea for the next video is to talk about wario Land 3 and give the clickbait titled "The Secret Metroid". Because if you play Metroid Fusion immediately after Wario Land 3 you can see a number of similarities between the two. Or you could do something else, idk, I'm not your video editor.
3 is my favorite as well
Its one of the most unknown Nintendo Games. Most People probably dont know that there is an 3d Wario Game.
Treasure ltd + Wario, arcade action gold.
That r.kelly edit had me rollin
We definitely deserve another 3D Wario
For me Wario World and Master of Disguise are both in the Wario Land series
Eyyyy hell yeah Wario Land 2 bein' the best sorta opinion right there haha
I had that game!!! It was fun but WHEW it got repetitive quick
I proudly own this game and i think it's underrated. It's also my personal favorite Wario game. The Wario Land games are good, WarioWare is trash, but i liked Wario World a lot and would like to see a sequel.
If anything even less people played the DS game Wario: Master Of Disguise.
Surprisingly, that game sold more copies. I’m open to cover it too
@@TheMentok Strange. It seems that it’s the least talked about game in the series.
You have a great Wario voice
I want this game to get a remake
Yo, i have this game and I’ve never beat it. To this day. It’s really fun and creative
Wario World is a fairly deep cut, but only true Wario connosieurs have played Wario: Master of Disguise.
Ok but have you ever heard of Wario: Master of Disguise?
Yes, want a video on it?
@@TheMentok It would be great to see someone talk about it, it's an amazing and charming game, but it doesn't get any attention besides people bashing it for the weird controls.
@@TheMentoki support this idea
Yeah Wario games are def my favorite of the Mario franchise. He’s a silly little guy and both him and his worlds look super cool 😎
I think the game is so uncanny because the game's bosses are very much influenced by Wario Land 4. However, a spirte design in a 2D game doesn't translate well (in this case, not at all) to a 3d game from 2003.
Review The Flight of Dragons from 1982 and Felix the Cat from 1988.
Sin and punnishment did get released in the us on Wii VC
well yeah.. many years later
Didn't know Vinny Vinesauce changed his name to Nobody.
I 100% played trough this.
i played it
i still have my copy
Loved this game
Greatest Nintendo game ever for the fighting mechanics alone.
I am down for more games where Wario spinning piledrives shit for cash. Also need Capt Syrup included lol
Also yeah the death of manuals pisses me off, wish they weren't abandoned
I still have that disk
This is the only one I've ever played
I beat it in a weekend renting it from Hollywood video I remember it was janky
I adore this game.
Wouldnt Mario 64 DS count as a 3d Wario game with him being playable ?
