I had to remove the black cap over the outside of the lock. I used a small screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers, and a small hammer to remove the cap. There is a special crimping tool available to install the new cap that I didn't have, so I improvised, and used the same small screwdriver, and small 4oz ball peen hammer to bend the tabs on the cap securely over the head of the lock casing.
