    This was a very helpful video. I have a 1996 f-150 and I recently pulled the lock mechanism out and did not know what to do. Now I fixed it thanks to this👍🏻

    great video. I have the manual door locks and windows so taking the door panel off has an extra step with the window crank but i like the short, straightforwardness of the video.

    Super helpful. Going to switch out the locks on an 86 Ford van soon and although it might not be exactly the same it puts me in the ballpark.

    Thank's! The rod on my has been off so i took the door apart and could not figure out how to put the rod back on the lock cylinder.. Watching your video shows me the plastic piece is missing on mind and I did not know it had that... Thank's again

    Thanks for the video. We had our F250 recently painted and the door locks were switched. Saw your video and it seems a lot easier than what we were thinking, going from the inside and pushing the cylinder out. Thanks.

    Great video. I would have spent hours trying to get the connector on the lock cylinder while inside the door. You showed putting the connector on, then attaching the linkage, then sliding it thru the hole... which made it a 5 minute job. Thanks!

    Can these locks be rekeyed to match the old key, or the ignition key?

  • @alive-awake
    @alive-awake Před 8 měsíci

    So are you saying you can do this without removing the door panel if you can keep hold of the rod to put it on the new lock cylinder? Also, my drivers door will only lock and unlock with the remote, not with the key. Why do you suppose that is? I just bought this used 09 ford ranger xlt. Also, is it a given that you will have to have a new key? Don't they make new cylinders for your specific vehicle?

    Great video. Where can I find 2 courtesy door panel lights for a 1995 Ford F-150. Mine have broken, and I cannot find any replacements anywhere. I need 2 exactly like the one in the above video. Thank you.

  • @dekoldrick
    @dekoldrick Před 6 lety +2

    Thanks. I hope this will apply to an 88 I just bought. Strangely, the door and the ignition key don't match and the previous owner said they never had a key made. So I have to buy new locks with keys.

    How about if the lock has power door locks, is there any wires?

    Saved me $60 that the robbing locksmith wanted to charge me-thank you so much!

  • @JeffreySaxophoneTallNewton

    RETAINING CLIP: My Ford E-150 VAN has similar locks, which I replaced. However, the clips (which look the same) do NOT have a "slot" as in your truck.
    The locks are a little loose. How can I tighten them up? Which way would I bend the clips? Make the oval more, or less pronounced? Bend the back park "up"? Something else? Do they go sideways, as yours? That's how they were.
    Should I put some type of silicone around the edges?
    There were no rubber washers, as in your truck. Note: my Buick Roadmaster has rubber washers.
    Thanks!
