    Was the SD card formatted to the right file type?

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 26 dny +2

      SD card was formated under Fat32 with the bootloader files from dreamshell's website 😁

  • @TheWax70
    @TheWax70 Před 26 dny +21

    For the dreamshell, I believe the issue is SD card. First, the SD card has to be in Fat32 format. 2nd, not every card works. For example, my 128GB SDXC doesn't load, but my 32GB SDHC runs fine. Hope that helps.

      Yeah, it could be the brand. I'll have to revisit it sometime

    As someone who has fixed his own sticks by desodering then cleaning them internally, that small PCB with potentiometers really looks like an insanely user friendly way to get the sticks back on shape

      @MCDNetwork  Před 22 dny +1

      Yeah, I was surprised at how easy it was. They're only advertised as working with PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X controllers, but I'm wondering if they'd work in older controllers that used similar thumbstick modules. As the only real difficulty I could see with that is not having a software to read their stick outputs for calibration.

    I went for FMCB card, Pico board for a GameCube and an Alladin chip for an Xbox. So far so good

    1:00 for those who want to use the console with a monitor (which many times doesnt have any speakers or audio out capabilities). But yeah these and the Gamecube ones usually tap into the S-Video signal as i dont think either were fully RGB/Component via that port (GC Component video had onboard electronics). pricier ones are coming that use the digital signal itself for GC.
    5:20 SMS can do SD video, Music, DVDs, and even network streaming (i used to have my Slim in the bedroom on a hardline, and use SMS to access the SAMBA shares for media i had in the hobby room on its external drive). i have access to a DVD burner so i was more inclined with the FreeDVDBoot mod to use that to make a card.
    11:16 - i had this same issue with a pad i was given by a buddy and i did a better solution of replacing both thumbstick modules, as i could get a nice fresh pair for $12 on Prime shipped. Still serving me well. it only took me 20 mins to desolder and swap the sticks. drift on a used controller usually means it is being worn. this fix is ok but really is delaying the inevitable

    Just ordered some of those Universal Joystick Drift Fix adapters a dollar for 10 is a hell of a deal!

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 27 dny +1

      It sure is, and they're super easy to use

  • @novelezra
    @novelezra Před 28 dny +6

    Yessss! I love these so much. Far too much you see these kind of videos but its testing crap and finding out they are crap. But this (as a retrogamer myself with many retro systems) is so useful.
    Don't get me wrong, I think Terraonion and KRIKZZ are awesome but not all of us have hundreds of dollars in disposable income to spend when there is probably a clone that does the same thing.
    Thanks for being the guinea pig :>

    I DONT comment often but he didn't even try to troubleshoot the dreamcast mod stick. like what? it's like someone who tries starting their car once and after it doesn't start they junk it instead of seeing that it's out of gas. that was the vibe i got.

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 12 dny

      Oh I did, tried reformatting the card, a different SD card, and changing the dreamshell bootloader. Even with trying all of that, it kept giving a "sd card not found" error. I did most of the setup and troubleshooting off camera for video pacing. Mainly due to their being three other items examined in the video.

    Free mc boot was definitely worth buying it and glad I bought it and enjoyed it

  • @ericmackrodt9441
    @ericmackrodt9441 Před 25 dny +1

    You need to use the SD card formatter to prepare it.
    I have that adapter and it works well.
    Also, I had to burn my own dreamshell because that cd that came with it didn't work.
    I was using it to backup games before I got a broadband adapter.

  • @suppengroove
    @suppengroove Před 23 dny +1

    tbf, the n64 adapter is literally just a pass-through converter. but your tv should have an option to fix that aspect ratio problem
    but congrats on the free mcboot card. i bought 4 so far, and they always send me blank ones...

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 23 dny

      That's another good reason to buy one from a reputable seller/make one. You never know what to expect from sites like this...

    one thing with sd card i would think in needs to be on mbr style, your sd card might be in gpt style

    Whats the advantage of that controller settings website, over using the controller settings already in windows?

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 24 dny

      The Website is used to diagnose controller functionality, it's used in this circumstance to help you calibrate the drift fix board. The setting in windows just allows you to control your computer with a controller. :)

    I'm 100% most tv can be set to 4:3 manually

  • @CrashFan03

    How does the n64 hdmi adapter look on gamecube and snes since those have the same video port

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 26 dny

      I can test it out for you. It looks like the N64 adapter uses the composite signal, so it should look similar to the stock video cables those consoles came with.

  • @neojudasiscariot
    @neojudasiscariot Před 26 dny

    There's a switch on the N64 HDMI that puts in 4:3

    • @MCDNetwork
      @MCDNetwork  Před 26 dny

      Unless it's on the inside of the device, I can confirm there is no switch. However you could probably adjust it via your tv settings

    • @ngschiltz
      @ngschiltz Před 24 dny

      @@MCDNetworknot on that one. That one uses the composite signal and looks like crap. The ones that run about $12-$15 can tap into s-video and look leaps and bounds better. They also have switches to go between the s-video and composite as well as 4:3 and 16:9
