      That’s what I try to think about when I buy these. If they’re bad for me, can you imagine how bad it is for someone that knows nothing about video games? Wrong power supply, bad disc, non HDMI console. How many people even have a TV with AV inputs anymore? They 100% need to specify if you’re getting a console with only an AV port. If you don’t have an old tv or a converter, you now need to buy a $20 converter for an Xbox 360 that you already spent $140 on

    • @penguinjay
      @penguinjay Před rokem +3

      @@vincentsgaming you get it, there is no big company that sells what these places are advertising. The care and time it takes to test everything like you and I do does not scale. They ship used products right to the end buyer and they get to sink the hours into finding out if there is something wrong with it. And there very well could be a problem they don't find. Broken 4th player plug, good luck figuring that one out before it is too late. Everyone is better buying from ebay sellers. For some reason people think $ = quality when it very clearly does not.

      the sad part it is not just companies that sell used games stuff ripping people off. i paid more to buy a open box phone recently instead of used or refurbished. the imie on the phone didn't match the box and the phone had chips in the frame. the seller said this is normal for the box not to match the phone which seemed completely wrong and shady. they likely just shoved a used or refurbished phone in a box and sold it off as open box for more money. i know the sellers definition of open box definitely didn't match the definition found everywhere else

    Assuming they were the ones who did the paste job. It won't dry out instantly, so it's entirely possible it was done a couple years before it made its way to their stockpile. Extremely likely, given how old the firmware is and the sticking issues with the drive - Couple other things that should have been addressed in a proper refurb.
    They refurbish their consoles much the same as DKO - That is, not at all. They're just lucky enough to be getting better quality stock.
    Edit - Although in the case of the firmware, it's something you wouldn't want to be updating since it gives it a higher street value. But if Lukiegames knew that, they'd be slapping 'Comes with NXE!' on the sale page and charging more for it.

    Any console sold used and refurbished should have an accurate and complete description. Sending you a non HDMI (even though it might have the Falcon based Opus board) console is crap without outlining it and including the wrong PSU is even worse, what if you don't have component on your TV? I will say that I experienced the same lack of fan ramping with my Falcon after a re-paste. That poor thing has been abused, but still works, knocked a resistor off when removing the x-clamps to preemptively bolt mod it which I've since removed, then pulling up a trace when trying to jtag it when drinking.

    I love the look and feel of the OG Xbox 360 much more than the slims. Plus it is super nostalgic for me as I was 12 in 2006 when I got one. I bought a brand new/factory sealed Xenon Xbox 360 last year for $300 to add to my game room. Date of production is April 2006. Unboxing it was amazing, a brand new original 360 with a brand new headset/controller/cords in 2022. Replaced the thermal paste on both chips and added the extra fans. Doing that plus not running it for more than 1-2 hours at a time will prevent RROD. The prolonged heat is what would cause the chips to unsolder themselves from the board. So I am keeping mine as cool as possible with the best thermal pate, extra fans, and timed use at 60 - 90 minutes.

    13:03 you could tell right here that the boltmod was not performed. If it was, those eight screws in the middle would not be there. I did the boltmod on many 360s, and became a master at taking them apart without even scratching the plastics.
    Lukie fails though. NO Xbox should be shipped without an HDMI port, and every controller should be OEM. Not to mention they couldn't even include the correct AC adapter.

    I removed an x clamp last night in fact. xbox one. clean out, re paste and topped off with an SSD upgrade, what a 500gb drive left the 'box with with all it's settings on was abysmal. it was left with like 360gb that was almost full, like 99% no joke, SSD has left it with about twice the space now
    the x clamp wasn't that hard to deal with seeing a few videos on how other people did it. most tedious part though was putting it back together, the outer case wasn't sitting right and the front panel ribbon loves to stay out of sight when you almost have it

    You dont even need to open it up. When you tell me you feel scalding hot heat from the back, you know you have recent thermal paste. ALL of these systems blow cold air when they have the void warranty sticker not popped. So if it has not been opened, most likely it will overheat. Not only do these red ring but they used that commercial use white thermal paste on these and it does not last long and will dry and crack even when not being used, just over time.

    Imo from what we can see they really did a great job cleaning the console. It's a bit pricy but it's super clean and they didn't forget to change the thermal paste. I think they need to focus on finding something else to blow air though... That liquid is going to break machines at some point. Still impressed by the great job they did inside.

    It's possible that some of these refurbished console's were refurbished to some degree before the store took ownership of it
    For example dkoldies won't pay out or ship back anything they refuse to take so if I were to sell them a console I'd open and give it a quick clean out before shipping it to them so that I stand the best chance of them actually paying me for it but then the next person to buy it may think the store refurbished it and give them a pass when the store did nothing but wipe it over with a damp cloth
