I was wrong to think that "Ocean Pearl" was an ordinary yacht. She is anything BUT ordinary, as I found out when I spoke to the Captain. In this yacht the bridge and the Captain's cabin were actually the most interesting parts, as you will discover when you watch the video. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Low cost, low maintenance, happy captain and ‘proven’ ability ......what’s not to like! 👏
$3 mill isn’t pocket change but what fantastic value it is! Just lovely.
True American cruiser, that has been lived in and loved. Books everywhere, and real honest maps. Tells you all you need to know really 😊
Spot on. What a wonderful yacht, with a wonderful story!
David, as a former Marine Carpenter back in the '90s working for teak decking systems out of Sarasota, I was always in awe of the designs of the high-end yachts coming out at that time. They always reminded me of a private resort or golf club with their layout and materials used. It's reminiscent of sitting in a clubhouse having your cocktails and ordering a high-end meal. Wonderful presentation of a jewel.
Usually dont like the old dark wooden interiors... this here is another level. Very stylish, very nice!
Very nice David, the older yachts are so regal in the water, she has an impressive range and great value for money.
Beautiful boat and beautifully shown!
It's truly a home on water for cruising just about anywhere.
Thank you David! Love it!
What a beautiful lady she is indeed.
David, you always impress me with your choices of content. The yachts you showcase are among of the nicest that can be found. It shouldn't be overlooked that your knowledge built over the years is a benefit you freely give in each video.
Well Done Sir.
Hello from St. Louis Missouri USA
Thanks David - very much appreciated.
First thing I noticed was impressively-sized lounge windows - for the age; it's surprisingly light in there. Unsurprisingly cabin windows are small, but they tended to be on A-class ocean yachts in that era - the tech has advanced over the decades, but they do appear to be relatively large for _opening_ portholes though. The four bunks is very useful for "storing children" without using up proper berths (evil laugh). Fully aft docking stations are also useful for helping fishermen for trolling, it seems like the Japanese guy was a fisherman too by his notes. Great boat, great story.
Nice lite informed comment
🤣😂🤪😜🤣😂

Stunning yacht Dave. Absolute gem!
Great value for the money. An older but lovingly cared for boat. I love the whole "look" of this lady. Beautiful woodwork. That chart would be great to find the best fishing and crabbing spots along the Alaska coast. Classy presentation as always David.
Hi David. I feel your enthusiasm whilst describing this beauty. Same Captain15 years with loads of history. In immaculate condition and a truly world traveller. Awesome video thanks 😊
Outstanding walkthrough as always .
I do like the larger, older yachts. Thanks for the video!
Very cool yacht!! Love it! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍👌👌👏👏
Magnificent
Great Tour, Thanks.
Cheers
Wish I could afford it. Beautiful. Also full marks on your presentation, you absolutely nailed it.
Love the storytelling here. Great host onboard a beautiful boat🦾
Absolutely stunning!
Lovely boat at a reasonable price. Having cruised North from Seattle many times I totally understand the attraction. Absolutely ideal cruising grounds and this looks like an ideal boat to do it on!
Wonderful video, wonderful presentation of a yacht with great history. Thank you 🙏🏼
Just love the classic look, impressed thru-out!
Very well done as always. 👍
Love your videos. Keep them coming!!!
Thank you David. I can always count on your channel to bring us only the best of the best, regardless of the age of the yacht. 🙂
@♜Pinnedby Yachts For Sale.. Thank you for the invite, but I do not use that app on my phone! Is that a US number?
I just watched this video on my TV, to experience it better. The vids are just so good! So many small things, that make it that way.
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear it looks good on a larger screen!
Really nice, love the accommodations especially a kid room with 4 bunks! Both sets of twins in one room. Yay! lol
A lot of character in this yacht. Thank you
what a lovely yacht and story. This is so much better than the overdecorated ego-fueled versions. The master suite is very modest and yet comfortable. They put space and luxury where it mattered (like the family style kitchen with table). It may need some updating, but I think it's beautiful just as it is.
I'm young enough that I wasn't around when this Yacht was built, but old enough to remember design like this from when I grew up (born in 94). She is a beautiful superyacht, even if she isn't the newest or fanciest yacht on the market. I appreciate this Yacht video, and I didn't think I would at the start. Interesting to know for new 70' boat money you can have a beautiful older larger vessel like this.
Stunning 💗
Beautiful lines...sweet and charming. I used to have 55 ft Stephes. Teak and gorgeous "Summer Place" was her name. Newport Beach and Balboa Bay Club. Great life when it was.
For me the classic lines of a yacht are still the best.
Absolutely stunning yacht. In my 25 year obsession with cruising yachts/trawler yachts I have to say this is one of the finest I have seen. I'm not in love with everything....but it's damn near 100%. The engine room was superb, I'd want more analogue instrumentation on the bridge and the severe backward rake of the windows would be reflection hell...there were two dining spaces which seemed unnecessary....and I'd want to lose the hard top... but I'm going to watch this again and again because this is a truly superb yacht. Thanks you so much for this.
Great range for a smaller vessel. Nice boat
I live the way you and the video crew did this production. Very personalized from the captains prospective. The lighting was great also. Use of the sun and shadows to help with the transition!
Only bad thing in the video was the mic rubbing and that’s me being picky!
Love the work you all do! You can tell you all take a lot of time and planning on these. Coming from a guy who shoots yachts ! I really appreciate the effort you all do and always look forward to seeing what’s next!!!
She is definitely a regular in Vancouver, and the BC coast. Great yacht and a great value! Another well done tour David.
Thanks Henry, always good to hear from you.
Always watching your posts. They are all very well done and much appreciated. Only chip in occasionally 😁 Look forward to connecting live for a pint one day. Cheers Henry
Beautiful American classic yacht.
David your presentations keep getting better in each video!
BTW... nice Ulysse Nardin diver chronograph on the wrist 😉
Little wonder the captain has stayed with the yacht for 15 years those crew quarters are amongst the best I’ve seen, the captain’s cabin is without doubt the best I’ve ever seen. Lovely older well maintained yacht with a little bit of updating would be a very attractive prospect.
Yes, I will buy Her. I will gladly pay you on Tuesday…
Atta boy, Wimpy!!!!
Nice older yacht can tell Crew takes care of her.
It's a beautiful boat, well done, wish I was motoring it now.
David, you should have a warning at the beginning of this video. I was drooling through most of this. If you would only WARN me, I could have had a small towel at the ready. [Snerk]
Beautiful ship and mind-blowing presentation.
David. I think this is the most professional boat review i have watched. The craft is magnificent but your choice of content and presentation in 14 minutes is first class. Thank you. Mike from South Africa, Transkei South Coast
what a steal at that price! fantastic boat.
What an effective presentation.
Absolutely sublime! Once again you’ve made a yacht into a person.
WOW, that looks brand new!!! Everywhere! As a buyer, you'd want to get on with the captain, as I'd hate to separate him from his vessel! 🤣 Nice exposé of this one again David.
@♜Pinnedby Yachts For Sale.. Is that your phone number David? What is the -+?
Lovely boat , I can think of many "wanna be" CZcams boat tourers that could learn a lot from your presentations :)
Love the video... Very nice...
I love this boat. If I could buy her watch out world here I come !!!!!
I've enjoyed your tours for over a year now and find I wasn't Subscribed by CZcams error. Please check your status viewers.TY.That's a wonderful ship, and great stories to go with it.I would love to be the next steward of it as long as I could.
This yacht ⛵ really worth 3 millions dollars.I really love it ♥️⛵💪😍😎♥️
I just love your walk throughs.. especially while in San Diego. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
This yacht is a bargain at under three million compared to new yachts in this range. While the styling is clearly from another era it looks brand new.
Beautiful 👍
What a truly beauty she is.
Brilliant
A no frills cruiser with an attractive price tag. Nice.
Beautiful work 🙌🤲💪😎😇⚓🌍🚢✌️
Nice. I was especially interested in what you said about chartering the boat when we are not using it. That would make it so much more affordable. Details? WHat are the economics of doing this?
Nice yacht.
Nice boat !
... oh, how I love pearls ... pure essence of sustained subdued luxury .. colour range from crisp pristine white's through the golden lustre ... Ocean Pearl is truly a gem of the sea ... & to have wonderful loving care by the same Captain for 15 years ... now that's love! ... kit-caterpillar engines just seem to purr along in the most quiet & assuring way? ...I love the seating area with, to me, the arabic nuance of warm acacia wood & the Turkish striped upholstery ... delightful touches of muted orange & gold ... just yummy ...I just love the colourway of cream, persimmon & the cinnamon of the woods ...again, such delicious warmth ... very comfortable ...what a marvelous ambience all around ... very Moorish & a delightful implying of the Spice Traders ... what a lovely layout in the kitchen ... lot's of surround elbow room ... could really cook up a quiet intimate storm in this lovely galley ...I really enjoy ephemera such as the delightful map, acting as a Ship's Log in full exposition ... love the 'Fjordland ~ Waterfall & Prawns' .. on the fly-bridge, what a fantasy in that empty white comfy high-chair ... honey butter yellows ...tidy & cozy crew area .... I am big on laundry luxe' ... truly lovely Captain's Cabin ... wonderful natural lighting ... around the Queen Charlotte's are the fabulous tidal pools ... not to miss out on that ... dare I say, this could be an affordable dream for me? ... what a sensational price for all this practical beauty ...
That seating and sport deck are lovely. And you said "salon" and not "saloon!"
Thanks!
Maravilloso , tremendo Yate wow 😳
You have a VERY interesting website!!
The decor is definitely early 90's, but its so pristine I'd feel bad updating it.
Lovely ship.
That’s the coziest bunk bed room I’ve ever seen.
Real class
Superb galley or Gally. So nice 😇😎🙂
beautiful yacht. the problem is that people with super yacht money like to follow current trends. this yacht has a timeless appeal and will never truly go out of style.
I love this yacht, why don’t more manufacturers provide bunk beads!
She's a beauty
I love the old school American Yachts like these and 90s Bowards. And Burgers. They stand out so much more than Johnsons and Italian yachts
4000 nm range?! That's very impressive for a yacht of that size. I'm just guessing but to achieve 4000 nm, the cruising speed would be about 8 knots per hour?
12 knots
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Substance over style. Oh no, hold on, she's stylish too :)
Honestly, i judge a boat by the comfort of the crew quarters. If they are livable and comfortable then its a good boat.
Dreamboat. So much more appealing, to me, than the flashy, modern types.
It's clean , tidy and practical but how will it fit in at the moicco races with all the modern yatchs.
Is the cockpit an add on?
Would be a great yacht for charter, but...................how many hours do these engines have ? With so much extensive traveling the engines must have used up a lot of their life time. Any info about the remaining hours before overhaul ?
Love it is it still fore sale
I'll buy it!!!!
Is it still available?
Amazing boat, honestly just what I would be looking for if I was prepared to officially have my own private research vessel. (Science can be done in comfort as well)
If you are serious about doing research, Heesen yachts has a program where they take people that want to do scientific research and get them on a yacht that is going to the area they are going to research. I guess the yacht owner gets some sort of deal on fuel or something if they are involved in scientific research, or get to write off the voyage on their taxes. No clue, I've heard varying reports. They are also exempt from certain rules too. I don't know what you have to pay, if anything, or what you have to do, but they have that program and work with other companies that offer it too. Nordhavn also has a program where they pair up people doing research with yacht owners traveling to certain locations. These boats usually don't have staff and I think you might have to provide your own food, but a lot of Nordhavn owners, as I'm sure you know, take their boats everywhere. But 2 good places to start if you are serious.
@@clifbradley Great info...that is of interest to me...thank you!
I'm with you 100% on that!! That is my dream.
Oh the place you'll go.
Timeless
David, did you say this was for sale… like still today??
I normally don't like the American obsession with wood everywhere. This ship suits it though. It looks magnificent and it's cruising capabilities are brilliant.
Can I afford it? Not sure, Alaska.
It looks like a nice yacht, but the "walk through" was so fragmented that I had a difficult time trying to figure out what was where.
I am interested as to what the yearly cost is for this yacht? Considering there is a Captain, likely an mechanical engineer, a chef, and a deck hand. Not to mention the insurance, fuel costs, and other items like maintenance.
I watched a review of such and a Captain is usually $60K yearly, and if an engineer also,as I suspect is the current case,$80k.Diesel in US is @$5 per gal.Chefs @$40k,or can get as needed.Deckhands/stewards @$35-45k depending on duties.Over 80ft ships require live-aboard person,or persons.Everything else is still 'Yikes',but Chartering helps cover some costs when you're not onboard.Just figure $150.k yearly and then add fuel and food when you're aboard and cruising.
Marine diesel is different than your diesel at the pump. Current marine diesel prices in the US are $7.45 per gallon on the east coast. West coast is almost $11. You can't really apply the '10% rule' to boats as old as this one is. They have many different issues when they get this old.
Have to agree, a very lovely boat. Would have been nice to see 1 more crew cabin for a senior crew and the access from the water is ok if you are young & fit not so much if you're old & fat. lol.
Cruising of 4,000nm @ 12nts is great.
Operating costs?
Well, I was going to say "Juneau is not an island" but I looked it up, and the 4 acre island that is now part of the breakwater at Douglas Harbor used to be an island and for about 10 years starting in the 1800's it was called "juneau island."
Very nice overall, but I think perhaps a little underpowered. I recognize that's great for longevity as well as cruise distance - but 1500 hp just doesn't seem adequate for a vessel of this size.
It's a full displacement hull, if anything 1500 hp is over-engineered for the size.
@@darthkek1953 in my mind I just think 12 kts cruising is a little slow. I do understand the philosophy, thanks for your kind and knowledgeable reply
@@garydavenport3684 8 knots is typical for a displacement cruising, that it can chug along at 12 is impressive; to go much beyond that starts to require _exponentially_ more fuel and hp.
