What a beauty, only needed now is money :D
I've watched hundreds of yacht walk throughs and sailed on quite a few, but this is my absolute favourite. I'd give up many a multi million quid mega yacht for this beautiful old lady in a heartbeat.❤❤
She is indeed a beautiful lady 🫡
I am a retired marine engineer, and yes - that is one nice engine room. All that's needed is a tub of Swarfega by the sink, and a boiler suit hanging up to dry. Lovely little ship.
Absolutely gorgeous, a proper boat with the ultimate engine configuration, nothing but nothing beats Gardners for dependability , it's only this type of boats that makes me stop to watch the complete video. I'd buy that in a heartbeat if I'd the money! Excellent video.
Thanks for watching 🫡
What a gem. 60 years old and it looks 6.
Absolute perfection.
Probably the most beautiful motor boat I’ve ever seen on any channel.
Just sublime.
Glad you like it!
I'm a sucker for older yachts, there is just a certain elegance and charm about them, as well as a distinct character these older vessels seem to have. I have to say she's an efficient Lady, with 6000L carrying her 4000NM and with plenty of deck space forward for a couple toys along with a reasonable sized tender for trips to shore or a bit of fishing. Thank you John, for giving us a detailed walk through of M/Y 'Ferrara' and for giving boats like her a premium showcase to shine! I truly hope you make it to 100K subscribers this year John. I can think of no other channel that puts the time in on these boats to give them this type of presentation, combined with your experience onboard boats in all categories of seas that gives you a perspective that some reviewers just lack. Keep up the Fantastic work!!! - Dave
Thanks, Dave 🫡 I appreciate it 🙌
2 masts, 2 engines and 1 Yacht Buoy what a hoot!
Thank you, sir 🫡
Thar is a real boat. And the simplicity of yhe interior design is in line with the notion that a boat is first and foremost made for sea travel and no show off.
Congratulations to all involved in the making of this visit and video.
Thanks for the comment :-)
Wow that’s pure class. Why am I such a sucker for the craftsmanship back in the day?
Fabulous boat and the engine room was just stunning with the dry exhaust system...Gardner Engines, everything was spotless, showing great care and meticulous maintenance.
anybody that has a Marshal amp in the wheelhouse must be bad ass
Anything with Gardner power is awesome
She,s a Honey . Well worth what ever owner is asking . Go anywere . Manual Gardener gearboxes , Not used seen in awhile, You can sail down a wave and Push start engines if have flat batterys , Unreal. Thank you from South Australia .
I want it. I love in the PNW of America....
Perfect for the Puget sound & trips into British Columbia....
Beautifully presented traditional motor yacht powered by the very best of marine diesels.
I was on a sister ship, built in Buckie By HM " My Arvor " Did an Atlantic Crossing from Las Palmas to Barbados, with then owner Steve Pope.. Newport RI Summer 87 Time of our lives
In a world of increasingly generic boat designs, it is refreshing to see such a beautiful craft bringing form and function together. Thank you for an excellent tour.
Well said! And thanks for watching and for leaving a comment
Absolutely beautiful❤
I adore that yacht! Its range is impressive, which I certainly appreciate. It's a stunning vessel with a timeless design that I absolutely love.
Couldn't agree more!
This boat reminds me of MY Chico built for Sir Malcombe Campbel in Goole as his Scottish boat. Re-fitted with a pair of Gardners that replaced the Glenifers and on the three week trip from London to Sail Amsterdam as part of the Dunkirk Little Ships contingent I was lucky enough to crew. Chico was owned by the ADLS Commadore and later sold, and I understand is doing charter work in Scotland.
Thats great to hear! Chico was my step dads boat many years ago. She had the pair of 4 cylinder Glenifers then, beautiful engines I remember him getting one of the heads ground down as it had warped slightly, they were so well enginereered they didnt have or need head gaskets. He brought her up from the med after buying her with storm damage and back to his yard in Southampton. I believe she is up working from Oban in Scotland now. Would be lovely to see her again.
As a yacht builder,I can say that with twin modern engines (Volvo or Cummins) todays selling price for a new built of a sister ship will be around 1.5 million.
But they wouldn't have Gardners unfortunately
Absolute stunner!
I corresponded with the owner when he purchased her, hope I was helpful. His renovation is stunning, so impressive, beyond words. One nugget I might add is that she is slimmer and lower than most Herdies and my understanding was that it was so she could travel UK to theMed through France. Whether that's still possible I don't know but wouldn't that be a great cruise!
I did wonder at that, she hasn't got quite so much of a bow rise as most Herds!!
Always thought, that boats/trawlers of this vintages, was a bit too "odd/old" for me - but this one is truly marvelous.... It is not contemporary Italian decor, as I think I really fancy - but seeing your video on this one, I more or less could see myself living on this months at a time..... it really stands out - and oddly enough - could be a contestant to my all-time favorites, the Arksen 85 and Numarine 26XP... Thanks you for showing this nice vessel to all of us...

What a beautiful and timeless classic.
That old girl is a work of art beautiful
Oh, John... You've REALLY excelled yourself with this beauty. She's in outstanding condition. This is definately the best one I've seen in a while. I'd happily pass over the Nordhavn boats for the timeless style and sheer elegance of this magnificent and timeless craft. Very tasteful and seamless integration of classic and modern technology here. I'd happily give up everything and live on this with my dog as the Captain! 👍
I really mean this.I hope that you continue to do this.Especially down inside the ship where you don't have outside noises and everything else.I really like this format.I hope you continue to do it.Alright thank you very much.
One of the most lovely boats you've ever done!
Pure eye candy, what a beautiful boat.
I have seen a sistership, 'Southern Cross London', and she is a gem... A previous owner of that vessel whom I knew pretty well - He loved her...
The canoe stern does give such vessels some elegance, and there is less corkscrew in a blow, etc., but to me, the Gardners will be forever classic.
I think SCL is presently located in Brisbane.
What was SCL's original name, do you know? I owned an H&M and don't recognise the name. The one I owned sank, (not by me, abandoned).
What a beautiful boat!
Stunning! My kind of boat. Style and class!
One look at her lines screams traditional Scottish built fishing hull, and as a result, regardless of stabilisers etc she will be a phenomenal sea boat.
Those engines are works of art.
Hooray for small cabins, hooray for sinks in cabins.
She is an extremely beautiful boat. Thank you for sharing
You say I think there are only three still afloat, I know Marandi (Mary and I) was last seen rotting on the shore in Penryn above Falmouth, and mine is lying at the bottom of Polensa Bay (You Tube: Wreck of Andrea Ferrara), that leaves Cromarty, Skomer (the Tasmanian one I think), Astra Volante, Kytra, (touring in Greece I think), Arvor, (last heard of in Maine), and of course Ferrara. I didn't know more than two were written off tell more.
BTW I've left out Gilliano and Scottish Simo as they were/are both smaller. Gilliano has moved from Netherlands and is now flagged in Canada, and still afloat, looking a bit like a caravan but in good condition. I found a photo today.
Just gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning 👍👏👏
Exceptional quality boat ❤
beautiful, stunning want her, can see spending months and months chilling out on her decks
Beautiful vessel. Thanks for the tour.
Great tour of an incredible vessel…thanks for sharing!!👍👍👏👏
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🫡
Nice Boat! Love the nostalgia
Love that gorgeous boat!!
Whow, can’t get better.
What a beautiful boat🎉❤
Reminds me of a Fleming. What a beautiful yacht
Such a stately boat.so practical
Restoration/renovation looks wonderful and the interior spaces were particularly well done, incorporating a contemporary design while retaining a classic feel of the original. Must wait and see how much the price will be reduced to move this.
Sweet boat
Very nice tour of a quite lovely boat. I've had an eye on her for a few years. Pretty discreet I don't hear mention a young Pete Townsend owned this for a good bit....
Glad you enjoyed it 🫡 Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment
Beautiful boat.
Another outstanding video of a great classic beauty 😍
Glad you enjoyed it 🫡
Beautiful
Very beautiful ship
lovely yacht
Thanks Yacht Bouy, great vid. Just went to check the PDF details out and it may just be me but it looks to be missing LOA, Beam and Draft. and would be nice to see a layout. nice boat too
Awesome!
What an absolutely wonderful boat. I think this might be one of your best mate. :)
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Precioso barco.
lovely
Absolutely stunning John! Makes me wishing I had an extra 1M quid, LOL Cheers!
I think this is one of the best tours you've done. The yacht is a piece of artwork hats off to the owner. But to snap me back I'm going to watch Sea Ranger.
it's a beautiful boat wished i had £695 to spare xx
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
Magnifique reportage ❤😂

In the years I’ve been watching yacht walk-throughs this is one of the very few I’ve done all the way through more than once. First rate tour of a magnificent vessel. Thank you!
[edit - make that 4 times through now I think in the days since first posting. It’s interesting to note as the layout sinks in over those viewings, for all its luxurious, gorgeous expanse, there’s actually not a lot of indoor lounging space. Had I the misfortune of having to truly decide if I was to purchase, for my northern climes I night need to refit the interior a bit - say take out that credenza with the TV and replace with some lovely old leather club chairs across from the dinette for those chilly late fall and early spring voyages. Sigh....such terrible problems to have to solve. 😊]
Oh my I am in love, she is lovely a great boat for a single owner would need a full time hand (Crew member) to polish, vanish, touch up and maintain her though. I love the look and styling of this craft I can not fault it. Could happily live out my former years on this!
Come on now, Saluting without you hat on , and with your left hand into the bargain . shocking display from an experienced matelot😀
Very nice boat for the money.
In the 70 ‘s in own one out of Peterhead, I built in a 8 cylinder Gardner engine. A wonderfull engine.
Hi John, recently discovered this channel. Really love it as I have a crush on these trawler styles (although I have a planing boat myself). Well produced and interesting!
Welcome aboard! And thanks for the comment 🫡
Thanks!
Thanks for the ‘super thanks’ 🫡 It is very much appreciated 🙌
Amazing ship thanks I want it
What a lovely boat! It's hard to believe the age
I want it!
I love to have this to Sail the Seychelles Archipelago my beloved country
I think the sails are long gone, but you could pilot this down there.
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
🫡🙌
What a grand yacht and so much good value if the selling price is correct (?) Well presented too by your self.
That’s the correct price 🫡 Glad you enjoyed the video 🙌
Yes nice boat - I have a question you said it was ketch rigged is that means sail power as well?
What a wonderful, beautiful yacht!
🫡🙌
She's a wee beauty! If I had the money, I'd take her home and do a grand tour of Scotland and all the Islands, and after that, the rest of the UK too 😃
That'd keep me busy for a fair bit, I imagine!
Stairs look about as steep as on a Type 42! One of the companies I worked for did a good deal of work with the forces, so I got to go aboard a few times, and always ended up with a big bruise across my forehead from smacking my head off the upper deck hatch on the way down stairs... and I'm a shortarse, I don't know how tall Yacht Buoys managed! 😆
😂😂😂 #bz
Nice. Not quite "Fair Lady", but more within the budget.
Hi, a very beautiful boat, but I did take note that there were no leeboards on the bunks, being chucked about by the mucky weather that she is obviously built for,I love her.I worked on Gardner engines as an apprentice, great machines that will last a lifetime with correct maintenance, love them.cheers,Roly🇬🇧.
Perhaps there are lee cloths?
Very interesting yacht! But away too many stairs for me.
Peter Gore Seer,
I Like The Craft Moving On The Sea.
Great💯💯💯💯💯👏👏👏👏👏👏⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Thank you! Cheers!
Much want.
beautiful lady
A beautiful boat. I'd love to know where the Tasmanian one is moored!
I sailed around Hobart and the Channel for years till recently and certainly can’t recall a boat like her. I would love to see it to. Our kind of vessel.
@@robertsmith-fj2rx definitely! If it was built for the Scottish weather it would cope with ours.
I have a quick question. At time point 4:20, I noticed a circular attachment on the bow, where the foremast stays were connected, Could this be used for a bowsprit? It seems rather small, but one never knows. As usual, a lovely video
I will have to re-watch this to check! Thanks for the feedback re the video! Glad you enjoyed it!
What are the Gardner's ? 6LX ?
Great quality of build, obviously. Who can not appreciate a good pair of Gardners? How many of the modern engines nowadays, and this is a loaded question, do you think is still running at all after 60 years? That said, the only other boat of a good size, that I know of, that can compete with this boat in consumption and range with relatively mediocre tankage is Leen trawler style trimarans.. That is a great testimony to the perfection of Gardner engines. Personally though, if I won the lottery, I for sure would buy a sailboat.
Have a look at Elley Grey another Gardner engined yacht but delivered in 2012 and cheaper !
As much as you miss, you will find someone to give it to, that's fine
❤❤
